Welcome Kittens & Dawgs! I sat on sharing today’s photo for more than a year trying to figure out when a good time would be and so I figured this is about as good as any.
On one of our many day trips, while passing through the small East Tennessee community of Etowah, we passed the L&M Train Depot and Railroad Museum. We didn’t take a tour. It was late in the day with rain clouds hanging dangerously low overhead. I barely had time to snap this photo before a downpour hit us!
This is a weekly hop open for photo enthusiasts, so feel free to link up below!
Just when I thought I’d resume normal blogging life I learned Joyce at From This Side of the Pond retired her mid-week feature, Hodgepodge Wednesdays. 🙁
I have other mid-week hops that I am considering including but I wonder if I can figure out which to roll into this now vacant spot. Think. Think. Think.
My schedule is in a bit of pinch today with DH’s follow-up appointment with his eye surgeon but I’m making every effort to tend to all. Have a good day and please join me for my newest edition of Friday Fun Stuff!

We don’t get too many of those kinds of donuts here in Ontario. I’m more of a Tim Horton donut eater/lover

Bev,
We don’t have Tim Hortons in Tennessee that I know of. I know there are some maybe in Ohio but definitely in Michigan. I just checked Tim Hortons website. Tennessee doesn’t have any. The closest one to us is in eastern Kentucky near the WV state line about four and a half hours away. Don’t breathe a word of this to DH. He’ll plan a day trip around that Tim Hortons. lol

I love the old railway stations because they are a blessing from the past. I wish they still existed. I always hear about Kristy Kreme donoughts but we have our Tim Horton’s which are a staple of Canada

Birgit,
KK isn’t nearly as good as they once were but their hot glazed donuts are still purrrty pAwesome! DH used to buy Tim Horton doughnuts when he worked in Michigan. He brought some home to us a time or two and I recall them being good. That’s about it. DH says they had a chocolate donut that was good. Most places that have chocolate donuts now aren’t nearly as chocolatey as I’d like. They use too light of chocolate in the batter. The only way most places can redeem themselves is by adding a dark chocolate frosting but I’d prefer they do that to the donut. 🙂

we used to have a Krispy Kreme around here!

Roger,
Sorry to hear you no longer has a Krispy Kreme near you. Hopefully, you can buy their donuts in a local grocery store. That’s always a good substitute!

Doughnuts and rainbows, love seeing the two together. 🙂

Su-sieee,
DH is the doughnut lover in this family. I just sorta go along with it. While I like them I’m not nearly as attracted to them on a regular basis like he is. Whenever we go anywhere the first thing he does is scout the area for doughnut shops. lol My weakness is ice cream. 🙂 Thanks for visiting!

That first photo is very cool. Looks like the sight of a scary movie!

Oooh, you inspired me to do some photo-play with my picture for Halloween! 😉

Oh, Krispy Kreme! How they love those at the church.
That Depot does look festive, i’m glad you shared it.

Mimi,
Krispy Kreme hot doughnuts are pAwesome! I still believe they were lots better in the 80s than they are nowadays. Somewhere along the way, they changed something and I don’t care nearly as much for them as I did. I won’t turn them down and they are far better than Dunkin’ Donuts. It seems every time a company grows too big then qualit slips and that’s what has happened with KK. 🙁

Nice rainbow shot. I am craving krispy kreme now though. I didn’t join the hop because I had a lot of words in my post today 🙂

Now I want a donut. Bugger.
Love railroad museums. They have such a long history.
I know you’re busy, but you’ll get through all this. Know my thoughts are with you.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday, my friend. Big hugs. ❤

Sandee,
That’s bound to happen anytime you see food. I know every time I visit on Tuesdays at your place when you have taste-tempting recipes I’m always wanting whatever you’re sharing. 🙂

Etowah must be a Cherokee name. There’s an Etowah in Georgia, too.
Loading...
John,
I don’t know about Cherokee but there is or was a group of Indians called Etowah and according to Wikipedia there’s an Etowah burial mound in northern Georgia. The piece indicated that these Indians resided in Mississippi but like many people, it sounds like they made their way east at some point.

It looks like the Etowah may have been here first, then the Cherokee moved in. Worth looking into.

Hmmm, that’s interesting and yes definitely worth a little research time.

Having finished a train trip from Chicago to Southern California, seeing dozens of train stations, I can confidently say few look like this one. Very nice.

Jacqui,
I think it would be neat to ride a train, maybe even sleep in one, if I wouldn’t feel claustrophobic. That’s one thing that stops me and another is, it’s like an airplane, you susceptible to catching anything that another passes on. The headline mews is filled with this sort of stuff frequently it seems. Yes, I’m paranoid but at least I’m healthy. 🙂

Very nice pic. That train museum looks like a great place to go. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.

Patrick,
It’s a fabulous looking building on the outside. I hope we can return someday to visit it. I love historical sights!

Hi, Cathy!
Happy A B C Wednesday to you, dear friend! You and I were already friends and followers when you first posted that picture of a Krispy Kreme sign with a rainbow in the sky over Knoxville. One of their doughnuts would hit the spot right now as I drink my morning coffee. That sign reminds me of two more letters – LG – because, during the summer of 1968, I worked at the LG Potato Chip factory in York. Imagine what it was like to see varieties of potato chips, cheese corn, cheese twists and other salty snacks passing by in front of you on a conveyor belt, fresh, hot from the oven and tantalizing. Best of all we were allowed to eat as many as we wanted while we worked! If I were participating in today’s Wednesday A B C, my letter “K” subject would be Korvettes – the E. J. Korvette discount department store where I bought my first three records in the spring of 1964 – one by the Beatles, one by the Dave Clark Five and one by the Beach Boys.
You took a great pic of the the L&M Train Depot and Railroad Museum before the cloudburst that day. Thanks for sharing! I hope DH’s eye check-up goes well today and I wish you a safe and happy day, dear friend Cathy!

Tom,
I bet you could bring a lot to the ABC Wednesday fun. I love the idea of putting together posts based on the weekly alpha-prompt. This was something I thoroughly enjoyed in my early years in Blogosphere but after 2013 when I fell ill, I was slow to return and then the hop was about at its end anyhow. It’s going to difficult to keep rolling this new meme out until it becomes second nature. I hope I can stick with it. Yes, we were friends when I shared the photo of Krispy Kreme in Asheville, North Carolina. We were on our way to the Blue Ridge Parkway that day. It’s not often I can catch a rainbow after the rain, so this was a great discovery!
