Hello and belated happy new year wishes to you, Kittens & Dawgs! While getting into my last week’s Friday Sillies post I gathered enough good stuff for lots of giggles with More Penguin Humor!
Let’s continue the fun with Friendly Fill-Ins with Annie and Ellen. Every Thursday four fun and easy blank statements are posted for us to borrow, complete, and share on our site. The point is to simply have fun linking, reading, and meeting others who enjoy this sort of thing.
Here’s my response to this week’s fill-ins:
(1) I have seen Atlanta Rhythm Section (ARS) play in concert. When DH was in college, ARS performed at Bluefield State College and we went to see them. This was shortly after one of my favorite songs topped the charts.
(2) I would like to attend an oldie concert. Well, I sorta wanna do this but generally I don’t like exposing my ears to loud sounds. I have some hearing loss from repeated ear infections as a child and I try to safeguard from further damage now that I know better.
(3) In the dead of Winter, I prefer to stay indoors when it’s a cold, gray day and only venture out on sunny, warm days that make me all cheery. Here is a photograph from 2-years ago of a fine example of the kind of winter day I like to be outdoors. I shared this photo originally on WW.
(4) The main ringer on my cell phone is the ringtone called “Beacon” and I will tell you this if your number isn’t listed my contacts then I won’t answer the phone.
In case you missed yesterday’s news, I’m making a few temporary adjustments in the way I post. If you’re looking for my usual Skywatch Friday or Celebrate the Small Things contributions, you’ll now find I’m doing that on Thursdays. Let’s begin celebrating with Friendship Friday and Friday Features linky parties where you’re sure to make new friends and get lots of inspiration!
That’s a wrap for now, but if you like mewsic then I invite you to come back for Saturday Songsuasion. Until next time, have a laughtastic weekend!

Oh, my gosh. You are so much fun! Love the funnies here.
I don’t answer my phone if I don’t recognize the number. Too much craziness.
Get some earplugs for loud places. It works! We used them at NASCAR races. Of course, Bill was exposed to LOUD music, amps, etc. being a musician from age 8. He does still play, too. In fact, he played out with his friends on NYEve! He had not done that in years! Trucking can cramp one’s style. *wink*
Thanks for playing with us! HUGS, my dear friend. I will try to get over here more. I reloaded my info and am starting to get notices from you, again!
Annie, I know young people of yesteryear didn’t have a clue about the damages of loud music or noises on the ear but today? Boy, these kids today have their mewsic cranked so loud that by the time they are 30 they are going be like, “Say, what?” I have never been one to enjoy the radio or stereo ramped up. It actually annoys me after a few minutes. I totally do not get anyone who actually likes listening to mewsic that loud. Thanks for stopping by for a visit!
I LOVED the penguin funnies! Thanks very much for the laughs. Have a great week!
Lexa, glad you enjoyed the penguin funnies. 🙂
I love penguin humor! Thanks so much for the smiles 🙂 And have a great week!
Tonja, you’re welcome. It’s hard to not enjoy penguins or humor about these little guys. I hope you have a great week, too!
Love the penguin comics. I prefer staying inside during the winter too. Hope you have a great week!
Yvonne, it seems most are agreeing it’s best to stay indoors on winter days. 🙂 Have a good week and thank you for stopping by for a visit!
Very, so very funny! I love all of them (great cartoons)… And beautiful view of the waterfall in winter. These days, snow came finally in our area. Of course, i’m so glad about it.
Dear Cathy, many thanks for the humor, for the smiles shared (ps. my english is not native, so, I hope you’ll excuse me If I’ll have some grammar errors)! A very nice weekend and, for sure….. purrfect, too! (*-*) kisses and greetings in january!
Alexa, I’m so happy that you joined me for a few weekend giggles. There is no need to apologize your English is quite well, my friend. One to improve is doing something as simple as reading blogs and leaving comments in English, as you did here. I used to do a lot of international pen-palling years ago and found it interesting to not only read but to help those who were building their English language skills. So, please feel welcome anytime to pop over to do just that – practice your English knowledge. Have a good weekend and keep warm. We got a little snow last night and it’s quite chilly today but next week’s forecast holds the promise of milder conditions. 🙂
I never answer the phone if I don’t recognize the number. Love the penguins.
Your waterfall photo is great, Cathy, as are all the cartoons. I love penguins. An Oreo penguin sounds like something that would be very easy to love. 🙂
Thank you for being such a sweet friend, freely giving smiles to everyone. Have a blessed weekend!
Suzanne, yeah don’t get that oreo penguin to close to me. I might mistaken it for a cookie. 🙂 Have a good weekend, my friend!
haha I might make that mistake myself. 🙂 I hope that you have a great weekend, too, my friend!
It is about impossible to look at a penguin and stay angry, i wonder why. Maybe they are the most inoffensive critters on the planet?
Like you, i don’t answer my phone if i don’t have you in my contacts. If you call and i don’t answer, leave a message and i will call you back as soon as i know who you are and why you called.
Penguins seem like peaceful, gentle critters. But, that’s just my perspective on them because they are so cute. You know I don’t understand why anyone would answer the phone if they do not know the caller. If it’s someone with a legitimate need then they will leave a message requesting me to call them. Telemarketers or cons will not do that, they usually hang up or leave a crazy message that makes little sense. 🙂
I loved the penguin cartoons. My daughter use to collect penguins and my grandsons love Pengu cartoon. He is European and very funny. He doesn’t need words.
Katie, My son-in-law is a penguin fan. So, everytime I see penguins I think of him. Thanks for stopping in for a few laughs. Have a good weekend!
Where is Opus from Bloom County?
Ah, Patrick am I supposed to answer this question? You got me scratching my head on this. lol Actually I looked it up Opus the Penguin by Berkley Breathed is what you’re referring to but what I’m not sure is are you saying I used one of his cartoons or maybe I should look at his work? Maybe I need another cup of coffee to warm my brain up this afternoon. It’s been a cold, cold day! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by, my friend?
Used one of the cartoons. I think I still have my Opus shirt I had back in the day.
Oh, ok! I didn’t understand what you meant by your last comment. lol I will look at the Opus cartoons a bit more. I’m not a huge comic fan but I do enjoy reading through them for my Friday Sillies segments. 🙂
I like your waterfall picture. Have a great weekend.
Thanks, David! You have a good weekend, too!
Love the bi-polar bear. And that waterfall looks familiar. Wonder what part of the country it’s in.
Tamara, I’m not sure which waterfalls it is but it’s near Brevard North Carolina. You can see it from the road, which is very twisty and narrow. I believe this waterfalls happened to have a small pull off because I shot this photo from outside the car. Glad to see you by today. 🙂
What great penguin comics! Loved them and all your photos that celebrate snow and winter! Although I don’t like the cold, I LOVE snow. Sometimes I feel like I’m the only one but I’m okay with that too. I’m originally from Denver but now live in Indiana, so that’s why snow and I get along so well. Thanks for visiting my blog. Keep up the good work. You made me smile today!
Diane, I grew up in southern West Virginia. We always got a lot of snow when I was growing up and here in the Tennessee Valley not so much but the older I get the less tolerant I am of the cold weather and naturally I hate when snow or icy conditions make for treacherous driving. The city really isn’t equipped to handle secondary roads and whenever inclement weather hits then it makes it difficult to get in and out subdivisions. One thing we decided on if we ever move then we want to find a place where it’s easier to access the main artery and fewer hills leading to our home. lol Thanks for doing a return visit, my friend!
Great penguin comics- that is a good question as to why he can’t fly. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. That is a beautiful winter photo too. I like to go out more in the winter than the summer because there are no bugs 🙂 Have a nice weekend!
Hi, Cathy!
Your second batch of Penguin Sillies made me smile and giggle, dear friend. I also enjoyed listening to that big hit by the southern country rock band Atlanta Rhythm Section, a group of session musicians that formed an act and successfully released records of their own. Thematically, “Imaginary Lover” reminds me of the Electric Prunes hit “”I Had Too Much to Dream (Last Night).”
Waterfalls are among the most beautiful and relaxing phenomena in nature. I remember coming upon several during my exploration of the Pocono Mountains in earlier years.
Have a wonderful weekend, dear friend Cathy!
Tom, I’m not familiar with Electric Prunes or the song but after listening, here, to it I just didn’t pick up on the similarities you hear. I do like the song, though. I think that’s the first time hearing it. I love waterfalls for the same reasons beauty and peacefulness. Western North Carolina is home to many and several are quite accessible. Have a good weekend, my friend. I’ll be seeing you soon!
Hi again, Cathy!
The similarity lies not in the music style, but in the song’s theme. Both songs are about a guy dreaming or fantasizing about having intimate nocturnal encounters with a woman.
In “Imaginary Lover” the lyrics are as follows:
It’s my private pleasure
Midnight fantasy
Someone to share my
Wildest dreams with me
In “Too Much To Dream” the lyrics are as follows:
Last night your shadow fell upon my lonely room
I touched your golden hair and tasted your perfume
Your eyes were filled with love the way they used to be
Your gentle hand reached out to comfort me
Then came the dawn
And you were gone
You were gone, gone, gone
I had too much to dream last night
Do you see the similarity now? 🙂
Tom, yes! I was listening to only the mewsic. My plugged ear just got in the way. I should’ve looked the lyrics up then it would’ve clicked or maybe I needed to have another cup of coffee first. 😀 Thanks for shedding some light on this for me.
MOL..very funny. Granny says I have the same colors as the penguins, maybe I’m bicolorcat 😀 Thanks for stopping by our bloggie and leave a comment. Pawkisses for a Happy and Healthy New Year. Make it a wonderful year! 🙂 <3
LOL, maybe you are, my little furry friend!
Cute and silly penguins! I like the waterfall photo
Nancy, thank you for stopping by for a few laughs. Have a good weekend!
