Money, Money, Money!

Posted on March 2, 2011

Yesterday, I had so much fun with answering Lynnette’s question about who I’m star-struck with and my guests seemed to enjoy my favorite pick, too.  It was a wonderful way to interact with my friends.  I’m looking forward to today’s responses of another of Lynnette’s Blog Party questions…. If you inherited a million dollars, what is the first thing you would do with your money?

What a coincidence, I received an email announcing I inherited a large fortune.  Strangely, I’ve gotten this email one, two, three,…I’ve lost count how many times claiming of my good fortune.  Imagine that, huh? I may be slow, but I’m not a sucker.

The chances of me actually inheriting a million dollars is, about as likely seeing a pig fly.  However, there’s an ever so slight (I mean teeny) possibility of Publishers Clearing House finding an old entry I sent in years ago and somehow it gets re-entered into the drawing with me taking the BIG prize ten million smackeroos.

IF, I…we won a $1,000,000 the very first thing I’d do is get rid of our debts and the debts of our children and our parents. I would want to do something generous for our siblings, too, but I’m not sure what at the moment. I’d want to personally help some families in need – food, clothing, shelter, get them back on their feet again sort of thing. You know, do acts of kindness anonymously. Return to God what He has given us through whatever avenue He wants us to bless by our good fortune.  We would want to buy 100 acres of wooded property where we can build a large (not enormous) home in the center. Help our children with their college expenses.  Buy a 4-wheel SUV or pickup, another mid-size car such as a Camry, and maybe an economy car.  The possibilities are endless, but I know we would reserve all action until we first seek God’s leadership.

What would you do, if you inherited or won a huge sum of money?

@Donnie, we’re on the same page with the home. What can I say, but great minds think a like.

@Amanda, I hear you saving for retirement would be excellent. We would most certainly invest some of that mill, if we were lucky enough to win big.

@Amy, if you were given a sack of loot you’d know what to do with it. God would lead you the right direction, I’m sure.

Hey, I also noticed that many people were answering all the questions. I could not think of good answers to all of them, so I skipped a bunch. What you are doing is also a good idea, just addressing one at a time.
I have no idea what I would do with that much money but there are tons of needs around me here. I would also want to buy a home too with extra space for visitors, small groups and hospitality.

Save for retirement! My husband’s retirement date is 13 years from April, so we’re in to saving what few pennies we can. A million dollars would be great in a nest egg. In 13 years it would be bigger, and a good start to retired life.

I would do just about what you did except for the home in the woods…lol…What a freedom that would be to not have my children worry about their childrens college and all.
