Superhero Humor

You don’t typically think “singer” when you think of Jimmy Durante.  The vaudeville actor was a genuine talent and like so many of the stars from that era did a little bit of everything in the entertainment industry.  Don’t Lose Your Sense of Humor dropped in my lap while pulling together my BOTB reveal post in which Durante won.  I took a quick read at Wiki finding out Jimmy recorded a major hit, Inka Dinka Doo. The 1934 novelty song became his themed song for the rest of his life.

Today’s humor spin-off was inspired by Monday’s music post.  Let’s have some laughs at these superheroes!

Tomorrow is Veterans’ Day.  Thanks you for your service!

This is CAAC signing off,  have a funtastic weekend and don’t forget to boogie back for Monday’s Music Moves Me!

Last month while on our staycation, we took a chair lift to Ankeesta in Gatlinburg, TN. It’s sort of a fantasy themed village with shops, restaurants, and various adventure activities. The sky was a rich crystal clear blue, a very gorgeous day!

More Friday linky parties…

  1. Jimmy Durante was one of a kind, for sure! 🙂 Love the funnies and the veteran’s tribute is spot on. 👌 We have Remembrance Day here, which is similar. Have a good weekend!

  2. I enjoyed your cartoons so much. I loved superhero comics as a child. Didn’t matter if they were DC or Marvel. The elderly veteran cartoon was so poignant and so true. Also, I have to thank Birgit – my late childhood best friend’s mother’s name was Elfriede and she was born in early January, 1919 in Germany. I never, ever made the connection with the end of WWI and her name. Wow. Thank you both! Alana ramblinwitham

  3. Love Jimmy who seemed a genuine warm man. I love that Inka door song. These comics are very funny. I plan to go to a Remembrance Day ceremony Tomorrow. My mom’s actual first name is Elfriede. You pronounce every letter and it’s not and “a” at the end…Elf-free-duh. Anywhoo, her grandmother named her…Elf means 11…the 11th month of the 11th day of the 11 hour when WW1 ended. And Frei means freedom. I always loved the meaning behind her name. Unfortunately, when she came to Canada, people couldn’t pronounce it or they called her Elfie or Freeda which she hated so she went by her middle name, Ruth. Love to visit that fantasy garden.

    1. John,

Thanks for sharing the YT clip. I really got a kick out of watching Jimmy. You’re so right, you can see that he really enjoyed himself. What a performer!
