Rainy Days and Mondays #RMF

We’re in the home stretch with October soon coming to an end. Can you believe this is the last week of the month? Not me!  It’s like one minute it was September and now it’s almost November. Did I fall asleep?

Thanks for swinging over and if you’re looking for the 4M dance floor, then say no more boogie with me HERE and when you get done come back to check this post.

Alrighty, as you know I’m taking part in the second annual Roctober Mewsic Festival hosted by Mary from Jingle Jangle Jungle. I’ve been revisiting some of the classic 70s mewsicians and songs that either I didn’t catch the artist/band name or just forgot that I loved in my teen years.

As the month comes to an end I feel like I’ve nearly exhausted all of my mewsic options so today might be on the skinny side for your listening pleasure.

I hope you’ll travel with me back in time tomorrow with another edition of Rocktober Mewsic Festival!

X💋X 💋, Cathy

  1. Cathy,

This is one of my favorite Carpenter’s tunes. We’re not getting rain here… but we had plenty of wind and that other 4 letter word – SNOW!! We’ve hit extreme cold temperatures this week, and I just want to stay in bed with a warm blanket.

I can’t believe how quickly this month has gone by. Thanks so much for joining in the fun this month! Let’s do it again next year!

    1. Mary,

Good grief, y’all are getting snow? That would make me want to stay in bed, too. Our temps are mild for the moment. We’re expecting some rain to move in tomorrow and I think there’s a cold system tailing behind so we’ll get some cooler temps. I’m with you, I can’t believe how fast October has zipped by. I suspect it’ll be like this for the rest of the year, too.

  2. We are lucky to have kind of Summer…well..freezing Summer, but with Sunshine. I’ll send some beams for you today, CK. Hope you catch them😸Pawkisses for a Happy Tuesday🐾😽💞

  3. Love the Carpenters and this song was a favorite of mine for a very long time. The kind of song you sang along with on the radio as your driving down the road and singing at the top of your lungs.. hehehehe! Haven’t heard it in such a long time. Thanks Cat! HUGS

  4. Fantastic song by a fantastic singer. Although, generally speaking, I prefer male singers to female singers, my #1 favorite singer of all time was Karen Carpenter. That voice of hers was truly a gift from God!

  5. Love the song, as with many others of the Carpenters. Interesting that you use the word “skinny” to describe this selection given the problems that Karen had. Such a sad ending. Happy Monday to you.

    1. Janet,

You know I didn’t realize my word choice and the Karen’s eating disorder connection. However, I guess could’ve been a subconscience thing. I certainly didn’t mean anything by it, though. I remember her death shook me a bit because I had no clue of the disorder and the problem it was for other women. Truly sad to go to that extreme for whatever reasons that drive the individuals.

      1. It may just be the way my crazy mind works sometimes to catch things like that. I’m sure you meant no disrespect. It was a sad way to alert the world of such a terrible eating disorder.

  6. I sang alto in the junior high chorus. We never got to sing the melody, we always sang the harmony…until the teacher chose “Rainy Days and Mondays” as one of our songs. thanks for the memory.

  7. It’s incredible how fast the time flies! 😮 I’ve enjoyed your RMF entries, Cathy and the memories they bring back. I know how hard it is to participate in a daily, month-long challenge (which is why I don’t do them, anymore 🙂 ) and can imagine you must be pretty tired, at this point. Have a good week!

  8. Hi, Cathy!

Rainy days and Mondays always get me down, and so does the beautiful voice and images of Karen Carpenter, because of the tragic outcome of her life. The Carpenters were so successful that we have a wealth of great clips of them performing over their truncated career. Thank you for posting this song. It’s one of their best. Every time I hear it, I am reminded that it was co-written by Paul Williams, who had an acting role in one of my favorite movies, the 1966 drama The Chase starring Marlon Brando, Jane Fonda and Robert Redford. I highly recommend it!

I hope your week is off the a great start, dear friend Cathy. Happy Monday to you!

    1. Tom,

You know I totally forgot that I created a separate RMF post today. Gee, that’s what happens when I throw myself into hyper-speed when participating in these challenges. This is a sad song especially reflecting on the tragic life of Karen Carpenter. She had a beautiful voice that will never grow out of time. Thanks for joining me again, my friend!

  9. I am going to have this song in my head all day long. I am glad it is not raining here though. Have a nice day! XO
