New Year’s Resolution Giggles

Purrs and hooowdys, Kittens & Dawgs!  This is the last Friday Sillies contribution for the year and to kick of the new year off early I’m sharing with you my thoughts on New Year’s resolutions. Enjoy!

Today, I Celebrate The Small Things.

I’m celebrating the time spent with DH over the long Christmas weekend and am looking forward to this weekend because it’s a holiday weekend, too. It won’t be as long but it’s still one more day I can spend with him. The good thing is next week will be a only a three day work week for him because Monday is a holiday and then Friday is his scheduled day off. Whoo-hoo!

I’m celebrating having gotten to visit Forest City, North Carolina last Friday. It’s a small community south east of Asheville about an hour. We read about it a few years ago as it was listed in one a travel magazine for having an amazing light display and it did not fail to disappoint, either. Check back next week for my not-so Wordless Wednesday post for a sample!

I’m celebrating the fun of sketching with my Apple Pencil & iPad. It’s a soothing hobby to create without having my table cluttered with drawing parenphenalia all the time. Not that I’m giving charocoal and paper up because I’m not. I like the feel of working with these mediums. Do you want to hear something funny? When I do smudging or blending with my electronic devices I catch myself blowing my finger off. lol

I couldn’t resist this last bit of Christmas humor. *snicker-snicker*

Switching gears, I’m rounding things out with these Friendly Fill-Ins hosted by the lovely, Annie and Ellen!

That’s a wrap for now but I hope to see you on the dance floor with New Years Themed Songs on Mondays Mewsic Moves Me!

  1. You are funny. I am so very sorry to be so late. I had an “unplanned blogging break”
    Annie at ~McGuffy’s Reader~

    1. Annie,

No aplogizes needed, dear friend. I say visit when you can and don’t worry about. Friends are welcome anytime. So, relax and have fun with your visits. Thanks for stopping by!

  2. These were fun comics. I love grumpy cat. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I think you are very artistic and practice makes perfect so keep drawing. I enjoyed all your a-z drawings last year and noticed the improvement in just a month of doing it daily. Have a wonderful weekend and Happy 2018! XO

    1. Ellen, so gald you enjoyed the comics and fill-ins responses. Thanks for the kind words about my drawings. 🙂 Enjoy the weekend and blessings to you in the coming new year!

  3. Loved the funnies! A quiet evening for New Year’s Eve sounds great. Ours won’t be that quiet with all the fireworks people set off, but that’s to be expected.

A three day work week sounds lovely, i know you and your husband are enjoying lots of good time together.

Keep drawing. You don’t have to be an expert to have fun and please yourself and your friends.

  4. You might not be Leonardo DaVinci, but then, Scott Adams (Dilbert), Stephen Pastis (Pearls Before Swine), Joe Martin (Willie ‘n’ Ethel, Mr. Boffo), Jim Davis (Garfield), and Charles Schulz (Peanuts) aren’t, either, and they still managed to make a living at it. You did great on the A to Z challenge.

I see you have a quiet evening at home planned for New Year’s Eve, too. Just about everyone I’ve talked to (blogwise) is doing the same thing. I can watch the crazies in Times Square and Underground Atlanta without having to be one of them. We’re going to have our traditional pizza rolls for dinner (how that tradition started, or when, I can’t remember) and probably fall asleep in front of the TV until the fireworks wake us up to celebrate the new year. I was telling Kat (from Mama’s Losin’ It!) that I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve been out on New Year’s Eve, and that’s over my entire life (this will be my 62nd).

(You’ll see that paragraph in tomorrow’s Stream of Consciousness post, by the way.)

Oh, and I’m borrowing that 1280×1024 cartoon. Too funny!

    Happy New Year!

    1. John,

Thank you for the encouragement where my artwork. I doubt that I can make a living doing it but I sure do have fun with it. 🙂 I hope to do sketching again this year for the A to Z challenge. I’m thinking about using primarily my Apple Pencil and iPad. We’ll see, though. I may change my mind before I commit mentally to anything.

I’m with you, I can count the number of times I went out on New Year’s Eve on one hand, too. That was only to attend a Sunday School class get together, too. We have never been partyers. What squares, right? lol But, like Huey Lewis says, “It’s hip to be square!” and I’m standing by that line. I don’t want to get tangled up in with all the crazies. It’s bad enough the other 364 days but there’s a lot more of out on Dec 31st. It’s gonna be a cold weekend, so it’ll be good to stay indoors where it’s warm anyhow.

Please feel free to borrow the comic, I did. 😉 lol Have a good weekend, my friend!

  5. I love some of these cartoons but not the closer to death..hahahaaaa. It’s true but ick:) I will be home NYE and hope my hubby doesn’t go to bed by 9 since he hates New Year’s. I plan to go back to my hypoglycaemic diet because I have gained too much and don’t like that so fingers crossed. I plan on creating more cards and can’t wait to see your creativity like you showed on the A to Z challenge

    1. Birgit,

I definitely need to get cut back on my diet come Jan. 2nd. I’ve been a naughty girl with all this holiday goodies eating. I do this every year and then struggle to beat it back off. It’s a vicious cycle. I wish I didn’t like to eat so much. 🙁 Thanks for your kindness and encouragine words regarding my art. I hope your hubs manages to see the new year in with you. 😉

  6. Hi, Cathy!

I’m getting another slow, lazy start to my day because I was up later than usual last night. I enjoyed your Friday Sillies. I was surprised to see that Chuck’s New Year’s Eve Resolutions almost match mine. The only difference is that Scarlett is #1 on my list. 🙂 I am happy to know that you and DH will get to spend some more quality time together and maybe even explore more of those beautiful little towns you like to visit. I am thankful that you prodded yourself to sketch and to display your artwork here on your blog. You do have talent and I admired the nostalgic scenes you created. Keep it up! It is funny that your Apple Pencil & iPad is so realistic that you instinctively try to blow the charcoal off your hands. It was a joy to watch another performance by Lindsey Stirling, this time with Josh G. and The Muppets. It seems like Miss Piggy was quite determined to upstage Lindsey, and it was a hoot when Lindsey and Josh got pies in their faces. I’ll tell you this. Lindsey impresses me with talents that go beyond her violin virtuosity. She is a nimble dancer. She is also a fine actress, playing off the antics of Piggy and the other Muppets. And, of course, she is beautiful. She’s the whole package – a great performance artist.

Thank you for the Friday smiles, dear friend Cathy. I wish you and DH a safe and happy weekend!

    1. Tom,

LOL, Scarlett is a pretty gal. I think she’s prettier sometimes than others, though. I’m humbled by the encouragement that you and my other friends offer with my art. This means so much to me. Thank you for your sweet comment. Lindsey Stirling is incredibly talented. I didn’t realize just how so until I watched her on DWTS. I was a fan of hers before the show but since then I’ve fallen in love with all over. She’s a fabulous violinist and you’re right she’s the total package! I’m thinking about getting some of her mewsic. I like supporting artists I really love! Have a good weekend, my friend!
