Sleigh Ride

I think we all have a bit of kid in us, so I couldn’t resist sharing this vintage sleigh ride scene for you.  You can print the image off to color or if you’d prefer you can color it online

It used to be every time I see a jigsaw puzzle, I thought about my great-grandpa Payne.  He lined the walls of their farmhouse screened-in porch with the puzzles that he put together then glued to a board.  I thought that was really neat but in recent years I’m reminded of my late Father-in-Law.  I never thought of my in-laws as having a hobby but he had two, jigsaw puzzles and playing computer card games such as Spider solitaire.  If you like putting them together but without the fuss of having puzzle pieces spread across your dining room table, then try your hand at this vintage Christmas card scene, below.

Thursday Art Date with Rain prompt for today is ‘Flavors & Aromas‘. Here’s my iPad Procreate illustration of our little Angelina snitching a Christmas cookie from the table.

I did a bit more doodling with this illustration, mostly playing with various filters and effects in the Procreate app as well as my desktop Pixelmator Pro photo editing software producing some fun changes but I won’t share it today. Okay, I changed my mind. Here’s the tweaked version. In Procreate, I added the gaussian blur effect making the table cloth appear a soft red and then various colors and sizes of bokehn lights then I ran my image through Pixelmator Pro to droppping the exposure to give the final sketch a warmer feel.

Have a fun filled day and join me tomorrow with the continuation of my Christmas Mewsic Marathon!

  1. There’s something about the physical act of putting pieces together that I like about jigsaws. Doing it on the computer is just not the same. Same with coloring.

    Nice artwork.

  2. Your picture is so cute and love the little child peeking at the cookies…that would be my husband. I would colour that picture if I knew how:) A very fun piece of music too

  3. Love the video and I did puzzles for years and years. Do then online now, but I had a dining room table that I worked my puzzles on. A fun thing to do.

I love your sketches. You are most talented.

Have a fabulous day, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥
