Do you remember me telling you that I started using coconut oil in my diet? Well, if you don’t then you read about it here. More specifically, I am eating it by the tablespoonful. The reason for this is, I read it was good for Crohn’s. Many Crohn’s patients have diarrhea issues. The Internet articles claimed coconut oils helps with this problem in some people. However, I do no have this kind of trouble with my intestines. Usually, if anything it’s the opposite.
My first thought was, if coconut oil helps to elevate diarrhea symptoms then it slows the digestive process, but that didn’t make sense. Coconut oil lubricates and I didn’t want to worry about the problems it could cause. I wanted the coconut oil for its antiviral, antibacterial properties because of the inflammation in my small intestines.
The good news is coconut oil keeps the wheels greased. Maybe, a little too much with my daily dose of 2 tablespoons (generally recommended dose given on Internet sources). I didn’t develop diarrhea but more frequent bathroom trips than usual and a noisy tummy.
I kept to this routine for 5-6 days until I realized I an adjustment is needed. On Sunday, I reduced my daily dose to 1 tablespoon, taking half in the morning and the other half in the evening. This helped. Every person’s body responses differently, and I suspect like many things if my body is to tolerate 2 tablespoons of coconut oil then I may need to step it up gradually and then again it may never like that amount. Only time will tell the tale, I will do what is necessary to make sure my intestinal health.
My recommendation is if you choose to try coconut oil straight out of the spoon then to build yourself up to level that your body can tolerate. Who best to say what’s right for you other than you!
Grab a cup of coffee on Tuesday Talk Time and join me as I visit my lovelies.
I’m sorry to tell you about the cancellation this week of Tuesday Coffee Chat due to an unforeseen interruption. Rorybore’s mother is in the hospital and currently stable but more tests are needed. Please join me in prayer, asking the Great Physician to move His hand across a friend’s mom to restoring her health. Thanks!
Why not let her know you’re thinking & praying for her by sending her a tweet @RoryBore. I am sure this will uplift her spirits!
Lord, we surrender our worries to you and ask that you bring peace to Rorybore, answers from the medical test, solutions from the doctor, and complete healing of her mother. Place your comforting touch upon the hearts and minds of this family. In His precious name we pray. Amen
Patrice’s chats on the farmhouse porch questions this week are:
- Do you like avocados? Yes, in guacamole dip. I don’t believe I have eaten avocados any other way. They tend to make my throat itch a bit.
- Have you ever gone on a roller coaster? Yes, my first ever experience on a roller coaster was at King’s Island when I was 14. That was the scariest moment of my life!
- Do you do cross stitch, needlepoint, creel work, or needle punch? No, but I have done some cross stitching. Needlework isn’t one of my favorite hobbies.
- Do you cook with gas or electric? Electric.
- Tell me something good, pleasant, or uplifting. Please. Spring is in 16-days and counting!
Stacy Uncorked is taking a blogging hiatus. You may recall, she and her family moved back to her home state of Washington last summer. For the pas several months, they have lived in Stacy’s parents’ basement. She’s thrilled to report they are finally beginning the last leg of their journey as they settled on a new home long last. Stacy promises me to return to Blogosphere in March. All of her loyal friends, including myself are looking forward to seeing her soon. Until then, I continue doing what I always do… visit my other buds!
Have a terrific Tuesday!
