Good morning, kittens and dawgs! Earlier in the August, I shared an older photo I took of King Kong with my little point n’ shoot, here. On the night we were in the mountains to watch the Perseids meteor showers when the weather just wasn’t gonna have as to do much in the way of star-gazing I finally got a chance to take a night picture of King Kong.
And, while we couldn’t see shooting stars overhead the moon played peek-a-boo with us and I was able to catch it when it came out from behind the clouds for this shot.
I’m making headway on repairing broken links and videos, but it’s not getting done fast enough to suit me. Next week, I’m thinking about stepping away for just a bit to try to get this job done. Today’s photo contribution for (not-so) Wordless Wednesday I plan to share with photo enthusiasts from around the globe participating in Skywatch Friday.
Next up, Friday Sillies and more Friday fun stuff!

I love the lighting on the Kong shot, it looks really eerie.
Wayne, thank you. This is the Hollywood Wax Museum in Pigeon Forge Tennessee. Just belong Kong there are several spotlights, which cast the perfect light on Kong against the night sky. I liked how it turned out. I appreciate your visit today and I hope you’ll come back again!
Interesting blog you got here, will be returning … Love, cat.
Thanks for the visit, Cat. I shall look forward to you stopping in again anytime. Now, off to see you! 😉
That’s an impressive looking King Kong. I wonder where they got it from. I want one on my building too.
I love your pics. Your Kong shot is so cool.
Patrick, King Kong is totally cool! I just love the looks of the Hollywood wax museum exterior. I’ve not been in it and I guess it’s kinda neat but attractions like this are so expensive. Maybe one day, we’ll go though.
Wow that is an awesome Kong shot!! What is that?? Very cool. Good moon capture too. I still have trouble getting moon shots. I don’t think my zoom lens is powerful enough to get any great detail. I love the little bit of spooky tone here — gets me in the mood for Halloween!
Les, I had my telephoto zoomed in all the way to 300mm. I’d love to have a 600mm but then I’d have to have a tripod. Photography is an expensive hobby. Perhaps after DH gets a job I can think about getting a more powerful lens. Hey, a girl can daydream, right? 🙂
I have the tripod but my zoom only goes to 255. And yeah, I like to go on Amazon sometimes and dream about those thousand dollar lenses!! Ha. Not in this lifetime likely.
Les, I haven’t looked at the prices of the longer telephoto lenses but I know they’ll be expensive. If I were super serious about it then I’d like to get one but I’m content with what I have and can make due for now. 🙂
Cool shot of the moon. King Kong is a great picture, too.
David, So glad you liked the shots! I would love to get a large telephoto lens but then I’d have to have a tripod to handle the night shots. Sometimes it’s difficult to get good night pictures with the 300mm when I’m shivering. lol
I think that your photos are great, especially that shot of the moon!
Have a blessed day. 🙂
Suzanne, Thanks! I could’ve sworn I got one picture with the moon coming out from behind the clouds but I didn’t. The cloud was silvery white around the edges and it was really gorgeous. That bothers me because I can’t remember why I didn’t take that picture.
Hi, Cathy!
Golly, a Kong sighting is a bigger thrill than a meteor shower any day of the week! 🙂 Your picture has just enough light to make it scary, ideal for the start of Halloween season. That’s a great shot of the moon seemingly all alone in the sky.
I am dedicating tomorrow’s SDMM post to you, dear friend Cathy. See you then!
Tom, well King Kong and the peak-a-boo moon made the evening extra fun. I really wanted to see some action in the night sky. Hopefully, next year will be better or in early to mid-December with the Geminids Meteor Shower. The downside is it’ll be a lot colder, especially in the upper elevations of the mountains. Sounds like a good time to take a thermos of hot chocolate with us. 🙂 I’ll be by tomorrow to see what you have up your sleeve.
Ah good ole Kong…..poor ape never had a chance.
Birgit, nope he never did have a chance! Poor hairy beast!
