Oh, my Cathy! Can you believe this is the last week of September, Kittens & Dawgs?
Time can tear down a building or destroy a woman’s face
Hours are like diamonds, don’t let them waste
Time waits for no one, no favours has he
Time waits for no one, and he won’t wait for me
Time truly does not wait for no one. Although, I’m NOT looking forward to winter I am happy that it’s autumn again. Our expected forecast for this week will feel like summer but a cooling tread is heading this way by Friday. But, you didn’t tune into the weather channel, did you?
What do you think about the new look of today post spot? I’m changing things a bit. For months I used the adorable kitten in a tea-cup for my Cathy Chats but I love all things feminine and vintage or retro images of women says “Me!”
I don’t think I want to live in the past but there are things about the past I love and that being women being women. In the past 30+ years I’ve seen roles reverse in the sexes with women progressing farther away from their womanhood but that’s my opinion. I know some agree with me and others see it different.
This is my day to get random, even rant without repercussions, right? I can do that with my blog…just saying is all. Anywho….do you like to color? I do. That’s one of the many reasons why I enjoy rubberstamp art. There are a lot of free resources online where you can download images to color but I discovered a few coloring apps for my iPad that I’m reviewing. I don’t like paying for an app unless I’m confident I’m really going to love it and I’m even less inclined to get the add-ons to the freebies. These are ones I’m using the free version of with no upgrades and I will tell you what I like and don’t. I’m sharing this with you as one friend to another and this is not a sponsored post. 😉
Color Therapy offers plenty of coloring pages with a limited coloring palette. Every day they make available a free coloring page. It’s more important to me to have a bigger selection of colors than coloring pages.
Pigment offers a lot of different coloring palettes with few coloring pages and various brushes like pencil, marker, airbrush, as well you can choice to fill a complete area of color. The cool thing is you can layer the colors and technique style brush strokes over filled areas. As you can see with the shading I did. This app is best used with a stylus but I don’t have one. It’s an okay program and I certainly plan to keep it on my device because I’m hoping Santa will bring me the Apple Pencil for Christmas. Did you hear that Santa? Just checking. 🙂
Recolor is my favorite of the tree. It has a nice array of coloring options with daily freebie pages to choice. It has several coloring pages in different categories to use at no charge, too. In my recent upgrade to iOS 11 I discovered the pages I colored vanished. Either I did something wrong or the upgrade wiped them out. Luckily I can get to most of them again to color again. I can’t complain about this since it’s free. However had I paid for it then I might be a little sore but…I’d also have access to everything to do over anyhow so no harm done and it’s fun to color right?
All three apps use a watermark to identify their program. Color Therapy is a little less intrusive. I don’t like any of them but that’s what you get with the free version and so I can live with it. I noticed Recolor saves the coloring pages as a larger file size than the others. I hope this means the print quality is better. So, if you’re looking for fun stuff to do with your iPad then I recommend these apps. I am going to continue using these to see if my opionion or experience changes and will report if back to ya should I change my mind.
Do you like to print and color? Yes. I thought so. On The Balance, Stacy Fisher shares Free Printable Coloring Pages for Adults (link no longer exists) listing several sources. Color Book Addict is another site with tons of links to browse for free coloring pages. Finally, I came across Just Color. I want to return to these sites when I have more time but for now I want to let y’all know about them.
If you’ve read “Curious as a Cathy” for a while then you know mewsic is a big part of my life and I love to share whatever moves me. For a time I even shared weekly new mewsical discoveries. Time being what it is and I find multi-posts on a single day is not only hard for me but often become over-sights by others. I figured it best to incorporate my finds in random share such as here which brings me to my point. Yes, I’m a little long wind. Please indulge me. 🙂 While researching song choices for my October 1st BoTB I came across an 80s artist. Her name didn’t resonate with me but I think the reason is her success fell at the end of the decade and that’s when I entered my early years as a new mother. Do I need to explain further? I didn’t think so. Anywho, I liked her contemporary R&B sound in “My Apple Heart” from 1989 and so I invite you to please listen to Lisa Stansfield.
Stansfield recorded/released her first album Affections the same year from which her top charting global hit, “All Around the World” (#5 on the playlist, beginning 19:35) appeared.
Have you heard of Lisa Stansfield? If so, what songs do you like by her?
This is what the hop hostess says… I got this idea from Glamour magazine. You can link up any day of the week. All you have to do is make a list of what you’re okay about. Simple! Please do not link up a post that has nothing to do with “Hey, It’s Okay”. It’s rude.
It’s okay….
To enjoy the childhood past time of coloring. It’s truly therapeutic plus it takes me back to simpler time. I think I want my mommy! This is definitely a “Hey it’s okay” moment even when you’re 55. Trust me!
To not be in the know about every artist in one’s life. The beautiful thing is discovering new talent is like finding a lost treasure. Do I keep it to myself or http://curiousasacathy.com/do-it-or-else-die-trying-to-do-right-atozroadtrip-music/ I share? I always choose the latter. I hope you enjoyed today’s feature and if you like mewsic, then you may want to hit the dance floor with me on Mondays. Check out yesterday’s Back To School Again mewsic.
To be excited over new iPhone arrival and then disappointed when it doesn’t show. That’s how things went down Friday. DH’s phone arrived. We ordered them on the same day but different invoices because his was showing unavailable and mine wasn’t. Then we got notice his phone prepped for shipping before mine and left the facility via FedEx Knoxville bound. My order processed a couple of hours later, handed off to the carrier but it never left Memphis. There was hiccup somewhere. It finally got in town late Friday afternoon and there was no chance it would deliver even though we remained hopeful of a miracle. It didn’t happen. The online tracking data showed my package never leaving FedEx’s airport destination. Saturday morning my package status was the same. It took calling the 800 number which on the weekends is totally run by an overseas call center. Which is another nightmare in itself. I can’t understand them, they can’t understand me but they are super polite and trying like crazy to help. I finally got someone to tell me my package was in the Knoxville main distribution center but wouldn’t deliver until Monday. DH felt the same disappointment for me as I did. I put on a good front and waved it off the best I could. Things go wrong sometime. We knocked around town a bit when DH said, let’s go by FedEx to try to pick up your phone. The worse thing that can happen is they say, no I can’t do that. A young man greeted us. After checking our tracking info, he reacted with good judgement and common sense. He saw the delay in delivery was FedEx’s bad and went against protocol to get it for us, turning our day completely around! He deserves the “Employee of the Year” award in my opinion. 😀
That’s a wrap for this morning. I’m taking a coffee break with Les from Ink Interrupted for Tuesday Coffee Chat (I’m not sure if she’s returned from her hiatus) and linking with Stacy Uncorked for Random Tuesday Thoughts . You’re welcome to come with and if not, I hope you’ll come by tomorrow for not-so Wordless Wednesday.
