More Bits and Bobs humor plus Friendly Fill-ins and CTST

Posted on September 23, 2016

Good morning, kittens and dawgs!

cathumor

Please share your funny post with me (and others) by leaving a direct link in comments. Now, I invite you to email me your giggles (funny picture, joke, video, song, …). If it makes you laugh then I want to see it! In the subject line say Friday Sillies and if I use it, then I’ll add a link back to your site.

Got laughs? Share your giggles!

Let’s continue the fun with Friendly Fill-Ins. Every Thursday Annie and Ellen post four fun and easy blank statements for us to borrow, complete, and share on our site. The point is to simply have fun linking, reading, and meeting others who enjoy this sort of thing. So, let’s get started. Here’s my response to this week’s fill-ins:

(1)  The last movie I saw at the theater was  when dinosaurs ruled the earth. Well, it might as well be. It’s been too long ago that I don’t remember. No, that’s not a name of a movie.  But, the last time we crossed the doorway of a theater was the fall of 1990 and since that time all of our movie watching we do from our living room. This is by far a better way to do it anyhow.

(2)  The title of my autobiography would be “Little Lost Girl Finds Her Self Again and Again”. What this means is I once very self-conscience with little self-esteem until my late 20s. That’s when I found myself and from that point, it’s been a rediscovery every few years of who I am.

autobiography

(3)  I would love to learn how to paint on a canvas like Bob Ross. He makes it look so easy.

(4)  I am glad that I learned how to make home-made biscuits because DH is a huge bread eater and loves, loves, loves freshly baked biscuits. I credit my belated MIL for teaching me the art of biscuit making.

You’re welcome to tag along, as I hop over to link up with the Friendly Fill-Ins crowd.

I’m joining Lexa in Celebrate The Small Things. Here’s my list of celebrations!

I’m celebrating…that’s it now officially fall. The weather still feels like summer but changes are coming and that’s exciting. We’ve had a few mornings and evenings lately where I felt just a tease of autumn in the air. It was so nice, too.

What are you celebrating?

See what others are celebrating this week below and if you want to join the linky, then visit Lexa!

To continue the Friday fun, you may want to consider joining Friendship Friday, Friday Features, and Skywatch Friday linky parties where you’re sure to make new friends and get lots of inspiration! If you’re visiting from SWF, then you’ll find my photo contribution, here.

The weekend is just starting, so I invite y’all to hop back tomorrow for some mewsic with Saturday Songsuasion!

Have a super funtastic Friday! ?

Tonja, unfortunately the photo isn’t of my biscuits but they look a lot like mine. I have photographed mine but couldn’t recall where I put the images to get quickly. I eagerly await cooler temps. In the week we’re forecast to cool down some and I can’t wait! I know everyone doesn’t share my enthusiasm & if I lived any further north then I wouldn’t either. Lol

I am not a movie theater peep. I like the comfort of home and it’s cheaper. I would read a book with that title! I get my biscuits at Bojangle’s, too lazy to make them.

Patricia, I can’t recall Bojangles biscuits. It’s been awhile since I’ve had theirs. Most fast food places make theirs either too sweet, greasy, or both to suit my taste. The best ones I’ve found come from Hardee’s.

Thanks for the funnies! The one about the phone made me laugh. Those biscuits look delicious. I love biscuits with either butter or gravy. Love the Charlie Brown photo, too. Happy Fall and Happy Weekend!

Lori, yeah that one for phone is so spot on that you just gotta smile. The things smartphones can do is unreal. I always tease DH that his camera is so cool because he can make a call with it. Lol He uses his iPhone to take all of his photos anymore. Oh I love having butter on biscuits when they first come out if the oven! That’s the best time – so fresh and hot. Yum!

I got you beat – the last time I saw a movie in the cinema, it was “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” in 1984! TV is just easier and cheaper. I loved your funnies, especially the smart phone one. It may be officially fall but it’s still hot here. I’m getting impatient! Love the Peanuts comic and waiting for the Great Pumpkin! LOL!

Lexa, WOW, you did beat me on the theatre-going! I thought for sure we were the world’s longest non-movie goers, and then you proved me wrong. lol Yeah, I’m impatient for the temperatures to change, too.

I love going to the theatre for the big action movies – like the Marvel ones or Star War/Star Trek. Sometimes those special effects just look better on the big screen. But for smaller, more intimate dramas, I wait for the video to be released. Or Netflix. Especially since for us, paying for the night out AND a sitter is just not economical very often.
I wonder where this chat around the water cooler thing began? I can honestly say I’ve never experienced that in an office setting. We always did coffee runs. Because no one – not even the boss – will say no to a coffee run. Ha.

Les, Seeing big action movies on a big screen is really cool and quite special. I definitely get that but I’m quite content with watching even high impact flicks like Marvel at home. We run the sound through our stereo system giving it an awesome quality. When things go boom, they go boom in a big way. This is something we’ve done even before surround systems got popular. lol A good sound system is one of DH’s pet hobbies. 🙂 I guess the whole water cooler gossip thing got started way before modern technology, like telephones. This sounds like something I’m going to have to research to give a full report back to everyone, huh? Thanks for popping by, and I’ll be over to see you in a few!

Back when I was in college and living by myself, I called my paternal grandma and asked her how to make biscuits. Her response was, “David, you don’t mean to tell me you don’t know how to make biscuits.” She did tell me. Her recipe was a little of this and a little of that until it gets to the consistency of biscuit dough, then you roll it out and cut it into biscuits and pop it in the oven. I experimented and came up with biscuits that I love. They have been called grease balls, but, I loves the grease.

David, getting the consistency right is the biggest, most important part of turning out good biscuits. Once I got the knack of that then it was smooth sailing! I have a simple recipe and it works beautifully every time. You can take a peek at here to see how it compares to yours. I will warn ya, mine aren’t greasy. There are some foods I prefer to not been too oily and bread is one of them. DH wouldn’t like it, either. I’m impressed that you know how to make biscuits, though. Not many men can say that. 🙂

Cute comics, especially the kitty feeding the fish 🙂 Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, I enjoyed your answers. I like your autobiography title and the cover. I prefer movies at home too, but my hubby likes to see on the big screen. I bet you could paint, have you ever gone to a paint and sip class? I don’t drink, but I enjoyed painting something and it came out pretty good. Have a great weekend!

Three Ps keep me out of a movie theater: Price, Potty, and People. The fourth P (popcorn) isn’t quite enough to overcome the first three and I love theater popcorn. 🙂 At home, I can potty when I want to, David makes great popcorn, and I can watch Netflix in my jammies. It saves money in all sorts of ways watching them at home.

I’m glad that you mastered making biscuits early own. How sweet of your MIL to teach you. I finally learned how to make biscuits, too! I mastered it just before Davey left for the Marines in 2014. He totally loves Cracker Barrel biscuits. I found a copycat recipe for their biscuits and they have been a hit. I learned early own how to make yeast rolls and loaves of bread, but I haven’t made them in forever. How do you do on gravy? I’m way behind on that one. 🙂

    Have a blessed day!

Suzanne, lol the three Ps. That’s good! Oh I use to love movie popcorn, but I’m pretty happy with how it turns out at home. We usually have it plain and that’s pretty darn good! I’m glad you got the art of biscuit down. Once my MIL stepped me through the process a few times and then I kept working at it on my own till I got the hang of it. I’m glad I stuck to it because it means even more to me now that my MIL is no longer with us. Every time I make biscuits now, I always remind DH it was his mother who taught me and it puts a smile on our faces. You asked about my gravy. DH seems to like my gravy. I keep it very simple. I try to use as little oil that I can to brown the flour in plus salt and pepper, then add milk gradually. I know gravy tastes really good when you use bacon or sausage grease but I like to keep the calories down plus I figured all that fat really isn’t good for us. lol Yeah, I sound like a party pooper, don’t I? Just keep at it, you’ll get the hang of gravy making, too. Mmm, now I want biscuits and gravy! We’re out of milk so I’m gonna have to wait. DRATS!

The cat in the last cartoon must be Sylvester:) Fall is in the air and i am happy about that as it was too hot for me this past summer. My book title would be “Who, Me?” because i would be shocked to find anyone finding my life interesting. My hubby and i actually went to the movies last Friday-it was our 10th anniversary of being together so we saw Sully. That was an excellent movie but, yes, we mostly watch films from TV or rent…yes rent:)

Birgit, I don’t know I bet your life is more interesting than yourself credit. We stream a lot of stuff from Netflix and usually we buy flicks we are interested in through iTunes. We’ve rented a few over the years but usually after we’d gotten a cool promo code which meant we actually didn’t have to pay for the rental. Shoot, we don’t buy too many movies these days unless it’s under ten bucks! Even when DH was working we watched for movie bargains. I think the most we ever spent is $19.99 for a movie. 🙂 Thanks for popping by. I’ll be by tomorrow for a visit.

Like you I haven’t been to a movie theater in many years though not as long as you. Watching a film in a theater is a nice way to see one, but I don’t like dealing with the people which is one reason why we usually opted for matinees and not seeing films on opening weekends.. Then there’s the bathroom issue. You can’t pause the film while you rush off to pee.

Years ago, before kids, we opted for the matinee times because it was a lot less expensive. We did go at nights on the weekends some, though. We may even ventured out on opening weekends too. The nasty sticky theatre floors, rude inconsiderate people, and not being able to pause the movie are reasons we don’t go these days. It’s so much easier and enjoyable to watch a feature at home!
