Feeling Groovy

Snapped while on our day trip to the Bluegrass state (click the link to see more photos) last Friday.

The Legend of the Dogwood
“When Christ was on earth, the dogwood grew
To a towering size with a lovely hue.
Its branches were strong and interwoven,
And for Christ’s cross its timbers were chosen.

“Being distressed at the use of the wood,
Christ made a promise which still holds good:
‘Never again shall the dogwood grow
To be large enough for a tree, and so,
Slender and twisted it shall always be,
With cross-shaped blossoms for all to see.

“’The petals shall have bloodstains marked brown,
And in the blossom’s center a thorny crown.
All who see it will think of me,
Nailed to a cross from a dogwood tree.
Protected and cherished this tree shall be,
A reflection to all of my agony.’”

I always thought Christ was crucified from the dogwood timbers, but I learned when I stumbled on an article informing me that dogwoods are not native to Israel. The legend is still nice and it serves to remind me each spring of Jesus’ sacrifice for all.

Our weather has been glorious. Sun shining bright…a smile creeps across my face…my heart feels carefree… and it puts me in a feelin’ groovy mood!

Ahhh, life is good!  Now, tell me, isn’t this just a happy song? I mean, it makes me wanna celebrate spring.

Angela from Mommy Time Out and I would to thank you for joining us for another edition of Wayback Wednesdays.

We hope you’ll want to join in on the fun. Don’t worry, Angela and I don’t have a lot of rules. All we ask from our friends is to link only one of the following blog, twitter, or Facebook URL below. It’s that simple!

It’s so nice of you to come by & I hope you’ll decide to make it a repeat visit each week to share in  my musical memories (new or old) and my photo ops.  I’ll be hopping over to your little niche in Blogosphere soon! I hope to see you on the dance floor for Monday’s Music Moves Me or visit XmasDolly.
