Bread & Drink Art

Last week’s art prompt Rain’s Kitchen & Garden was bread and this week it is drinks.  I’m participating in the TAD every other week and am trying to incorporate both into one post.  These two make a great pair up.  The first thing I thought of is this print that given to us as a wedding gift a zillion years ago.

Grace is a photograph by Eric Enstrom (1918). It depicts an elderly man with hands folded, saying a prayer over a table with a simple meal.

The Bible gives a simple prayer easy for a child to remember yet humbling for the old to say before a meal or at the close of each day.

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.  ~Matthew  6:9-13

For a long time I wanted to sketch this old photo and so, that’s what I finally did! In the short series of images below, I’m sharing my original Procreate sketch along with two adjusted images of the same illustration.

This is a good time to mention that I finally got to make Rain’s Baked Sour Cream Donuts. It took me almost a year but hey I did it!

Rain’s recipe is superb tasting and not all complicated. I believe anyone can make this without fears of failing. I put more batter than Rain instructed on purpose because I only have one donut pan and I didn’t want to wait. I just increased the bake time and got nice fat donuts. This will be a repeat before long and hopefully I’ll have a second donut pan so that I can double the recipe. 😉

I also made Valentine’s Day Thumbprint Cookies for DH. This was my first attempt ever and I was pleased as punch with how yummy these cookies turned out. I’m definitely going to make this recipe again.

Drinks? My preferred drink to go with sweets is black coffee.

There you have it, my spin on Rain’s art prompts. Who wants donuts and cookies?

Things I am thankful for today…I’m thankful for the huge dent made in removing all unwanted emails and unsubscribing to only company’s I ignorantly signed up for marketing emails. That’ll never happen again. I’m thankful for the continual good progress to remove all rarely used online accounts. I’m thankful for the spring-like weather we’ve had all week. It won’t be long before the seasons change again with more steady pleasant temperatures. 😊

Come join me next time for Monday’s Music Moves Me.  If you have music to share then hit the dance floor with me! This is CAAC signing off,  have a doodletastic day! XO, Cathy
