September 1st #BoTB showdown Results

Hello, Kittens & Dawgs! It’s the weekend and I’m MIA, but I wanted to share how things went in my last BoTB between Cleopatra and Army Navy.

My two battle contenders weren’t a purrrfect matchup.  Contender #1 stayed in the forefront throughout the competition.  The voting pattern never sways my decision.  I always give listen once more and sometimes two or three times before I decide on my favorite cover artist.  In this round, I most definitely agree with the majority that Cleopatra sings it better winning the showdown with a 9 to 4 victory.  Congratulations!  👏

Cleopatra’s Theme reached #3 in the UK and peaked #26 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1998.  Its the only Cleopatra song to reach America’s top 40 effectively making them a one-hit wonder.  They had greater success in their home country with their other singles.

Mine will be anything but relaxing so enjoy it for me! 😁

  1. Not a bad Battle, CATHY. I feel that any contest that ends with a margin of victory of no more than 5 votes was successful. When we get to a 6 vote (or more) differential, that’s when we’re in blowout territory.

I’ve been praying for you and hope that things work out alright. I don’t know what those “things” are, but I’m praying in general terms, and He hears those prayers every bit as well as He hears more specific prayers, After all, as “The Book” says, He knows of our needs even before we ask Him about them.

Hang in there, Cathy, and your faith will get you through any and all trials.

  2. Hi, Cathy!

Thanks for reporting the result of your latest battle. I’m happy to know Team Cleo won and glad that your ears matched mine this time around. When you listen to Cleopatra and watch their videos it’s hard to believe they are a group of Brit girls. You could easily imagine them coming from Detroit. Cleopatra enjoyed six top 40 hits back home in the UK but, as you indicated, they had only one major hit in the U.S. It seems odd that “Cleopatra’s Theme” reached #26 on the U.S. pop chart but peaked at only #51 on the black chart. Their follow-up single “Life Ain’t Easy,” reached #81 on the Hot 100 and #64 on the R&B survey, but cracked the top 5 in the UK.

Thanks for mewsic to start my Saturday morning, dear friend Cathy. Have a great weekend!
