P.U.M.P.K.I.N. S.P.I.C.E

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus.

Welcome to Monday’s Music Moves Me on Sundays!  Tomorrow is the last Monday of the month.  The evening comes a little sooner now and before long it’ll arrive an hour earlier thanks to DST.  For those who suffer with seasonal moodiness, let’s ramp the endorphins by hitting dance floor.  For John’s last theme for October, he says it’s Acrostic time! Choose your songs so the first letters spell “Pumpkin spice” (or just “Pumpkin”).

Pumpkin Spice playlist tracks: 1. Paint By Numbers ~Al Stewart 2. Unafraid ~Amy Grant 3. Mad About You ~Belinda Carlisle 4. Paper Heart ~David Cook 5. Keep Singing ~Rich Astley 6. (I Like It When You) Smile ~Harry Connick Jr 7. Never ~Heart 8. Sacred Heart ~The Civil Wars 9. Put Your Lights On ~Santana ft. Everlast 10. (I Just) Died In Your Arms ~Cutting Crew 11. Call On Me ~Chicago 12. Elderberry Wine ~Elton John

This is a mewsic linky party. Every other week we have a suggested mewsic theme (see side menu) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our mewsic enthusiasts.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

That’s a wrap for now. In case you missed the news, DH and I are taking some vacation days at the end of the month through mid-November, so unless I find time to squeeze in my usual daily posts, then my next scheduled entry is TAD with Rain.  Stay tune for my latest art sketch contribution. 😉 Have a boogietastic week!  X💋X💋, Cathy

  5. Yes, winter is rapidly approaching. The mornings have been darker which makes me sleep later and the nights are coming more quickly. Seems like a metaphor for life.

  6. I had never heard the Al Stewart song that started your set nor this Belinda Carlisle song – both were so good! But the winner and new champion here is Rick Astley. Both the song and his mature voice. No words. (And it fits into a possible theme for my first November you Pick post, so I may just steal this song for that so I can hear it again!) Finally, not sure I had ever heard this Santana song – it was another nice find. (I Just) Died in Your Arms tonight is so 80’s, and I haven’t heard it in a while. Elton John and Chicago, of course, are always welcome. Thank you for the pumpkin spice treat.

  7. Hard to believe October is almost over. Not looking forward to the end of DST. I wish they would just leave it like this permanently. Love the Golden Retriever selling pumpkins! 😀 Some good songs on your playlist too. Have a good week!

  8. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Paww-some 4M Monday on Sunday, dear friend! I hope you and DH are having a nice weekend. I love how you even created a pin-up banner for this weekly feature. Awww – I wanna smooch that pooch at the pumpkin stand.

I enjoyed listening to the result of your acrostic challenge. I haven’t heard that Belinda Carlisle song since the 80s but I remember it well. The video was frequently requested and played on the MTV style station where I worked at the time. “Mad About You” was Belinda’s first solo hit after leaving her popular girl group The Go-Go’s. Wow, Cathy – this is the first time I am hearing the mature, robust song “Keep Singing” released in 2016 by Rick Astley. The powerful gospel style song is quite a departure from his light 1980s synth-pop hits. I appreciate the arrangement, the soulful backing singer and the technique used to film the video as Rick roams the stage preaching and testifying to the enthusiastic audience. Harry Connick Jr is one of Mrs. Shady’s favorite artists. She has several of his CDs. The Heart video “Never” was huge on MTV and another biggie on the station where I was working in the 80s. It’s interesting to me how part of the verses of “Never” sound a lot like “Centerfold,” the hit by J. Geils Band from four years earlier. Listen from the 29 sec mark and you should hear what I am talking about. I know that you and I both appreciate the clear, clean, soft, intimate yet compelling vocal style of Joy Williams of the Nashville-based Grammy Award winning alternative folk duo The Civil Wars. I enjoyed “Sacred Heart,” a song from the act’s 2013 self-titled album. Lately I’ve been finding on YouTube numerous covers of Cutting Crew’s “Died In Your Arms,” another 1980s classic that still seems fresh today. I always enjoy hearing Santana and Chicago.

Thanks for another batch of mewsical gems, dear friend Cathy. Enjoy your Sunday and the week ahead!
