5 #get2knowme questions & May 15th #BoTB winner results

Hello Kittens & Dawgs! For the past two weeks I’ve used my elliptical and this past week I incorporated a bit of upper body resistance using three-pound weights for the last 20-minutes on the elliptical.  I’m feeling good about getting back in step with my workouts.   I know the big key to weight loss is my diet.  Right now I’m not doing anything drastic.  I am simply not eating in-between meals.  That in itself is a real death sentence to my dieting goals, so what’s the point of exercising if I’m consuming more calories than I can burn?  Exercise along just won’t cut it for the non-athlete.   Watching what you eat is essential.  All it takes is shaving off daily 500 calories to lose a pound in a week.   I have no clue how much extra I’ve eaten since it’s usually nibbling here and there but eliminating that no matter how little or how big, will make a difference.    I need to be brave.  It’s time to put on my Superwoman cap to get that initial scale reading and then follow-up a week later to see if my dieting plan is enough.   On the weekends, I  take off from my normal workout routine to hang with my favorite fellow, so, it’s not just Blogosphere that I push aside.  The last couple of weekends, we’ve stayed local due to DH’s eye surgery but yesterday he saw his surgeon for another follow-up (these will last several months) and he’s been given the green light for trips to the mountains again. Yippee!!!

I borrowed 5 more questions from an online source. Feel free to lift these off my ‘Cathy Chats’ Prompt’ page to create your own #get2knowme post.

  1. If you could save just one, would you rather save Humanity or the Earth? Humanity.  This is what’s inside a person beginning with one’s soul.  If the soul is lost, its doomed to eternal torment and darkness.
  2. If you had A Big Win in the Lottery, how long would you wait to tell people?  That’s a tough question.  I don’t know that I would make it public knowledge but after I knew the money was in hand or at least the first payout, then I think we’d tell our kids. It would be cool to  spring it on the with something they need, like a new car or down payment for a house.
  3. If you had 1 year left to live, what would you do for you? It wouldn’t be about me as much as it would be for others.  I’d try to build closer ties creating memories to carry those I love through this life until I see them again in heaven.  Once I’m gone, I’m gone. I won’t know what’s going on here. However, those remaining are left to carry on either weighted by guilt or uplifted by happiness with time missed or spent together.
  4. What pipe dreams do you have that you wish could come true?  The one pipe dream I’ve carried for the past 30 years to get into a new house.  We outgrew this place years ago and we need the space more than ever now.
  5. What do you find yourself always procrastinating?  Getting started with other things away from the Internet each day.  I wish I could tend to those things first and then take care of cyberspace but I just can’t get on board to doing things that way.

Okay that’s enough about me for now. Let’s move on to see how last week’s BoTB panned out.

First off, I made a goof. Don’t ask me how I did it but for some reason I thought Contender #2 was Michael Bublé but thankfully Debbie caught my mistake. It turned out I was putting Dusty Springfield up against the original artist, Barry Manilow.   My battle started off severly weighted in favor of Michael Bublé before I noted my error but Debbie assured me it makes no difference with female vs. male factor in play.  Dusty caught a break and picked up a few votes including mine (It was her whispery soft vocals that captured my heart) but never gained the momentum to make this race super tight.  It did turn out better than it began but in the end the votes for May Round 2 BoTB tallied 9-6 in favor of…. Bublé/Manilow!

Every time I think of Barry Manilow, I remember my high school English teacher, Miss S.  She had an enormous crush on him and as strange as it is she even resembled Manilow (to-me) somehow, except a lot shorter and slightly chubbier than him.  It could’ve been a match made in heaven had Barry liked women. 🙂
