Self-titled Song series featuring Avantasia

Sandee from Comedy-Plus hosts Awww Mondays each week!

How was your weekend? I’m sure many of you are shocked by the news of Kobe Bryant, his daughter, and 7 others killed in the helicopter accident yesterday. What a sad day! It served to remind me just how fragile life is and death comes to us all despite age.  My prayers to those personally who lost loved ones in that disaster.  May God’s presence fill you with peace and His grace sustain you in the coming days, as it’s Time to Say Goodbye to those you love.

Welcome to Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me!  It’s the last Monday of the first month of the new year and it went by all too quickly, don’t you agree?

Thanks to Musings and Merriment with Michelle’s for being a great honorary co-hostess this month. You gave us some great themes. On-behalf of the 4M crew you’re welcome to fill in anytime. We’d love it! Just let XmasDolly or me know and we’ll put ya down for the gig.  Alright, this week’s theme is “your choice song picks” so anything goes, whatever moves ya we want to hear it!

I’m rolling out another exciting and challenging mewsic series featuring self-titled songs.  There are number of these songs that are new to me.  I’m not a metal rocker but Avantasia caught my ear with their self-titled song (#13 on the playlist) and so I decided to share their entire album, The Metal Opera Pt. 1 from YouTube.

What did you think of Avantasia? Can you name a self-titled song without asking Google? If so, leave your answer in comments. 😉 Alright it’s time to join the dance party.

DISCLOSURE…this is a mewsic linky party, which means all participates are sharing songs that one can listen to from YouTube or Vimeo and a not a post about mewsic or mewsicians.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

[tweetthis]Hit the #MondaysMusicMovesMe dance floor with me! @xmasdolly [/tweetthis]

The next time we hit the floor it’ll be a new month with a new co-hostess which reminds me, we need someone to fill in for March as honorary co-hostess. Would you like to do it? Zip me an email, let me know in comments, or both saying ‘Yeah, count me in! I wanna do fill those special boogie shoes!”

That’s it for now but I’ll return tomorrow with some randomness and giggles with Tickle Me Tuesdays. Come join the fun! Meanwhile, what mewsic is movin’  you today?

  1. Hi again, Cathy. I was able to visit and comment on every blog in the blog hop but one,McLachlans. I got a Trojan virus warning when I tried to visit. See you later.

    1. Cynthia,

Hmmm, I didn’t get a Trojan virus warning when I visited McLachlans’ blog. I will reach out to the author to double check to see if she’s in control of her site and that she in fact added this link to the party. Thanks for the heads up!

  2. This is some good mewsic, Cathy! Yes, very sad about Kobe and the others, which we must be grateful for every day we are alive!

  3. Such adorable little cuties! 💖

Yes, very sad and shocking news about Kobe Bryant, his daughter and all the others. 🙁 It just drives home the point that we need to make the most of life. One never knows when it will end! Personally, I had a lovely long weekend (hubby took Monday off), celebrating my birthday. 🙂

A lot of metal music has classical overtones and I LOVE this album by Avantasia! Thanks for the introduction, I’ll be going to Wiki and Youtube to learn more.

    1. Debbie,

I’m glad you had a lovely extra long weekend with the hubster and how sweet he took the day off to celebrate your birthday. I’m happy to have introduced to you a new heavy metal band. It’s fun to find unlikely group picks for my ears to discover they have something that I like. 🙂

  4. I have never heard of Avantasia. That was sad news about Kobe Bryant, his daughter and the other 7. XO

    1. Ellen,

Yep, sad mews indeed. Life does go on, though. It was such a shock. I feel for his wife and other daughters not to mention the other families who lost loved ones. We just never know when our number will be called.

  5. Well, I can think of a handful of self titled songs: Talk Talk. Big Country. Icehouse. (I especially love that song.) I know there are a lot of others. I’ll have to listen to this album when I have more time, Cathy. I sampled it briefly with my husband – at least some of it sounds like another group, Dragonforce, which our son introduced us to by zillions of repetitions of him playing “Guitar Hero” back in his teenaged years.

    1. Alana,

You’re the only one so far to give me some groups to consider and none of them have I’ve heard of…I don’t think, so I’m going to jot these down. 🙂 Thanks a heap!!

  6. Well, I spent half the day seeing blogs from last week cuz it never dawned on me it was the wrong day. Then I saw it AUGHHHHHHHHHHHHH Then someone told me my linky was closed. Aughhhhhhhhh I changed it with the one you emailed me and guess I had the wrong one. I came over here and got the right linky and I’m just about done, but I’ve been sitting here all day. Man, people really had some great songs today didn’t they. Some of them were so very sweet too like that toy story one. Anyway, have a great day sweetie and I loved your tunes too! hugs

    1. Marie,

Everyone came up with some fab songs! I love seeing what everyone shares on freebie week. Do your email conversations stay together? If so, then I can see how you might have pulled the wrong linky code. I’ve nearly made that mistake myself. 🙂 Thanks for popping by to boogie with me, my dear!

  7. Hi, Cathy! How are you today? I’m not familiar with Avantasia, but I remember Time to Say Goodbye. Andrea Bocceli recorded it and sang Time to Say Good night to Elmo. I think Susan Boyle has recorded it, as well .The music from the second video sounds rather ominous, but one of my friends who has a heavy metal podcast will love it.
Those donkeys are cute and cuddly, like my Yorkie Ziggy.
I just posted about a song from another animated movie, An American Tail. Have a great week!

    1. Cynthia,

I almost went with Andrea’s version but I love the sound of Celtic Woman and their cover seemed more fitting, like the voices of angels singing farewell. Last year’s AGT Championship round, they had Susan Boyle on and it was at that time I realized just how good her voice is – amazing talent! Thanks for boogieing with, my dear.!

  8. That was some great mewsic from Avantasia, CK. It sounds familiar 😀 What a terrible accident it was. Heartbreaking 😿 Pawkisses for a Happy Mewsical Monday🐾😽💞

  9. Those wee cuties are adorable. Oh it was so sad about Kobe, his daughter and the others. The only Avantasia we heard of was the Disney movie MOL!

    1. Brian,

Oh my brain is so slow this morning! I was thinking, seriously Avantasia and Disney? Then it clicked! That sounds like something DH would come up with. 😀

  10. They are cuties and they are not lazy. Adorable.

It was so sad he hear about the helicopter crash. So sad. You’re right, life can be here and then gone in the next instant. Live, love and laugh while you’re here.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥

  11. The photo of the little furry ones is adorable. Life is precious and can change at any moment which is why you need to live each minute as if it will be the last.
