TAD Appliances

Rain’s art prompt this week is appliances.  I brought back Miss Bunny in my artwork and I have no problem with her this time.  She looks cute and friendly.   Maybe, it’s the pie she’s holding that has me blindsided.

To my Procreate sketch,  I added noise to the image to give it a bit of texture.  It helps to soften the lines and imperfections. If you’re curious to see the difference the noise effect adds, here is the original drawing without the noise adjustment.

I thought illustrating a stove the perfect appliance since I love cooking and baking.

I’m thankful for….

We had an early Easter dinner this past Saturday with our son, DIL, and grandson (LA2). We ate at Mimi’s Cafe, then ran an errand to nearby jeweler to take DH’s mother’s pearls that we inherited for restringing, and then to Baskin Robbins for ice cream for dessert.  Let’s not forget, with Crumbl Cookie next door to BR and the kids hadn’t been there before,  we got them a 6 count of assorted cookies to take home. We got a single cookie, Raspberry Danish to go that we shared after we got home.  LA2 has grown so much since Christmas but then that’s the thing kids do a lot of… grow!

I do my best to find a direct music connection to my art and who would’ve ever thought there’s a band by the name Stove.  Not me! I’ll leave you with the only YT playlist, Stove’s Favorite Friend.  Tomorrow, I’ll be back with a new face sketch with Friday Face Off.   Have a doodletastic weekend!

Who knew there’s a band by the name Stove? Not me! Anyway, I found this tidbit while on YT….

Stove began as a side project of Ovlov front man Steve Hartlett. Hartlett used the moniker to release songs that didn’t quite fit with his other projects, allowing him to experiment with new sounds and songwriting styles. Over time Stove became Hartlett’s focal point and a full band was recruited to perform his noisy, kinetic jams.

I’m always eager to sample and share new discoveries. Is this a group I might find myself listening to all the time? Probably not but I like broadening my music interests with new to me sounds and I hope you find today’s material interesting.

  1. So Miss Bunny is a cutie as is your adorable grandson. I am at a different stage of “Grandmother”. I have both Granddaughters, one is in her 30’s and the other who lives with me is a teeeenaaaager … yikes! There is a lot of work that goes into having a teenager and though I have to admit, it is great fun, I am also pooped by the end of each day. And, of course, there is a boyfriend and her parents are in Thailand … hair pulling time 😂
Your music find is interesting. We have found some awesome groups on YouTube. If you are curious my favorites are Cory Wong, Fearless Flyers and Snarky Puppy. All a sort of jazz/ funk combination. Let me know what you think if you decide to give them a try. So Happy Easter, my friend … until next week,

    1. Raising teenagers when you’re younger is handful enough, I can’t even imagine the challenge older. I hear parents complaining about their small kids sometimes and I think, “This is the easy, fun stage. Just wait until they get older!” That’s when you do a lot more praying! Thanks for dropping by!

  2. Hi, Cathy! I’m very late getting around this week. We just arrived home this evening from Las Vegas. Your Miss Bunny is darling, and her stove looks like my great grandmother’s did. LA2 is darling! Enjoy Easter!

  3. Hi Cathy! ☺ I love your Miss Bunny cookin’ up a storm in her kitchen, how amazing! You did a great job with the cook stove….I used to want to have one of those, but I do appreciate electricity lol. Very well done. I wanted to let you know, I can’t leave comments on older posts, I guess I’m too late! So here are my comments for the previous 4 posts for TADD:

Egg post: Your first paragraph describing your egg meals, omg made me so hungry! And I love your Humpty Dumpty!

Corners post: “Toot Toot Tootsie”…I’ve been singing that over and over for weeks…I watch the old Andy Griffith show and Aunt Bee was singing it on one of the episodes! Love Al Jolson! Your little mouse is adorable!

Boots post: I love your little mice, they are so cute Cathy! And no, I do NOT grow tired of seeing the different versions of your artwork! Love that song too!

Rabbits post: The chocolate cream pie!! OMG!!! That looks so good Cathy! Your rabbit lady is adorable and I personally like the “Brushstrokes”!

    1. Rain,

I close commenting after one week. I get a lot of spam on older posts. That’s very annoying. I hoped doing this it might decrease the amount I get but I don’t think it matters. I may need to rethink this and turn commenting back on for older posts. I’m sorry for the aggravation. I appreciate your kind words on each of my art pieces. Thanks for taking the time to visit!

  4. Happy Easter, Cathy! Love your cute bunny sketch – both versions. 🙂 And your grandson is adorable. Sounds like you are having some fun family time.

  6. Your grandson is adorable Glad you had a nice time with your son and his family. XO

  7. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Thursday Art Date With Rain, dear friend! I am back on the blog scene a few days early this month making the rounds of friends’ blogs and alerting them to my imminent return. I am here at CAAC because I love to view your artwork.

I admire your drawing of Miss Bunny. I can almost smell the aroma coming from that fresh baked pie and can almost hear the whistle of the tea kettle and the bubbling sound of the pot on the boil atop that old-fashioned stove. I think it was a wise decision to add noise and a grainy quality to the scene because it makes it look more old-timey.

It’s a joy to see that picture of LA2. What a handsome boy he already is! Hope by now LA1 has spent some time getting acquainted with him. I’m delighted to know that you and DH celebrated Easter early with that branch of your family.

Thanks for introducing Stove and providing background info on the band. I would call their style “jangle pop” and especially enjoyed the heavy distortion on the first few songs in the set.

I know you have a band battle coming up on the first of the month, and I intend to be here and vote. That same day, Monday, April 1, I will officially return to blogging with a new post of my own and will remain on active duty three days. I hope you can swing by. In the meantime, I wish you and your lovely family a blessed Easter, dear friend Cathy!

    1. I appreciate you giving me the heads up of your return to Blogosphere. I think it’s slowly sinking in that you’re online usually the first of the month and have made a mental reminder to pop in at that time. I’m glad you like my artwork. It was funny sketching Miss Bunny. I think she’s cute. 🙂 We had a grand time with the kids last weekend. I can’t wait to do it again! I’m not knowledgable on the various music genres, so I had to search “jangle pop”. Wiki says, “it’s a subgenre of pop rock or college rock that emphasizes jangly guitars and 1960s-style pop melodies.” I do pick up that 60s vibe Stove uses but I don’t know that I even realized that until you made me aware of their genre style. It’s good to learn something new every day. Yes, it’s almost time for another BOTB. I’ll see you then, have a happy and blessed Easter, Tom!

  8. Glad you found this band since you like a stove..hahaa. I like baking but I like to do other things a more. The babe is cute.

    1. Baking home-made goodies takes a lot of time. I’m not super good at pie making but I try. DH’s mother was a pro! Maybe one day, I’ll be like her!

  9. Lovely painting…I wonder what her pie is…. Not 🐰 I hope. What a lovely little one in the photo and a song by stove… Full marks for you. happy Easter 💜💜
