Neil Young hits the dance floor!

Welcome to Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me on Sunday!

I hope you’re enjoying your weekend and I’m glad you decided to drop by this morning but before we spin some tunes, let me pass on the results of last week BoTB  ‘Stairway to Heaven’ between Dolly Pardon and Iron Horse. It was a tight race. In the end, Dolly took the win by only a two-vote lead. Thanks for making this a great comeback Battle of the Bands and just remember I Will Always Love You!

Next showdown, set for Oct. 1st. 😉

This week’s theme is your choice song picks, so I invited a special guest.   Are you ready to hit the dance with Neil Young?  💃🕺

Please readthis is a mewsic linky party, which means all participates are sharing songs that one can listen to from YouTube or Vimeo and a not a post about mewsic or mewsicians.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

On behalf of the 4M crew, you’re invited to link up and join the dance party!

AttentionWould you like to be the 4M honorary co-host for a month? Send me an email or leave a message in comments saying ‘Count me in, I want to do it!’ and I’ll secure your spot, then zip you an email with details.

[tweetthis]Hit the #MondaysMusicMovesMe dance floor with me! @xmasdolly [/tweetthis]

Keep those tunes playing, your body swaying, and I’ll be boogieing over to see you as soon as possible.  I have an errand that needs my attention on Monday, so I’ll be offline until early evening which means I won’t get anything done until Tuesday morning.   Have a sparkletastic day!  😉

    1. Lee,

Slow mewsic is good to mellow out to especially when autumn comes around. It just seems so natural. Thanks for checking out the results of my BoTB showdown. Have a good week, my friend!

    1. Mike,

WOW, 1971 was a life-changing year for you, wasn’t it? You know how I feel about your service to this country but you’re a pretty great fellow, too. Thanks for stopping in to share a dance with me. 🙂

    1. Marie,

Yep, it’s fall time again. The seasons are booking by faster than I can keep up with but I don’t think I’m alone. Thanks for sharing a dance with me, dearie! xx

  5. Love me some Neil Young, and that’s perfect for the first day of Autumn! I can’t get the linky to accept me, but mine’s here if you want to have a look!

    1. Kim,

Thanks for joining us on the dance floor, darlin’. Sorry about the trouble. Hopefully, you got my message about the error. Have a great week!

  6. Sorry I missed the showdown. I am guessing I would have picked Dolly too. Have a great week! XO

  7. I hadn’t listened to much Neil Young in the past several years, and had forgotten how much I love him. There were two songs in your set that I wasn’t familiar with – Like a Hurricane and Don’t Let It Bring You Down. It was nice listening to this, and the old “classics” like Cinnamon Girl and My, My, Hey Hey, once again. Thank you!

    1. Alana,

Those songs were new to me, too. I’m not sure now how I came to use them in my playlist since it’s been a while that I put it together. I’m glad you enjoyed the set, though. His folksy rock vibe is a nice switch for the ear. Thanks for dancing with me, my friend!

    1. Jacqui,

I love Dolly but I often wonder if yesterday’s artists would have the same kind of success in today’s market. She’s the real deal and mega talented!

  8. Hi, Cathy!

Happy 4M Monday on Sunday, dear friend!

Thanks for reporting the result of your band battle. It makes me happy to finally be on the winning side in this close contest. I was actually expecting a blowout because Dolly’s version of “Stairway” is such a classic. Are you willing to reveal how you voted? Thanks for posting the bonus Dolly song, her original version of “I Will Always Love You,” a number one charting hit on the Country chart in 1974. Dolly re-recorded the song for the soundtrack of the 1982 movie The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and for a second time it shot to number one, Ten years later the song was covered by Whitney Houston for the movie The Bodyguard and became a chart-topping hit on the pop survey.

Singer, songwriter, actor and film director Neil Young has one of the most distinctive voices in rock. He wrote and sang songs that have stood the test of time. When Neil’s “Heart Of Gold” and “Cinnamon Girl” began, I Named Those Tunes in less than two seconds, I have seen Neil’s “Harvest Moon” mewsic video several times, the one in which he performs at a country and western style dance. “Old Man” is the only other Neil Young song I knew before today. I enjoyed the entire set and thank you for posting it.

I hope you and DH are having a fine weekend. I am still involved in hard labor day by day doing house cleanup, repair and renovation. Thanks for the mewsic and merriment and have a wonderful week, dear friend Cathy!

    1. Tom,

Great news to see you picked the winner in this showdown. Dolly was my favorite in this round but I do like Iron Horse’s cover. I did not expect this battle to be so tight. Thanks for being apart of the 4M dance party with special guest Neil Young. Every time I think of autumn, I think of Young’s song ‘Harvest Moon’. He has quite the past hits. I did a quick Wiki check to see if Young was still with us because I’m horrible about missing such mews. Come to find out that he’s still in the land of the living and that he married Daryl Hannah last year. Neil was born the same year as my mother and Daryl is a year older than me. At one time I would think a 15 year age gap was too much but I don’t think that way anymore. lol Oh well… just a little factoid to share. I’m playing catch up today, so I’d best scoot along to my next visitor, dear friend. Have a good week!
