Monday Morning Musings #17

Posted on March 3, 2014

Last week, I was given a prompt by Les @Time Out For Mom, and while I answered it I soon discovered from her response and everyone else I didn’t really address it correctly. That being said, I am taking the liberty of doing it all over again and this time getting it right.

If you knew me, you would really know

…that I am happily married to my best-friend & high-school sweetie for soon-to-be 35 years. If you’re wondering, I was 2 and he was 4 when we tied the knot.

…that I am a mom of three grown children and as of last summer we have an empty nest.

…that I have a craving to find the property to either build or find our “dream house” on.

…that my pulse beat is music and one of my creative passions is photography/photo editing.

…that I love to make personal hand-stamped cards for special occasions.

…that I am a perpetual dieter and fitness nut minded. I have a long way to go before I can rest on this one.

…that I have one published children’s book, The Tale of Ole Green Eyes and this is what prompted me to begin blogging. Incidentally, I still have a few in my personal inventory, if you’re interested in getting an autographed copy ($5 +S/H) for someone special, then please zip me an email requesting one.

…that I love having my morning coffee while visiting my blog buddies!

Join me this morning by linking up with my NO-Rule MMM below…

News flash..I wish to begin something new to spotlight fellow bloggers. I want to feature a blogger, each week. All you need to do to be considered is to link up with Monday Morning Musings. That’s it! 😉

Now it’s time for Monday Listicles. So, grab your morning coffee and follow me. Today, Colletta submitted the prompt. She asks us to list..

10 Things you would tell your teenage self

  1. Don’t give into peer pressure
  2. Some boys lie
  3. Friends come & go
  4. Don’t wish for tomorrow to come so quickly
  5. Soak up every second of living at home
  6. You’re smarter than you give yourself credit
  7. You’re prettier than you think
  8. Hold your head up high
  9. Greet each challenge with confidence & never back down
  10. Believe in yourself and the world will, too

Each week, Heather shares FOUR QUESTIONS for anyone to borrow, answer, and post. She gives us the option to add a fifth question of our own for those who are visiting a chance to answer in comments. As well as commenting on the four questions you answered. Don’t forget to grab the MQAM badge for your blog, post, or both and be sure to link up with Acting Balanced . Now have fun!

1. National frozen food day is this week – are you a big frozen food shopper?  Do you freeze your own veggies or fruit?  I buy frozen foods, as needed. I typically purchase most veggies frozen other than salad veggies and fruit. Frozen pizza and Smart Ones entrees are amongst my frozen foods purchases, too.

2. What annoys you? Cold weather, need I say more?

3. It’s Wine and Food Festival week here in Charleston, do you have a favorite type of wine? Nope, I am don’t drink alcoholic beverages. Not that I haven’t ever, but I never developed a liking for it. I count this as a blessing.

4. What do you think is an appropriate age for a first cell phone? This depends largely on how responsible a child is. We gave our daughters pay-as-you-go phones when they were young teenagers for emergency use only. They knew that, if they wasted their minutes then they would be trouble. However, we allowed them to have a basic texting package which made owning a cell phone fun for them. After mobile phone plans became more competitive then we switched the girls over to our shared family plan, and by that time our DS turned 13 so we added him. They understood the best time to make calls and had unlimited texting. For the most part, they handled themselves well with few incidents which cost us extra money. I think parents of real young children should consider, if they can afford it, to give their child a limited service cell phone. This will give you peace of mind knowing if your child needs you then you are only a phone call away.

My question for today: What song is stuck in your head lately?

On a serious note, please let me ask that you join me in prayer for the family of GI doctor who passed away at the end of January. I just learned this news on Friday, when I was trying to schedule my annual appointment. I was terribly sad to hear this new. Dr. Lee was a quiet, gentle soul who got me through a difficult time last spring. I feel like he was truly a God send. He will be missed by many, and while I do not know where he stood spiritually I am certain by some of the things he said in conversation that he is in heaven. Please, remember the Lee family in your prayers. Thank you!

Be sure to go back tomorrow to participate in a new #giveway opportunity!

Wishing the day away was always such a problem for me! I was always trying to grow up so fast. One thing I’d tell my teen-aged self is to just slow down and enjoy being young…

4M Guidelines: Below are the 4M co-hostess. The rules are simple. Every other week, a suggested (not mandatory) theme is given to build your song picks. We're looking for embedded music to enjoy, one song or several. On the off weeks, we dance to whatever music moves you (your choice)! It's just that easy. Have fun and welcome to the party!
