My Favorite Things #WW

Welcome Kittens & Dawgs! I’m still MIA in Blogosphere but I thought I’d throw together a quick mid-week post just for the fun of things.  I mean, after all, it’s Christmas!

A stolen shot of Santa.  In my defense, I didn’t know until after I took this picture that I wasn’t supposed to. It’s all about the bucks and I’m not talking about the male reindeer pulling Santa’s sleight, either.
Altar’d State’s store front is absolutely gorgeous!
This is the backside of Santa’s private photo session.  It’s beautiful!  And, look there’s a Godiva nearby! Be still my beating heart.  Luckily, we took advantage of Black Friday shopping online ordering two boxes of chocolates from Godiva.  I did say it’s Christmas, right?

The Scribble Picnic art challenge this week is ‘FAVORITE THINGS‘ and I couldn’t resist keeping with the whole Christmas theme with today’s sketch.

Michael MacVean, host

Today’s post is in part sponsored by the letter ‘W‘ and the ABC Wednesday community. Christmas just really wouldn’t be Christmas without the beautiful sound of Andy Williams!

I suspect between now and until the end of the year my blogging life is going to find its way on the back burner.  No, I won’t abandon ship completely but my posts will be fewer, return visits slower, and my response time even slower. I say y’all are in the same boat so we’ll just need to cut each other a lot of slack and enjoy the season.

My linky party is open to all regardless of what kind of post you have as long as you’re a personal blogger.  All commercial websites, advertisers, or other spammy, non-fun links are subjected to immediate termination by the linky hostess!

Have a blessed and joyful Christmas holiday.  I’ll see ya around Blogosphere soon! 😉

  1. Hi Cathy :)) Your sketch is lovely, so festive!!! 🙂 Oooh Godiva chocolates, I haven’t had those in a long time but boy, do I love them!!! 🙂

  2. Very beautiful drawing and I agree with you that the Christmas season has become all about the bucks and not the spirit of things. Don’t know how my link got entered twice-sorry. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful weekend.

  3. Love your favourite things piece Cathy, great idea, all things Christmas! I linked up to your blog hop today! off to visit the others

  4. Yippee! I am so glad you stole a picture of Santa with his huge sparkly balls:) Anytime One can not pay an arm and a leg for a picture is great by me. I love your picture of the pussy cat in the box. it is well done and so sweet. Godiva chocolates are scrumptious. I do love the window displays because some go all out and showcase Christmas in a great way

  5. It’s fun to go to the mall and just watch Santa and the children. One year, i was standing there watching as one little girl went running toward him with arms outstretched, ecstatic joy on her face. He stood up and stretched his arms out to grab her up and swing her into his lap, it was beautiful.

Kitty in a gift box under the tree, that’s a lovely picture.

  6. Awww, love your sketch, Cathy. I haven’t to a mall in eons. I imagine most malls are decorated nicely this time of the year, which can put one in a festive mood.

  7. I’ve not been to a mall yet this Christmas season and probably won’t be going to one. Come to think of it, I haven’t been to a shopping mall in quite some time and going to the mall used to be one of my favorite pastimes.

  8. You mean…. you STOLE a picture of Santa Claus?! For shame! 🤣🤣

Hey, did you feel the earthquake this morning? They said it was near Decatur, Tennessee, which is not that far from you. I didn’t feel anything (probably because I was fast asleep at 4:15 this morning), but Mary said she did, and evidently it was the talk of Kroger this morning.

    1. John,

I’m despicable stealing Santa’s picture but what’s a gal to do when she has her iPhone ready for action?

We were fast asleep this morning and didn’t feel the quake but our oldest daughter who lives a couple miles from us felt it. I think the local new sources reported it being a 4.2 quake. I wish I had felt it, though.

  9. I love, love, love your drawing. That’s adorable.

I love to see all the beautiful decorations. Some folks are so very talented.

Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. Love you. ♥

  10. Very nice drawing- especially the kitty. 🙂 Beautiful decorations too. Thanks for hosting. Hope you have a great day! XO

  11. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Almost Wordless Wednesday, dear friend! I don’t think that was the real Santa there at the mall. I believe it was merely one of his “helpers.” 🙂 Mrs. Shady and I never heard of Altar’d State stores. I read that the Christian retailer originated there in Knoxville. That store front does indeed look beautiful.

Your Scribble Picnic sketch is a delight, Cathy! Kittens and young children love to play with boxes, wrapping paper, ribbons and bows and that is one happy kitty. It’s a wonderful Christmas scene and it makes me smile. What more can one ask of an artist?

I will add Andy Williams to the list I offered the other day of smooth, calm, confident male vocalists I remember from my youth. In the 50s and early 60s, before rock finally took over and became the dominant form of mewsic on the pop chart, most entertainers sang in that calm manner. Their performances were soothing to the audience. In contrast many of today’s performances are intended to stimulate or even disturb and outrage the audience.

I always return here to CAAC, even days later, to see if you replied to my comment. It gives me a sense of completion to read your response to what I wrote and you almost always do. That’s the mark of a conscientious, full service blogger and I appreciate it.

Thanks for the art and mewsic, dear friend Cathy, and enjoy the rest of your week!

    1. Tom,

I don’t do ‘wordless’ for sure. lol That’s why I renamed my weekly hop years ago to ‘not-so-wordless’. Of course, there are many so-called ‘wordless’ Wednesday fans who are love share words and that’s the way I like it! You know I think I now recall that Altar’d State started in Knoxville. That little factoid slipped my mind. Thanks for refreshing my brain cells. You’re such a delightful friend and loyal to a fault. It makes my day to see your visits and I know I haven’t done my best with keeping up while on staycation but that’ll soon change. Have a great day, my friend!
