Friday, I announced the mews that DH & I are are taking vacation time until the end of the month.  It was a bit unexpected but I have posts scheduled so  you won’t miss a thing.  We’re sticking close to home but plan to enjoy some R&R.

DISCLOSURE…this is a mewsic linky party, which means all participates are sharing songs that one can listen to from YouTube or Vimeo and a not a post about mewsic or mewsicians.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

Today’s mewsic line up is proudly taking part in Mary’s annual #RocktoberMusicFest challenge. Have a boogietastic week!  X💋X💋, Cathy

    1. Debbie,

I’ll be away from blogging for two weeks. The time will zip by. I wouldn’t be on now but I was checking out some stuff when I noticed to popped over to read comments. I figured the very least I can do is do that then show visitors I did so by ‘liking’ their message. 😉

  4. I hope you enjoy your R&R. I don’t know most of the songs in your list, but I love Spirit In the Sky and Rain on the Scarecrow.

    Love,
    Janie

  6. Wow, scary music in some ways. I love Ghost Riders in the Sky and one version was done by Lorne Greene! Have a great vacation even if it is a staycation.

  7. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Awww-some 4M Monday, dear friend! I hope you had a great weekend and that you are enjoying your staycation with DH.

I appreciated the introductions to mewsical numbers that are new to my ears. These include country/southern outlaw rocker Chris Stapleton’s song “Scarecrow In The Garden.” The title immediately reminded me of one of your sketches. The song is found on his December 2017 album From A Room: Volume 2. I was curious about the song’s meaning and so I checked on Wiki. It sez: << Featuring Celtic-sounding verses, the ballad “Scarecrow in the Garden” tells the story of an heir of a West Virginia farm, who laments bad times not allowing him to enjoy the same prosperity of his ancestors, an immigrant family from Northern Ireland. >> Another great sound comes from the Nashville based bluegrass band SteelDrivers. “Ghosts of Mississippi” was released on their 2010 album Reckless. A review by AMG states: << “The Steeldrivers may play traditional bluegrass, but they do it with a style that’s informed by outlaw country and rock & roll attitude.” >> Pop jazz singer Kay Starr, who passed away four years ago at age 94, started releasing records the year before I was born. I remember her #1 charting hit singles “Wheel Of Fortune” and “Rock and Roll Waltz.” It was fun listening to her Halloweeny song “Headless Horseman.” An even older oldie comes from UK bandleader Henry Hall who, along with his Orchestra, released “Hush, Hush, Hush, Here Comes the Bogeyman” way back in 1932. Vocals on the recording were done by British dance band singer Val Rosing (later known as Gilbert Russell).

I enjoyed this mixed bag of supernatural tunes, Cathy. Take care and have a great week, dear friend!
