Saturday Songsuasion #2: The Partridge Family

In 1970, a classic TV sitcom aired. The story line is of a widowed mom of five who undertake a musical career with lots of goofiness along the way. This was one of my favorites growing up with love-struck eyes over one of America’s teenage heart throbs.

This morning on Saturday Songsausion, I am dedicating my post to the group I am listening to The Partridge Family!

This is the theme music for the popular sitcom that even today makes me sing out, “come on get happy.”

According to Wikipedia, The Partridge Family Album reached #4 on the US Billboard album charts and #6 with our neighbors in Canada on the RPM 100 national album chart in 1970. From this album it produced this stellar #1 Billboard Pop Singles and perhaps one of my personal favorites…

I Think I Love You’s popularity made its way to the top in Canada on the RPM 100 national Top Singles chart and in 1971 ranking #1 in Australia and New Zealand.

From the same album gave us this song.

I Can Feel Your Heartbeat became an instant sensation.  Funny, it never released as a single even though the tune was a popular cut on the album.

Despite David Cassidy’s dislike (he hated the idea of having to talk for so long in the middle of the song) for the next song, it did well.  It stayed on the US Billboard charts for 12 weeks at #6 in 1971 and did better in Canada reaching  #1.

Finally, I’ll leave you with another ’71 favorite single from the album Up to Date.

Last week appeared to be a no-show of folks for Saturday Songsausion. That is, if the “no comments” is an accurate indicator. That’s alright, though. These things take time. I hope you’ll leave some feedback, letting me know, if you would like to see this as a blog hop or just left as a fun weekly post.

I hope you enjoyed your visit.  Have a sensational Saturday!
