McFly

Good morning, Kittens and Dawgs,  today I’m introducing to you a new mewsic meme to replace (short-term/long-term I haven’t decided yet) my Saturday Songsuasion post with Tuesday Tunesation!  This morning’s featured artist crossed my path on the 4M dance floor when retro-mewsic maniac Steve shared the new-to-me band, English rock band, McFly!

5 Colours in Her Hair surf/pop rock sound of McFly’s début single charted #1 on the UK Singles Chart April 2004.  It’s a fun little ditty!

The next song was their second chart single in 2004.

From the Wonderland album, this single reached #1 in March 2005.

In 2007, the band released All The Greatest Hits and the first single from this album reached #3 on the UK Singles Chart.

The 5th album produced, Party Girl, release 2010 and the second single penned with Taio Cruz reached #3 on the UK Charts

McFly played four shows in America in 2012 – two in Los Angeles and two in New York. These were an all sell out events and they premiered this new song title.

Their next song came from their committed 18 date tour in 2013 to promote their Memory Lane: The Best of McFly album and this is how the next song was introduced to the public.

Did you catch my earlier post, Simple hand-drawn Valentine Cards & other V-Day Ideas? If not, I invite you to check it out. Thank you for being a part of Tuesday Tunesation and I hope you’ll join me next week.  Don’t forget to join my mid-week photo meme at midnight not-so Wordless Wednesday!

Have a tunesational day!Save

  1. Wow! Thank you for the introduction, Cathy! I’m going to have to check out more of their tunes, they’re great! 🙂 Thanks so much for the dance!

  2. Hi, Cathy!

I am here enjoying another early morning, pre-dawn concert. I wasn’t familiar with the English pop rock band McFly and I enjoyed tracing their mewsical progression through the years. The first song to which you linked, “Five Colours in Her Hair,” was a treat because it referenced the Beatles, the Beach Boys, the Brady Bunch and mewsic TV shows of the 60s such as Britain’s Ready Steady Go! It was interesting to trace the band’s evolution through the years from light pop ditties laced with humor to more a more mature style. Their 2010 single “Shine a Light” is quite a good dance number. McFly was obviously influenced by bands of the past and they themselves influenced other bands that came after them.

Thank you very much for introducing McFly, dear friend Cathy, and enjoy the rest of your week!

    1. Tom,

I’m delighted you popped in for a listen and to be the first to comment on my newest mewsic meme, Tuesday Tunesation! It just hit me I’m hearing a bit better this morning. Whoo-hoo! 🙂 “Five Colours in Her Hair” is a fun peppy tune which reminds me a lot of that late 60s Brit-vibes or perhaps the early 80s punk feel. Whichever it is it puts the groove in my move. I’m delighted you enjoyed listening to this band. It’s a joy to find new artists to showcase. Thank you for sharing mewsic discoveries with me, dear friend!
