Round 5 BOTB ‘Bette Davis Eyes’ Showdown RESULTS

I’m taking it easy these days while I prepare for the big annual event coming up next month (A to Z Challenge) but as promised I’m back to announce the winner in last week’s battle.

When I put this battle’s artists up I entered the showdown with an idea of how I thought it would go but in the end, I was pleasantly surprised how the voting went.

This is how the contenders faired on center stage with ‘Bette Davis Eyes’.

I had one rouge vote for Kim Carnes so that one doesn’t count. Sorry, Jacqui! 🙁  Dean Ray finally got in the game capturing only one vote (John from The Sound of One Hand Typing). Brandon Flowers did better swaying four bloggers to cast his name in the hat ( Myke, Sandee, Ellen, & Debbie). The real surprise came with Toughcats sprang forth hard and fast capturing a huge margin with their rough garage band sound (Brain, Sandy, Stephen, Lee, Tom, Mimi, Mary, Amy, Eugenia, & Alana) with a grand total of 10 votes giving them the golden mic award in this BoTB.

The Toughcats last studio album ‘Rough Ones‘ released 2014. Please give another listen to the winner!

This warning is only needed if you don’t let the wife first take care of herself instead of the house. 🙂

Check with battle coordinator STMP presents BOTB for more showdown results. Join me on March 15th for another showdown. 😉

Although, I’m keeping blog hop participation to a minimum you can count on my mewsic shares as those are scheduled, otherwise, my Blogosphere presence is limited to comment responses and return visits.  I’d like to say my days run like a well-greased wheel but that’d be a lie and it’s all I can do sometimes to keep up. Normal life will resume (whatever that is) in May. 😉

That’s me, I haven’t had any film loaded since the late 80s. Care to guess why not? I’ll give you three guesses. LOL

That’s a wrap for now.  You’re invited to hit the dance floor with your choice mewsic picks on Mondays Mewsic Moves Me!

  1. It’s that me, STMcC.

Wow! CATHY, I’m glad the Toughcats pounced all over the competition! Next time, the mice will know better than to venture out when the Toughcats are on the prowl.

Ordinarily, I don’t really care who wins BOTB competitions. It’s all just light fun for me, and I rarely have an emotional investment in the outcomes. But in this case, I really DID want the Toughcats to win, because I thought they were fun to watch, because it looked like they were having fun performing. And like I said, I imagine they would have gotten along well with the fun boys I was running around with back in the early ’80s (The League Of Soul Crusaders).

I’m glad the winners won, and I’m looking forward to whatever you have up your sleeve on March 15th. (Try not to spill any green beer on yourself, my friend. [;-)

STMcC Presents BATTLE OF THE BANDS

    1. Stephen,

I’m glad the Toughcats won this battle, too. It was obvious they were having a good time playing. The other contenders just didn’t capture that kind of energy in their studio renditions and I seriously doubt they wouldn’t be much of a match had their purrformances been live. No worries I won’t spill any green beer on me. That’s because I don’t drink it! lol I plan on having rootbeer instead. You know like Snoopy. 🙂

  2. Normal life? The three big fears are that things will never get back to normal, things have already gotten back to normal, and this is it, and there is no normal.

    Congratulations to the Toughcats!

    1. Mimi,

Oh I hear you about the normal thingy never feeling quite right. I guess we evolve into a new normal as life goes by as we find what once was normal got replaced somewhere along the way. Sometimes it’s good and other times…well, you just learn to deal. Our attitude is what makes those times better. 🙂

  3. The first time I heard “Bettie Davis Eyes” I thought I was hearing “Bettie Davis-ised” which sort of made sense.
You know, like my McDonald’s order was Super-sized.

    1. Myke,

Oh, that’s good! It’s funny how we mishear lyrics. This is good! Haven’t you heard, the super-sized McDonald’s orders aren’t good for you? lol Now, you got me wanting burgers & fries. Maybe a milkshake, too.

  4. Glad the Touch Cats won – ..Hope your days allow for some fun – … I’ll check out a few of those songs.

    1. Sandy,

We didn’t get out this weekend, except on Sunday to do some shopping and we took a look at two new properties. Despite the windiness & clouds, we had a gorgeous warm day! On our way home the car thermometer read 74º. I’m sure it was off a degree or two but still, I wasn’t complaining. 🙂

    1. Morgan,

Recipe theme sounds like a good idea. I’m always interested in finding new ones. Thanks for the heads up and for the visit. Have a foodielicious week!

  5. I thought for sure I voted as i know I listened to them all. I am not surprised they won and I think I voted for them too. I have to double check:) Have a great weekend and happy A to Z drawing and writing

    1. Birgit,

No worries about missing out. You can try in my upcoming BoTB round on Friday. I did check my spam folder to see if you did by chance vote but nothing is there and who knows maybe you did and the cyber monster ate it. 🙂

  6. Well, I didn’t pick the winner this time. Okay, maybe next week.

Love the no film one. I knew a few of those.

The kitties are cute and I linked to you Feline Friday.

Have a fabulous day and weekend, Cathy. Hugs and love. ♥

  7. Hi, Cathy!

Thanks for reporting the final tally in your latest BOTB. I am happy to be back on the winning team, especially in a three way race. When I cast my vote for the Maine Toughcats I thought I might be the only one. I’m glad the ears of so many others agreed with mine. I enjoyed listening to their album. My favorite songs are “In The Sun,” “Sing To Me,” “Rough Ones,” “Stuck In Your Mind,” “Angry Fossil” (an instrumental with violin) and the last song, “Late Boat,” which is my favorite. The lead singer’s voice reminds me of Canned Heat. The Toughcats should cover their songs.

Have a safe and happy weekend, dear friend Cathy!

    1. Tom,

I was almost blown away with the numbers Toughcats got. Like you, I figured I was the only one who would like them but that wasn’t the case at all. ‘Rough Ones’ is one of my favorites from this album, too. Thanks for dropping by, my friend!
