This is a music linky party.  Your co-hostess are StacyAlana, and Me.   Every other week we have a suggested music theme (see weekly prompts here) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our music enthusiasts.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

Last week I noticed Marie’s blog address no longer works.  I hope that’s only temporary.  We miss you and hope to see you back on the dance floor when you’re better again. Also, my calendar reminded me that our girl Marie’s birthday is tomorrow.  I don’t know if her computer woes are fixed but you’re welcome to send her birthday wishes in comments.  This is CAAC signing off,  have a boogietastic week!

  1. Soothing music and adorable two beings cuddled up in a warm embrace.

Wishing our lovely, enthusisatic girl Marie and delicious, healthy, peaceful birthday and many more to come.

Have a lovely week my dear dear Cathy.
    Big hugs <3

  2. Happy Birthday to Marie. I wish her well on her journey to good health.
Thise little critters are ao adorable, I just want to cuddle them.
Interesting to choose June, my birth month. I think of June Cleaver from Leave It To Beaver and the actress, June Haver. She almost became a nun before meeting and marrying Fred McMurray. I enjoyed the music but not a lover of the one June Carter Cash sang. The last 3 were good bit I didn’t expect such a pretty gal singing country

    1. Birgit,

You’re a June baby? What day? I probably had it at one time. I did a double check on my calendar but didn’t see you listed. I need to fix that, so tell me your birthdate!! I can’t say that I’m a huge fan of June Carter Cash as a solo artist. She and Johnny duets were nice but still the old country style isn’t my forte. I much prefer the newer country vibe that’s current. There are some really pretty gals who sing country. Shania Twain is the first pretty lady that comes to mind when I think of country.

      1. My birthday is June 2nd. Yes, Shania is really pretty and sexy. I like Gretchen..um…I can’t think of her last name but she is good too. I’m with you about country

    1. How pawsome you stopped by for some four-footed action with the 4M crew. Feel free to wag your tail on the dance floor anytime, furriend!

  3. Very nice. And Happy Blessed Birthday to Marie. You did great on this theme. I went into a totally different direction. Please forgive me. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.

    1. Patrick,

Nothing wrong with going a different direction with the theme. In fact, I love it when someone goes against the grain making it work the way they want. So kudos to you!

    1. John,

I didn’t understand until I got over to your place why you gave me bonus points. 🙂 Thanks for swinging by, my friend.

  4. Interesting set. I only knew the Pointer Sister songs, but I also enjoyed the vibe of the first two songs, especially “Something Cool”. That was a nice 50;s song and I read that her husband played sax on the album that came from. I’ll wish Marie a happy birthday on my blog tomorrow, and I hope she has a wonderful, “Happy Birthday” to make her day special. Alana ramblinwitham

    1. Alana,

Thanks for joining me, my friend. Yeah, I hope Marie had a lovely birthday, too. If I ever get a free couple of minutes then I need to call her to see how she’s doing. Have a boogietastic week, dearie!

  5. Happy Sunday, Cathy! 🙂 It’s a rainy weekend here, but at least it’s mild. I enjoyed your playlist – a mixture of smooth jazz, funk and country. Thanks for adding music to an otherwise dreary day. Have a great week! P.S. I love the Aww Monday image! Warm and cozy. 😀

    1. Debbie,

I’m happy you found time to visit and take in some music. Listening to tunes on a dreary day is a good way to spend it. 🙂

  6. First, Marie’s blog opens up just fine for me. Everything looks as it should. I have no idea why you can’t open it. https://newxmasdolly.blogspot.com/

Awww on the cutie pies. So precious.

Love your playlist. I didn’t build a playlist, but I have a video about June.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hog.

Thank you for co-hosting the Monday’s Music Moves Me.

I’m off to ponder why you can’t open Marie’s blog, but I can. Love and hugs for a happy week. ♥

    1. Sandee,

The other day, her site said “This site has been removed”. That’s all I can tell you. I attempted a couple of different times on different days with the same results. Who knows what happened but today it’s working for me. YAY! Thanks for the heads up, my dear!

      1. PS: I think I know what I was doing wrong with Marie’s website. I didn’t type the address correctly leaving out “new” in her url. roll eyes Goofy me, right?

  7. I hope your weekend is going well. We are still in the bowls of constant rain. I know there are places that would love some of this rain, but it is getting to be depressing with no sun and my garden is not thriving with it all. That’s my complaint for the day. LOL I am off to listen to your music. Have a great day.

    1. Nicole,

This time of the year, we usually get the heat followed with thunderstorms. I expect the stormy weather to move in at some point this week. I think we’ll all be complaining about the weather pretty regularly now that it’s summer. If it’s not the heat, then it’s the rain that won’t go away. I will do my best to live in the moment since the seasons change so blindly fast. Tomorrow, it’ll be Christmas or so it’ll seem. 😉

  8. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Paw-some 4-M Monday on Sunday, dear friend! I hope you and DH had a super week and a cheery anniversary celebration.

Awww… I just wanna smooch those furry little critters, but I’m afraid they’d scratch and bite if I disturbed their slumber.

I enjoyed your set of June artists and songs. I was not familiar with June Christy and needed to look her up. Her song “Something Cool” is an example of the “cool jazz” style for which she is remembered. The Illinois singer was noted for “silky smooth vocals.” Wiki goes on to state the following about June: After her death, she was hailed as “one of the finest and most neglected singers of her time.” Sadly June died young at the age of 64.

Your second June, big band vocalist June Hutton, is also new to me. I read that she was also an illinois native and that her second husband was Ken Tobey, the actor who starred in one of my favorite sci-fi horror movies The Thing from Another World (1951). Sadly, June Hutton died even younger than June Christy. She was only 53.

“He’s So Shy” by the Pointers was a biggie during the clubbing years of my second bachelorhood. Wiki describes the song as the “fusion of classic girl group pop, new wave-styled dance music and R&B.” Released in 1980, it was the sister act’s comeback single following a couple of lean years. When I was working in production at my MTV station, I used the Pointers’ “I’m So Excited” song as the sound bed for a music video I produced to promote our local contestants competing in the Miss America Pageant.

English folk singer June Tabor is the third new-to-me June artist in your block. I enjoyed “All This Useless Beauty,” a song from her 1992 Folk, World & Country music album Angel Tiger. It was also nice of you to remember country artist June Carter. She is another one who died too young at age 73. I read that her husband, Johnny Cash, stated after her death that his only reason for going on living was his mewsic. SadLy, according to Wiki: “Johnny Cash died four months after Carter’s death, and Carter’s daughter, Rosie Nix Adams, a month after that.” That outcome offers proof that profound grief over the loss of a loved one can being your own life to an end, although Rosie’s death was ruled accidental and attributed to carbon monoxide poisoning.

Yet another act that’s new to me this morning is Runaway June, the Nashville-based, all-female country mewsic trio nominated for Vocal Group of the Year at the 2018 CMA’s. This song, “Wild West,” ran the Country chart in 2017. I like the song and their vocal style. The group harmony is pleasing to my ears. Moreover, the ladies clean-up good and look neat in their Western wear. I also enjoyed “Got Me Where I Want You,” a song from Runaway June’s 2019 debut album Blue Roses which reached #2 on the Heatseekers chart. I predict these women will release a crossover hit in the near future and be on their way to stardom.

Memphis singer/songwriter Valerie June is also an introduction. I love her distinctive voice. I see that she records in a variety of styles including Americana, alternative, roots rock, folk, blues, soul, bluegrass and dream pop.

Yessum, happy birthday to friend Marie and hope that she is well and will soon be back in action on the blog circuit.

Thank you for the morning mewisal entertainment, dear friend Cathy. I learned many new artists and songs this morning. Have a wonderful week!

    1. Tom,

You found some interesting factoids on my featured artists. June Christy is a new discovery for me. I did a little reading on her and honestly I meant to include some tidbits on June picks but I failed to do that. roll eyes Anywho, you always bring forth stuff from your Internet digging. I don’t know if I knew or just forgot that Johnny Cash and June Carter passed within months of each other. How tragic June’s daughter died closed to her mother’s death. That calls to mind the sad story of Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds dying a few years ago. Back to Johnny and June, I just always thought of them as being together and somehow I missed the factoid I stumbled on this morning that they had an affair before. I never thought of country artists as the ones with addiction problems but the article I read mentioned that was one of Johnny’s demons. I guess it’s the entertainers lifestyle that snares these individuals before they realize the problem is out of hand. I really loved finding Runaway June. Overall, I’m quite happy with all of my musician in this week’s selection and I’m equally delighted you enjoyed my discoveries. Thanks for joining me on the dance floor, good friend. Have a boogietastic week!
