Savage Garden’s Best 6 Songs

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus.

This week’s Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me theme is your choice song picks.   A while back while working on a theme, I got things crossed up.  When I realized my goof, I decided to save the playlist to use for a non-themed week.

The original theme had to do with gardens or gardening.  I thought it would be interesting instead of finding songs about such things and go with band names that include ‘garden’.  My options were limited to Soundgarden and Savage Garden.  I went with the later because their genre is more to my liking.  They only have a couple hits I’m familiar with so I used Billboard to build Savage Garden’s Best 6 Songs playlist.  Okay, hit play to enjoy the tunes!

Playlist by year and rank: [1]  I Want You (5.10.1997) #4  [2]Truly Madly Deeply (1.17.1998)  #1  [3]To The Moon and Back (8.28.1998)  #24  [4] The Animal Song (4.23.1999) #19  [5] I Knew I Loved You (1.29.2000)  #1   [6]Crash and Burn (5.27.2000) #24

This is a mewsic linky party. Every other week we have a suggested mewsic theme (see side menu) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our mewsic enthusiasts.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

I’m on my summer blogging mode.  I’ll be back again next week on the dance floor and I hope you’ll join the fun. Tell a friend to come with you to make the party more livelier.  That’s a wrap for now. Have a boogietastic week!  X💋X💋, Cathy

    1. Natasha,

Thanks for joining me on the dance floor. Hey, if you have music then you know that’s a sure way to get me over to your place. Of course, I always love your photos and musings, so just leaving your footprints in comments will having me following right after you. 😉

  1. Tried calling you, but I got your machine. 🙁 It’s okay. I’ll get something worked out sooner or later I’m sure. Hugs… Love all your tunes girlfriend. If I could only figure out something where people can sign. 🙁 Hugs

    1. Marie,

When did you try calling? My phone call log doesn’t show a missed call nor did I get a message on my machine. Did you leave one? If so, I guess you got someone else’s phone. 😀 I’m available today for awhile, if you want to call or I can call you. 😉

  2. Great songs here. So wonderful. Sorry that I am so late, it has been a crazy and busy week. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful weekend,

  3. i have heard the name Savage Garden, I think, I might know one or two of their songs – none you featured – I liked four of the six, which isn’t bad, not bad at all. (I think the first one was my favorite). And I thank Thomas for posting “Life is a Rock (But the Radio Rolled Me)” because I haven’t heard that song in forever!

  4. I knew I should’ve took better notes. I went to do my blog and talk about BLANK! 🙁 So sorry. I feel like such a boob! I’m going to have to figure out something. I’m so very sorry. I’ll call you this week if you have time. I’m going out with my daughter & granddaughter tomorrow. Have a great day. HUGS

  5. Awww on that cute kitty and the words are even better. Right back at you.

Love the playlist. Always good to listen to toe tapping music.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Love and hugs. ♥

    1. Nicole,

I’m happy you found time to boogie with me. Life is busy on this end and as you can see I’m running late catching up with folks. Have a funtastic week, darlin’!

  6. Some fun songs and the one is most famous which, I think, is Truly, Madly, Deeply. This is also a movie starring Alan Rickman. I am Ms. Glitter Glue!!

    1. Birgit,

Truly, Madly, Deeply and I Knew That I Loved You are the only two songs that really jingled a bell with me. I haven’t heard of the movie Ms. Glitter Glue. Now, I’m curious. 🙂

  7. Good morning you sweet litte pussycat, same to you eh…😸That’s a fantastic choise, CK, Granny has big memories of the second song, it brought her back to the 90’s right away😸Pawkisses for a Happy Swinging Week ahead🐾😽💞

    1. I’m so glad I brought back some fond memories for Granny with this week’s 4M song picks. Thanks for joining me on the dance floor, Binky. You’re a pawwwsome furriend!

  8. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Awww-some 4M Monday to you, dear friend! I hope you and DH had a nice weekend.

It’s refreshing to see a cat meme with a sweet, sincere message & wish instead of a snarky put-down. I wanna roll that little kitten over on its back and tickle its belly!

I wasn’t familiar with the Aussie pop duo Savage Garden. Thanks for the introduction! I’m happy that you turned me on to them. I love their sound. Right off the bat, the first song, “I Want You,” grabbed my attention and had my mind screaming “Life Is A Rock!” I looked it up and, sure enough, it is commonly agreed that the vocals, production, arrangement and rapid-fire pace of the song combine to make it sound a lot like the famous 1974 hit “Life Is a Rock (But the Radio Rolled Me)” by “Bubblegum King” Joey Levine and his studio-based pseudo band Reunion. My ears say that’s a good thing, because I love “Life Is A Rock” and still own my copy of the original 45. Listen to the similarity!

“Truly Madly Deeply” shot to #1 in the U.S. and It is easy to understand why. The song is beautiful. The melody and harmonies are glorious, arrangement interesting and the lyrics touching without being overly weepy. No wonder it won << Single of the Year and Highest Selling Single and was nominated for Song of the Year, ” according to Wiki. The song would work well in the soundtrack of a romantic movie. I pick up a George Michael & Wham vibe on “To The Moon…” which went top 3 in the UK and top 25 in the U.S. “I Knew I Loved You” was Savage Garden’s second chart-topping U.S. single. The late 90s was the era of boy groups, and Savage Garden was as good as any of them.

You should know by now that I am thankful that you saved this playlist for a rainy day. These guys really had a great sound, and I’m surprised I never heard of them before. Thanks for putting this marvelous melodious mewsic into my morning and have a wonderful week, dear friend Cathy!

    1. Tom,

“Life Is A Rock (But the Radio Rolled Me)” is an oldie I had forgotten about. It was great to listen for the first time in many years. I can hear the similarity in styles of the two bans. I don’t think I would’ve had you not mentioned it, though. I love when you come up with little nuggets like this to share! Thanks for joining me on the dance floor, my friend. I hope you’re having a boogietastic week!!
