Stray Cats

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus.

Thank you for making the Sunday Edition of Monday’s Music Moves Me apart of your day!  The theme this week is In honor of Pet Owners Independence Day.  Alana wants us to use songs with these in the title or band name dogs, cats, birds, or pets in general.  At Christmas, I got a Brian Setzer Album to add to my collection thanks to my sweet DH.  Sometime after that, someone in Blogosphere mentioned Brian in relations to the Stray Cats, so when this band popped up in my search I knew I had to go with them.  Are you ready to get to your feet with a bit of modern day jazz? Hit play and swing with me, baby!

Playlist tracks: 1. Runaway Boys 2. Fishnet Stockings 3. Ubangi Stomp 4. Jeanie, Jeanie, Jeanie 5. Storm The Embassy 6. Rock This Town 7. Rumble In Brighton 8. Strut 9. Crawl Up and Die 10. Double Talkin’ Baby 11. My One Desire 12. Wild Saxophone

I hope you enjoyed the music. Now, it’s time for you to step onto the dance floor, just link up your post that contains a song or two, and hop over to any and all of the other party-goers to boogie with them.

In case you missed the announcement Marie, the brain child, felt the need to step down to tend to her health needs and has asked that I take over for her. You will always have a place when you’re ready to come back, my friend!

⭐️April’s honorary co-hostess!⭐️

This is a music linky party.  Your co-hostess are StacyAlana, and Me.   Every other week we have a suggested music theme (see weekly prompts here) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our music enthusiasts.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

I’ll be back tomorrow to continue my Pencil Sketch Inspired Procreate Recreation art series in the April A to Z Challenge with the next letter in the alphabet.  Before I dash off, let me say Happy Easter to all of my peeps. This is a very special occasion for my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ to rejoice that we serve a risen Savior.

Dolly Parton “He’s Alive”

“He’s Alive”

The gates and doors were barred
And all the windows fastened down
I spent the night in sleeplessness
And rose at every sound
Half in hope of sorrow
And half in fear the day
Would find the soldiers breakin’ through
To drag us all away

And just before the sunrise
I heard something at the wall
The gate began to rattle
And a voice began to call
I hurried to the window
Looked down into the street
Expecting swords and torches
And the sound of soldiers’ feet

But there was no one there but Mary
So I went down to let her in
John stood there beside me
As she told me where she’d been
She said they’ve moved Him in the night
And none of us know where
The stone’s been rolled away
And now His body isn’t there

We both ran towards the garden
Then John ran on ahead
We found the stone and empty tomb
Just the way that Mary said
But the winding sheet they wrapped Him in
Was just an empty shell
And how or where they’d taken Him
Was more than I could tell

Oh something strange had happened there
Just what I did not know
John believed a miracle
But I just turned to go
Circumstance and speculation
Couldn’t lift me very high
‘Cause I’d seen them crucify Him
Then I saw Him die

Back inside the house again
The guilt and anguish came
Everything I’d promised Him
Just added to my shame
When at last it came to choices
I denied I knew His name
And even if He was alive
It wouldn’t be the same

But suddenly the air was filled
With a strange and sweet perfume
Light that came from everywhere
Drove shadows from the room
And Jesus stood before me
With His arms held open wide
And I fell down on my knees
And I just clung to Him and cried

Then He raised me to my feet
And as I looked into His eyes
The love was shining out from Him
Like sunlight from the skies
Guilt in my confusion
Disappeared in sweet release
And every fear I ever had
Just melted into peace

He’s alive yes He’s alive
Yes He’s alive and I’m forgiven
Heaven’s gates are open wide
He’s alive yes He’s alive
Oh He’s alive and I’m forgiven
Heaven’s gates are open wide
He’s alive He’s alive
Hallelujah He’s alive
He’s alive and I’m forgiven
Heaven’s gates are open wide
He’s alive He’s alive He’s alive
I believe it He’s alive
Sweet Jesus

Have a blessed and joyful Easter Sunday! This is CAAC signing off,  until next time have a boogietastic week!

  1. The Stray Cats were amazing, we remember them very well, CK, they were a hit in our Country back in the 80ties💗I love that sweet little pussycat in her heartful crib, so awwdorable😸Hope you had a lovely Easter. Extra Pawkisses for now🐾😽💞

  2. Happy Easter to you and yours, Cathy! Love The Stray Cats and their unique sound. Sending blessings to Marie.

  3. Stray Cats are the best kind of cats. I have always liked their sound. Thanks for bringing them to the dance floor this week. Well played, as usual.

  4. Happy Easter Everyone ! Sorry I missed Alana’s theme – have been sick all week – but TOTALLY would have Stray Cat Strutted it had I seen it and had it not been Easter Sunday! Birgit I am so sorry to hear about Lucy. Yes, please do keep us posted on Marie and send her my love. Thanks Cathy for keeping this wonderful community going. Have a blessed week y’all! 🙂

  5. How is Marie? I hope she is recovering nicely. What a sweet pic of mamma cat and her baby. I really like Stray cats and may even have this album. Right now I am sad and anxious because our Lucy is dying. I doubt she will make it to the end of this day.

  6. Happy Easter to you, Cathy, and thank you for taking over the reins of Music Moves Me (and all the prior help you gave to Marie). I knew, I think, three of these (their hits) and I used one in my music post today, so great minds. There were a couple of new ones here I really liked – Ubangi Stomp and Storm the Embassy. 7. Awww on the kitty and mom trying to get a moments rest. So cute.

Love your music choice. Great playlist.

    Happy Easter my friend.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous day and week, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥

  8. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Paw-some 4M Monday on Sunday, dear friend! I hope you and DH are having a nice weekend, and I wish you and your family (including LA) a blessed Easter celebration.

Awww. I just wanna smooch that little kitten, but the mama would surely claw my face if I tried. Seems the tiny kitty doesn’t want to take a timeout from playing and go down for a nap. There’s a lesson for us all. Stay curious as a cat about the world around you and you will not need to sleep or even want to sleep.

Yessum, Brian Setzer and The Stray Cats have a distinctive sound. Their rockabilly style is ideal for my SPMM radio show Hepcat Black and His Pink Cadillac. “Fishnet Stockings” reminds me how many songs of early rock & roll and rockabilly focused on items of clothing a sexy woman might wear for a night out on the town with her sweetie. Other titles I’ve come across discuss women wearing tight dresses and cheap perfume. Two things I have noticed about the genre. Many if not most songs begin with the word “Well”… and too many sound the same, with the same hyped up vocals, same instruments, same reverb, same backbeat and same tempo. In other words, the songs are enjoyable but sound repetitive when played one after another in a series.

Continued well wishes for friend Marie as she recovers on the sidelines. Thanks for posting Dolly’s inspiring Easter song and lyrics. Again, I wish you and your family a blessed Easter celebration, dear friend Cathy. I’ll be back to see you tamale for O-Day on the A to Z circuit!
