Meet Me On Monday – SuperBowl to Playing an Instrument

It’s Monday, the first day of a new work week.  Why must we frown because it’s Monday?  Let’s shake the Monday blues off and have some fun with Meet Me On Monday blog hop. Yay!  Java has posted some fun question on her blog, which you’ll find below.  I will answer them first and if you want feel free to join the fun by sharing yours in my comments.

1. Did you watch the Superbowl?

The Super Bowl has become a family tradition at our house. There is no elaborate party.  We keep it quite simple among us.  Naturally, I dish up a few special things to eat,  such as my black olive cream cheese spread.  This year, we got Papa John’s pizza to munch on.  My son said, “We need to get Papa John’s pizza since its the official pizza of the NFL.”  Sounded good to us, so I ordered a large supreme with no mushrooms and a large sausage & onion pizza.  Yum! We rooted for my husband’s favorite team, Pittsburgh Steelers.  He has liked the Steelers since he was a boy.  But, we like the Green Bay Packers and would not/did not mind if they won.  The game was high energy and we stayed hopeful for the Steelers victory to the end until the Packers intercepted the ball with seconds left on the clock. Congratulations to the Packers!

2. What is the last book that you read?

A children’s book called, Ferradiddledumday, by Becky Mushko.  I am not a novel reader, although, I hope to resume reading in-depth stories soon.  I need to exercise this grey mass between ears to fight off dementia or other memory-robbing diseases of older age.

3. What is your favorite kind of cake?

The question should be what cake do you not like?  In which case, I would say none.  Pastries are my weakness. I have my husband to totally to blame for this addiction.  If it weren’t for him, then I would never know the true passion behind eating such sinful morsels of a moist dark chocolate cake topped with mounds of buttercream frosting or  the rich nutty taste of a black walnut cake  layered with cream cheese frosting or…lets just stop there before you force me to conjure up a cake for dessert tonight. Nope, nope, nope! I will be a good girl no fudging…oops I shouldn’t use such enticing words, no cheating on my healthy diet mindset.  Java you’re killing me!

4. Do you snore?

Honestly? Yes, I snore.  The good news is, I don’t believe I snore as much as I did when I was younger or….maybe, my husband just is sleeping more soundly.  But, here’s a secret between you and me (and the rest of cyberspace) my sweetie snores, too.  However, I think it’s cute.  It tells me he is resting very well and this sends a little tickle through me.

5. Do you play an instrument?
Does a piece of paper and comb count?  Or what about two spoons?  Okay all kidding aside, once upon a time I did play the flute.  I can still toot out a few notes, but that’s about it.  Sad isn’t it?  Also, I once played the piano just a wee bit. Unfortunately, I abandoned the piano to play the flute.  Now, I regret not having kept up with playing the flute or piano.  One day, I hope to pursue re-learning how to play both instruments.

  1. @Mary…you have Java to thank for that. I mean, here I’ve been trying to be a good girl and what does she go and ask? What’s my favorite cake? I’m just happy at the moment, I am not as greatly tempted to rip open a box of cake mix to make a quicky version of one of these yummy delights. I will hang tight. You can do it, Cathy, you do it!

@Kris…yeah, I was surprised to learn of others who have a tight to this cheerful sounding woodwind. I hope I can pick up again someday. =D

    Thanks for playing yesterday ladies!

  2. I have come across a lot of former fellow flute players on this hop today. I think that’s pretty cool!
