Howdy-hi, folks! How was your weekend? Welcome to Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me on Sundays! The theme is freedom of music choice. In June, Mary introduced me to the American rock band Stone Temple Pilots with “Interstate Love Song” (1995). The group formed in the late 80s in San Diego, California under a different name. They signed with Atlantic Records as Stone Temple Pilots (STP) releasing their 1992 debute album, Core. They became one of the most commercially successful bands in the 90s selling 18+ million albums in the US and 40mill globally. Why this group escaped my attention probably was due to ‘Mommy Amnesia” and to this day I still suffer with blank memory pockets from those early years.
After going through their older tunes on YouTube only a few grabbed my attention but it was a newer album from February 2020 that I enjoyed the most and am bringing it to you this morning… Perdida!

This is a music linky party. Every other week we have a suggested mewsic theme (see side menu) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our mewsic enthusiasts. Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.
In closing, I’m happy to bring to you the results from my November 1st B.O.T.B. It won’t come as any surprise to most of you that this showdown weighted heavily in favor of one singer than the other. In this battle round SABINE HEIL won easy peasy! Here’s how the voting went.
Susanne – Mimi and Lee
Sabine – Mary, Mike, Debbie, Birgit, Stephen, Eugenia, Brian, John, Sandee, & Tom
I appreciate everyone who played along and if you missed out this time, don’t worry. In my upcoming battle showdown, I’m breaking away from the 007 theme music with two seasonal battles scheduled in December. I hope you’ll join me on December 1st for my next B.O.T.B.!
Calling all 4Mers, I would love to have you as honorary co-host for a month next year. The calendar is beginning to fill, please email me now so I can hold your spot. 😉 Today ends our staycation but I’m now a bit unprepared for the week ahead. I may not slay things exactly as I hoped with my return but I’ll get there. Thanks for joining me on the party. Join me next time for Tickle Me Tuesday. Have a boogietastic week! X💋X💋, Cathy

The mewsic was very touching and thank you for introducing this also to us and for linking up the other day. We now know what they have changed in the linking up, so now we can do it all by ourself again🎉
Pawkisses for a powerful weekend🐾😺💞

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous day and week, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥
Sandee,
Photographed critters can be really adorable but in real life they are ferrous and can inflict a lot of damage. I know to keep my distance. Thanks for visiting, my dear!
I must say these songs are sooooooooooooooo pretty. I loved listening to them especially the very first one. Girlfriend I always knew you had great taste in music, but you done out did yourself sweetie this time. Hope you’re having a great day. HUGS, HUGS & MORE HUGS The “Amazing Grace” tune is new & the other tunes are awesome. I have never heard her sing it before. Thanks for sharing. Sending big hugs
Marie,
It’s great to have you stop by to dance with me and that you enjoyed the music. Have a boogietastic week, my dear!
I’m glad Sabine won and the mouse is clever. I love raccoons as they are so clever and cute but watch out as they can be nasty when they want to be. This band is great and I enjoyed these songs. I forgot about them until now.
Birgit,
Oh yeah, those coons can be really nasty. I like to see them from a distance and that’s fine by me.
Hi Cathy, welcome back from your staycation. I love the photo! We had a racoon in our tree exactly like that not long ago. 😀 Your Stone Temple Pilots playlist is most enjoyable – soothing and mellow. No surprise that Sabine won BOTB with her beautiful voice. Have a good week!
Debbie,
Thanks for checking out my BOTB outcome and for the visit, my dear. It’s good to be back in Blogosphere. 😉
That’s a clever little mouse
Robin,
I wonder if got that chuck cheese safely? 🙂
That is such a classic album. Thanks for featuring it.
Patrick,
Hmm, that’s good to know this is classic album since I’m not familiar with the group. lol
That raccoon is so cute. WOW, I hadn’t heard that group in a long time, very cool!
Brian,
That’s fabulous that you’re family with my featured band. Thanks for dropping by, furriend!
Great stuff, your music, your Spark and your Aww. Have a wonderful week!
Mimi,
Thanks for making my day a little happier with your visit, my friend.
I have heard of the group, but never heard their music. Have a great week. XO
Ellen,
I’m glad you got a chance to sample some of their music. Thanks for visiting, my dear!
Hi, Cathy! I love the pic of the raccoon and that clever little mouse trying to beat the odds. Thank for the BOTB results, which was pretty one-sided. Btw, I moved my blog to a self-hosted blog. https://amanpan.com
Eugenia,
Thanks for the heads up on the blog move. You kept the same url so that’s really cool. Do you mind me asking which host site you went with? Thanks for dropping by, my dear!
I am using Bluehost. They were very supportive and helpful. I created the domain name right after I started blogging. It references my cat, Angel Amanda. Her papered name was Amanda Panda. So I just transferred the domain.
I’m not sure what swayed me to use Arvixe when I moved to this hosted site but I do recall Bluehost being a consideration. Arvixe has always taken good care of me. I love that they have technical chat support, so I don’t have to worry about the language barrier that often makes it difficult for me to understand and their staff are generally pretty darn sharp. It’s not easy to give long distance support so they deserve a tip of the hat. If ever I become dissatisfied, then I will look into Bluehost. Thanks for telling me how you came up with your blog url. I didn’t know the story behind it. 🙂
Bluehost has technical chat support, as well. I wouldn’t have it any other way because it is difficult to understand an accent especially when discussing technical terms.
This was not what I was expecting. Definitely in the easy listening/background music category. Kind of sad, dreamy, good for a “Calgon, take me away” moment. My favorite was the last song, Sunburst.
Alana,
Yes, Perdida has that dreamy quality. That’s one reason why I enjoyed STP’s album. I may have to listen to more of their music to see if this style holds true.
Hi, Cathy!
Happy Pawww-some 4M Monday on Sunday, dear friend! I hope you and DH are having a nice weekend and that you are having lots of fun on your hiatus.
Awww – I wanna smooch that coon in his tree hole, but I’m afraid he’d bite me.
I enjoyed hearing the Stone Temple Pilots’ 2020 album Perdida for the first time. It’s interesting that the band’s original name was Mighty Joe Young, the title of one of my favorite sci-fi fantasy horror movies about a giant ape similar to King Kong and the sweet country girl who kept him as a pet. I read that Paste, the music industry magazine, describes the song content of Perdida as a “seamless blend of country, British and Mariachi folk, orchestral pop and soft rock.” By the time the heavily acoustic album reached the title song, “Perdida,” I was really getting into the sound, and “I Didn’t Know The Time” is my favorite song so far, just wonderful. “Years” has a dreamlike, stream of consciousness quality to it, and I’m loving the flute. This album is taking me back to the sound of some of the great late 60s/early 70s jazz rock, folk rock and soft rock bands that featured many quiet, laid-back tracks on their albums, songs that freed your mind and lifted your spirit to a higher plane. The band America comes to mind. As I recall, the common wisdom in the record business is to arrange the song lineup on an album similar to the way a baseball team arranges the batting order, with the heavy hitters starting at the second or third position and continuing through the “heart of the order.” That’s what we have here on this Perdida album, with my favorite song, “I Didn’t Know The Time” in the 4th or “cleanup” position. “She’s My Queen” is another fantastic song, the fourth in a row that really grabs me. The last track,”Sunburst” is another wonderful song.
To sum it up, Perdida is a delightful album by Stone Temple Pilots, one that would stand up to repeat listening. Thank you for posting it!
Thanks too for reporting the results of your latest Bad Battle. Early on, I got the feeling that a landslide was in the making in favor of German songstress Sabine Heil. I enjoyed the bonus video with Sabine doing a medley of inspirational songs ending with “Oh Happy Day,” a cover of the 1969 hit by The Edwin Hawkins Singers,
Awww – I wanna smooch that cute little mouse trying to figure out a safer way to get his cheese.
Have a wonderful Sunday and I’ll see you on Tickle Me Tuesday, dear friend Cathy!
Tom,
Thanks for being the first person to come by the 4M party. I’m happy you enjoyed STP’s album. As for my battle, I was surprised that it stayed heavy to one side. I felt both artists were good and was sure there would be others who felt a little pulled in giving their vote to one gal but looks like I was wrong.
