Seriously, I had no plans to put up a mid-week post. But, yesterday when I went out to get our grocery delivery I noticed a sign of spring. It’s not uncommon for us to begin seeing the change in landscape. Normally, the first thing I spot are the tiny sprouts on trees and bushes in our back yard. The cold stretches of winter lingered longer this year than usual but we did get enough spring-like temperatures last week to begin this cycle and perhaps that’s why one lone very dormant daffodil popped up from beneath this old red clay Tennessee soil.
The thing is this, when the kids were small we planted a bunch of daffodils and tulips one year. They didn’t do well but made a show the following year and got less frequent after that until they just stopping breaking the ground. However, ever so often this happens where a single daffodil or tulip emerges one last time?! These sightings make me giddy, a promise of better days to come, and the end of winter soon to follow.

Hopefully they will keep blooming.
C’mon spring! 🌺 🌸💛 💚
Maybe some of them will keep blooming, you never know.
What are those yellow flowers that appear in my yard each (this time of year?)
Myke,
LOL, good one! I couldn’t place the song title but as soon as I heard it, I knew it straight away. 🙂
So very pretty, we’re sure ready for Spring!
I love this picture of a vibrant daffodil. I will not be seeing any flowers like this for another month if not more. Nature is resilient and stunning.
I love daffodils- ours is just barely peeking up out of the dirt! Maybe 6 weeks from now? Have a lovely day!
Hi, Cathy!
I’m back from the clinic, dear friend, and surprised to see that you offered a post this morning, Happy Wild, Wacky and Almost Wordless Wednesday to you!
Nature always finds a way. That’s how I like to think of it. Your daffodil picture is inspiring and reminds me of the flowers my dad planted on the south facing side of our house. Around early March, with snow still on the ground, daffodils and tulips started popping up to herald the coming of spring. The sight always lifted our spirits after being cooped up indoors during the winter months.
Thanks for posting the new to my ears Glen Campbell song “One Last Time.” I like it a lot and would call it one of his very best. I especially like the female backing singers. I see that “One Last Time” is a single from his 17th studio album Glen Travis Campbell released in the fall of 1972. The album made the top 5 on the Country chart, and my source indicates that “One Last Time” reached #33 on the Country Singles chart and #78 on the pop chart early in 1973. Thanks again for the introduction.
I hope your week is going well. My procedure this morning went AOK but has left me drowsy. Enjoy the rest of your day and week, dear friend Cathy!
Beautiful bloom. Ours won’t be popping out of the soil for about 6 weeks. Thanks for ghosting Wild Wednesday. XO
January was like spring here. Now it is 22 °F and will be that way all week. I do love the photo of the flower. Have a nice day.
There’s a lot of spring going on here. In fact some of the fruit trees are turning green. I’m good with that too.
Have a fabulous day and rest of the week, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥
