Love Will Keep Us Together
Neil Sedaka recorded the original that he and co-lyricist Howard Greenfield penned in 1974, but it was Captain & Tennille cover that sent this song to charts worldwide in ’75.
The year Daryl and Toni rose to pop fame with this cut, DH and I were not a couple yet. That would happen a year later. I was in my first puppy-love relationship where I learned breaking up is hard to do leaving tears on my pillow many nights. What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger! That’s okay. If things didn’t go as planned, then DH and I would not be where we are today happy in love will keep us together!
What sort of vibes do you get from this song? Do you feel a certain specialness with the lyrics thinking about your own relationship?

I clicked and read about the Sweetheart bears. Oh the tears. I have a pretty white bear that my husband bought for me the first Christmas we were together. He found out I had never had a Teddy bear as a child. It is the bear I hold and cry into now, when I miss him so much. Thank you for the memories

Ahh, what an emotional comment. I’m glad you have something so special that reminds you of your dear husband. He sounds like he was a tenderhearted guy who loved you dearly. I’m sorry for your loss. My hearts aches for you regardless if it’s recent or long pass because I just can’t imagine my life without my husband. God bless you!
Of course, when the news broke of Captain & Tennille’s divorce, that song came up. Tennille…it just struck me what an odd name that was. I didn’t know it was done before by Neil Sedaka.

Yep, it’s in my head for the rest of the day now!
Please, don’t hate me!:D
Another track from my formative years!
I think most of us remember this song playing for the first time. Now, that’s when they knew a thing or two about putting together some good music!
It’s a jaunty tune that you can’t help but like at least a little bit. I don’t feel too much from it other than having heard it a lot over the years. I kind of doubt whether my wife ever heard this unless they played it a lot in Ecuador which I somewhat doubt.

Tossing It Out
Love Will Keep Us Together is very cheery, but you know what? The lyrics have a richer meaning to me as we get older. I certainly appreciated the words when I was younger, but I couldn’t fully understand them until now. You ought to ask your wife, if she remembers it. It would be fun to know, how popular the tune was in Ecuador.
hee hee … NOW you’ve gone and done it! That song will be playing in my mental sound track for the next two week!
Oopsy! Yeah, this song kinda gets stuck in my head sometimes, too. At least it’s a good one or so I think!
