TAD Boots

Rain’s challenge this Thursday is “Boots”. I found an adorable image to model my sketch off.  Here it is!

I added a bit more personality in each mouse’s face. The expressions tell a story. Mama is worried because one of her babies seems distressed whereas the other three are having loads of fun.

I used my Brushstrokes app to recreate my sketch. The program loses some of the small details but I love the texture of the image.

When I finish an art piece sometimes it doesn’t sit right with me.  That’s what happened when I began composing this post.  I felt my drawing need more of a backdrop.  In the final (I promise) revision I place the playful mice inside a closet.

Drawing the hanging clothes and shoes was a bit tricky.  I used a dark grudge brush across to create a shadowy feeling like you’d imagine it would inside a closet.  No one wants mice in their closet but it’s okay in pictures. 🙂

Do you grow tire of seeing various reworks of the same art piece?  Let me know! 😉

That’s it for today, join me tomorrow for another edition of FFO!

  1. CK we can’t find the rabbits, we have them in the mail, but can’t find them here, they are to lovely for not to show the world😸😺Extra Pawkiss just for you🐾😽💞

    1. I sent the rabbit post back to draft because I didn’t mean to publish it yesterday. I’m finishing it up and plan to share again next Thursday. I’m sorry for the confusion!

  2. We never go tired of your paintings, CK, they are so cute and well drawn in effurry style. This one’s for us, as we love mousies🐭 Double Pawkisses for a Happy Weekend🐾😽💞

    1. Thank you! The little mousies are having tons of fun. I sent the picture to my daughter to share with my granddaughter. I thought LA would like it if the little mice had names and came up with, from left to right) Baby Ruth, Reesey, Snickers, and Rolo. I had chocolates on my mind when I came up with these names. lol

  3. What a cute sketch! I liked the original best, but they’re all good. No surprise to see Nancy Sinatra as the musical accompaniment. 🙂

    1. Every time I think of “boots”, Nancy Sinatra’s song always pops in my head. I knew I had to pair it with my illustration. lol Thanks for visiting, Debbie!

  4. Those are precious! I also liked the rabbit, but cannot find where to leave a comment for that post. If you want to change the angle of the head a tiny touch, I could understand, but it’s not creepy at all.

    1. Mimi,

I accidentally published the Rabbit post a week early. I had intended holding off because the post wasn’t finished. That’s why you can’t find it to leave a comment. I’m sorry for the confusion but thanks for saying the Rabbit isn’t creepy. 🙂
