Police Dog Funnies, SWF, Friendly Fill-ins, & CTST

Posted on November 18, 2016

Hello,  Kittens & dawgs! How was your week? I had an excellent one! We got some marvelous mews and I’ll share that tidbit in my CTST section but for now, let’s enjoy some laughs.

The hate fueled left group #BlackLivesMatters is one messed up, stupid organization. To show my support for the brave men and women in blue. After all, #BlueLivesMatter. In fact, all lives matter! Anywho, I want to honor police offers today. Grab a donut and be careful to not spell that hot cup of coffee while you enjoy today’s humor – Police Dog Funnies!

SWF

Today’s photo contribution I’m sharing with the SWF team of photo enthusiasts. Last month, we were fortunate to visit dear friends at their second home nestled in the western North Carolina hills before they headed south for the season. I was caught off guard when we took a side stop discovering this cute scene but luckily the iPhone5s isn’t a bad backup camera.

Let’s continue the fun with Friendly Fill-Ins with Annie and Ellen. Every Thursday four fun and easy blank statements are posted for us to borrow, complete, and share on our site. The point is to simply have fun linking, reading, and meeting others who enjoy this sort of thing.

(1) One Thanksgiving tradition I have is to watch Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. This is the funniest movie surrounding the madness of one man trying to get home to his family for the holidays who learns a lesson and picks up a new friend.

(2) Black Friday I avoid all retail shops like the black plague. I prefer to do my shopping online. It’s easier, more convenient, and less stressful.

(3) The best part about Thanksgiving Day is the meal! I love everything about our Thanksgiving dinner and I usually begin to really look forward to all the trimmings about the week before. This weekend I plan to start making dishes ahead to be ready.

(4) One Thanksgiving, weekend while traveling back home from DH’s parents our alternator went out stranding us near Bristol, Virginia. It was cold, dark, and we had three small children. Luckily, we pulled off the road near some good people who let us warm ourselves in their house and the son of the elderly couple drove DH to nearby Wal-Mart where he got a battery as a temporary fix. The man even helped him install it. We drove to a hotel to stay because we knew couldn’t make it to Knoxville and the man & his wife followed us to make sure we got there okay. That is one Thanksgiving I’ll never forget and felt like these people were earthly angels that God sent us to for help. God is SO good!

I’m joining Lexa in Celebrate The Small Things and I have two things I’m celebrating this week.

The first thing is… (drum roll please)….DH received a job offer (it has to be authorized from corporate yet)! *do happy dance*

via GIPHY

It’s an hourly position with the prospect of permanent employment at a local engineering firm.  The workload should hold for four or five months and his expected start date within a week or two. We’re very hopeful. His soon-to-be employer is larger (local office) than his previous job and possibly can move to another area within the company when work slacks off. That in itself is exciting! We thank you for your prayers and ask you to keep them going. While I may not know your specific needs, I do keep you in my prayers and trust God to care for you.

The second thing I’m celebrating is spending time with our parents. Wednesday was a very long day. We got up earlier to head to Virginia to see my folks first. Daddy and Mom showed us all the latest home improvements they’ve done. Daddy did most if not all the work. They replaced all their windows, laid new carpet (this they hired done), painted throughout the house, did a kitchen overhaul from cabinets to new appliances, and added a covered deck and sun room to the back side of the house. I was really impressed with all they did!  It was good to catch up with my folks. I miss them so much! Afterward, we drove to southern WV to visit DH’s 93-year old dad. He’s lost a lot of weight and has some medical issues but his mind is sharp as a tack. We met his full-time caregiver, Francis, for the first time. She’s a remarkable woman. My FIL showed us a toolbox he made when he was 10-years old that his brother found in the root cellar. It was about an  8″x6″x4″ wooden box with a lid that has leather hinged straps and a small bent nail (imagine an upside down horseshoe) for a latch; the bent nail went through the lid opening (created by whittling completely through the lid) and then he slipped a small twig through the loop to keep the lid shut (think about a looped handle door you put a broomstick through). There isn’t anything my FIL can’t/couldn’t do. These days his mobility is limited but he’s an amazing man! We had a great time exchanging memories but listening to his stories were the best. We got home almost 1am Thursday morning and while it was a tiring day, we had a wonderful time seeing those we love. 🙂

What are you celebrating?

See what others are celebrating this week below and if you want to join the linky, then visit Lexa!

Let’s begin celebrating with Friendship Friday and Friday Features linky parties where you’re sure to make new friends and get lots of inspiration!

That’s a wrap for now, but if you like music then I invite you to come back for Saturday Songsuasion. Until next time, have a fototastic weekend!

I wonder how much of that BlackLivesMatter group has been taken over by those not of pure intent. It seemed like it started out as simply calling attention to the fact that racism does still exist in the world and as an advocate group for those who were victims. But now it seems a bit more militant – like the perhaps the original mandate has been lost. It’s hard, since we don’t know that much about it here in Canada. Bottomline is that we all just need to be extra kind to one another during these times. 🙂
Love the police dog ones!!! Ha.
And keeping DH on the prayer list regarding the new job!!! Yeah!

Les, I’m not an insider but looking from the outside the BlackLivesMatter group appears to be a bunch of thugs. I’m sure not everyone in the organization is like that, though. Racism will always be a problem. It goes back to the beginning of time. Unfortunately, we are flawed humans and some more so than others. However, I don’t believe racism is as big a deal as it was 50 years ago, but as you said the bottom line is to be kind to all people. We’re all the same and color shouldn’t be an issue. Thank you for your prayers and for the visit, my friend!

We were just talking about wanting to see that movie! It has been years! I agree with you: Black Friday is chaos I can do without! Great story about Earth Angels. God watches over us in various ways. Enjoy that great food, my friend! Happy Thanksgiving! Annie at ~McGuffy’s Reader~

Annie, There are earthly angels all around us and we’ve been privileged to benefit from them on many occasions. It’s really humbling when someone comes to your aid. Thank you for stopping by!

Tamara, The police dog funnies were pretty good. I sorta stumbled upon one of these a few weeks ago and decided to use this as a theme. I’m so glad you enjoyed them!

How cool about the job offer! I am so happy to hear this and can’t wait to hear more about it when it comes to fruition. This is great!

I am so happy that you both got to see your folks and had such a wonderful time with them. What a blessing. 🙂

The puppy/kitty photos are great. The 5 puppies being help by the cops remind me so much of our Angel Shep’s babies. So cute and wiggly.

How wonderful that those folks helped your family out the Thanksgiving the car broke down. It is upsetting enough for them to break down in the town where you live, but so far from home is very upsetting. I agree about them being earthly angels. 🙂

Have a great weekend and a blessed Thanksgiving!

I laughed so hard at the police dog funnies! And that last one warmed my heart. Your pic is lovely, so beautiful the way the red house highlights the fall foliage, and it looks so warm and inviting. Great movie for Thanksgiving and I really miss John Candy… Like you, I hate crazy retail sales and love that Thanksgiving meal! The story of the kind couple and their son is wonderful! I’m so glad to hear there are still good Samaritans in the world. Have a lovely weekend!
