Let China song titles put the groove in you #variousartists

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus.

I can’t believe this is the last Monday in June. A few months back one of our honorary co-hostess made a suggestion for a theme but then changed it when the Coronavirus took the world hostage but I kept my playlist. China as a country isn’t bad.  The people aren’t bad. The government is another story.  But what’s really good is there are a lot of songs with ‘China’ in the title. This week’s Monday’s Mewsic Moves me theme is your choice song pick but I betcha can guess what we’ll be dancing to this morning.

Playlist includes:

  1. The Great Wall  of China ~ Billy Joel
  2. Beijing, Beijing  ~Feng Wang
  3. Kung Fu Fighting  ~Carl Douglas
  4. The Evening Primrose (Ye Lai Xiang) ~ Teresa Teng
  5. Kung Fu Piano: Cello Ascends ~The Piano Guys
  6. On A Slow Boat To China ~Bette Midler & Barry Manilow
  7. China Roses ~Enya

DISCLOSURE…this is a mewsic linky party, which means all participates are sharing songs that one can listen to from YouTube or Vimeo and a not a post about mewsic or mewsicians.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

[tweetthis]Hit the #MondaysMusicMovesMe dance floor with me! @xmasdolly [/tweetthis]

In closing let me say a special thank you to Musing & Merriment with Michele for a fabulous job as this month’s honorary co-hostess – way to go! Remember, girl  you’re always welcome to do this again! 😉  That’s a wrap for now.  Have a boogietastic week! X💋X💋, Cathy

[Wild Wednesdays] Peace in the Valley is what I call this photo reinvented using Brushstrokes to give my image that paint-like feel. I snapped this picture at the Smoky’s Cades Cove community in August 2012 and shared another image closely resembling this one, here.

  1. Great inspiring quote, great songs, and I agree with you (and John) that China isn’t the problem, the Chinese Communist Party is. Thanks for the fabulous dance! Hope you had a Happy 4th, and are having a great weekend!

  2. This was nicely done. Where do I start? Enya’s song was so haunting. The Piano Guys, as always (I’ve seen several of their videos but not this one) were fantastic. Bette Midler covering Rosemary Clooney (one of my late Mom’s favorite singers) makes me wish I could get on a slow boat. Teresa Teng is new to me and already sorry to find out she has passed on. Pandas – I used to collect them when my son was a baby – not the actual pandas, mind you, but I have a panda picture made of wood hanging in what used to be his room.

  3. FABULOUS CAT!!! KUNG FU FIGHTING, WOW! I haven’t heard that in like forever! I use to dance to that tune. I was taking Karate then too! My friend and I use to do some pretty mean kicks too! What fun! I never thought I’d see the day Barry Manilow & Bette Midler??? bwahahahaha Good one! China Roses sounds like that song they played when 9-11 happened. So sad! David Bowie… love it! I never noticed before he has two different eyeballs. One’s bigger than the other. Weird! GREAT FANTASTIC JOB MY FRIEND!!! HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!!! It totally creeped up on me! Sheesh! Be safe my friend… .HUGS!

    1. Marie,

Thanks for joining my party, girlfriend! You got me to wondering about David Bowie’s eyes with your comment, so I checked some Google images. I think one eye appears larger than the other because of the angle of the shot. When he’s photographed straight on, his eyes look normal to me. That being said, there could be size difference. I think everything about is like that. You know, we all have one leg or arm or hand that’s slightly bigger than the other and I’d say that’s true of eyes, ears, fingers, and toes. That’s what makes us so unique. I’m happy you stopped by to dance with me, darlin’!

  4. I seem to have missed the China bit. I never get the theme right….I would have gone with China Girl (David Bowie) but now I’m wondering if it’s a little inapporpriate actually, now that i think about it, Might need to check the lyrics. I went to China last year – the people are so friendly and fun. It really took me by surprise. We had a blast.

    1. Lydia,

There was no theme this week, darlin’! I just ran with this theme as I had it in drafts for a few months after an honorary co-hostess decided against using it. Why waste good work, right? Asian people seem very nice as do many people from foreign lands. I hate that Chinese folks are treated unfairly because of everything that’s transpired in recent months. The real problem is China’s government, especially Northern China who doesn’t care beans for its own people much less outsiders. I’m glad y’all had a good time visiting such an exotic faraway land. The closest I’ll ever get to China is when I eat at our local Chinese restaurant or the next time I buy a t-shirt. lol Thanks for boogieing with me today!

    1. John,

Nothing good ever comes from communism. It blows my mind how dunderheads in this country think that’s what they want. They have no idea what they are asking. roll eyes Thanks for stopping by!

  5. Awww, love the pandas. So adorable.

Love your play list and yes the people of China aren’t the problem, it’s the government that’s the problem.

Love the photograph edit. It’s beautiful. Didn’t know you could do that until today.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week, Cathy. Big hug. ♥

    1. Sandee,

Photo-editing is really cool these days. Brushstrokes is an app on my iPad. I’m not sure if there’s a Windows version but I’m sure there are similar programs for devices that use that OS. Thank for joining me on the dance floor, my dear.

      1. I love that app. I don’t know if they have it for windows either, but I’m going to find out. 🙂

        1. Sandee,

Brushstrokes isn’t on my computer. As far as I know it’s only an app for iOS mobile devices so I don’t know if there’s an Android version or not. Best of luck to ya!

  6. Well said, CK! The mewsic is just wonderful…hoh…ha…Kung fu fighting…we haven’t heard that song in ages…hoh ha.. Granny wishes she could walk the wall of China for once in her lifetime, even if it’s just a little piece of it, if not we’re just listening to this great song of Billy Joel. Loved the playlist and that Kung Fu piano is very interesting mewsic. We liked it! Great quote too and that painting is just fabulous😎Pawkisses for a wonderful week ahead🐾😽💞

    1. Binky,

The Great Wall of China is amazing wonder but I have never had a desire to visit that part of the world. I wouldn’t mind having The Great Wall of Chocolate from PF Chang’s about now, though. lol Now, that’s some kind of good stuff! I hope Granny gets her wish, though. Thanks for boogieing with me, little furriend.

  7. Like Thomas, I found the haunting melody of the Feng Wang song most interesting. The video is beautifully crafted and wonderfully illustrates the story in the music. Thank you for sharing this with us today. Have a blessed week.

    1. Driller,

I can’t imagine living in a communist country. The upheaval in our streets are fueled by socialists bent on destroying this great land and these dunderheads are either clueless or just don’t care because someone put a few bucks in their hands. When it’s too late then they’ll know how tragic their actions were for themselves and America. Thanks for hitting the dance floor, my friend!

    1. Brian,

Yeah about half of these songss the lyrics are written and recorded by Americans. I’m not sure if the two Asian artists are actually from China. Speaking of China, my uncle brought my grandma a mewsic box from Korea or Vietnam when he was serving. I was fascinated with that it. The mewsic was like nothing I had heard at the time so it really captivated my ear. 🙂

  8. …Cathy, I never clued into the theme of the weekly MusicMovesMe. I just come up with a playlist that I enjoy and hope that others will to, here’s hoping that is OK! Thanks for your warm welcomes and I’ll be back next week doing my own thing!

    1. Tom,

We aren’t snobs when it comes to mewsic on the dance floor. You’re welcome to keep spinning and sharing tunes that move you but if you’re ever in need of ideas then you will find that I keep the current month themes posted in my side menu. I’ll be looking forward to you being at the party next week, my friend. Have a boogietastic day!

  9. Hi, Cathy!

It’s great to see you, dear friend! Happy Awwwsome 4M Monday to you! I’d love to tickle that chubby panda’s belly. It must be quite an experience to be near one of those living, breathing “plush stuffed animals.”

Your set of China songs is excellent. Most are new to me. I was particularly taken by Feng Wang and his sad song about the place he calls home, “Beijing, Beijing.” If you read the English translation you realize it is a song that describes bleak lives in many cities around the world. The Carl Douglas novelty hit “Kung Fu Fighting” is the most familiar China song to me, but I also remember “Slow Boat To China.” Bette Midler is currently appearing in an acting role on one of my favorite new TV series The Politician. The lady who sang “The Evening Primrose” wooed me with her soft and lovely voice. I also enjoyed The Piano Guys and their invigorating instrumental on piano and cello.

I would like to add the David Bowie’s 1983 hit single “China Doll” which was played often on the MTV station where I worked at the time:

My goodness, dear friend. No one would ever guess that Peace in the Valley was anything other than an oil painting rendered by an accomplished artist. The way you transformed that picture of grazing horses taken at Cades Cove is amazing.

Thank you for the inspiring quote at the end of your post. It’s important to remember that when you think you are left with nothing, you always have something, many things, in fact, with which to rebuild your life.

Have a safe and happy week, dear friend Cathy!

    1. Tom,

Panada bears are cute and cuddly in appearance but I’d be afraid to try to hug one. 🙂 Our son was given a stuffed toy Panada bear when he was born that we called ‘P-Bear’ by his uncle & auntie. I still have his little companion tucked away in one of the closets. Maybe someday, he’ll give it to his little boy or girl. 🙂

“Kung Fu Fighting” is a fun oldie. You can help yourself but sing along when it plays. Yelai Xiang Teresa Teng “The Evening Primrose” captivated my attention instantly. Pop artist Teresa covered [sample original link—> Yoshiko Yamaguchi’s 1944 song near the end of the 70s. I prefer her version over the original. I’d like to find an English translation of the lyrics. I like everything by the Piano Guys. They are excellent mewsicians and everything they purform is spectacular fun to listen to! I wanted to use “China Doll” for my playlist originally but at the time I was certain it would’ve been picked by everyone else, so I passed on it but I’m happy that you offer the suggestion and link to the song for my readers.

I’m glad you liked my ‘Peace In The Valley’ fauk oil painting. Brushstrokes does an amazing job transforming an image into something amazing. I’d love to learn how to paint. Maybe one day, I’ll dab in that artist expression. Thanks for joining me on the dance floor this week, dear friend!
