I listened to this set of songs by singer/songwriter Renée Wahl as I drank my first cup of coffee this morning. I took the full ride, too, because, the more I listened, the more I liked her. Renée has a strong, clear voice and uses the vocal break technique masterfully. Her recordings are richly layered and boast interesting, compelling lyrics. By the time I hit the third song I was googling this young lady to find out more. I see that Renée is a rising star in the indie-rock related category “modern alt-country.” It’s a refreshing sound, not your granddaddy’s country, and I can see myself buying Renée’s mewsic. My favorite among these songs is “Here I Am,” a recording that has HIT written all over it. My second and third faves are “Under My Skin” and “I’m Not Waiting.”

Tom, I’m delighted you enjoyed Renee’s music and her style this morning while having your coffee. I’ve been meaning to spotlight her for months, but am just now finding time to do it. Everything blogging has kinda been in turmoil for me this year. I hope I can get things back on track now that DH has a job which he’ll start within a week or two. I’m counting our blessings every day for this new opportunity. Thank you for including me in your weekend, my friend!
