Good Monday morning! This is a busy day for me at Curious as a Cathy. Earlier this morning, I hit the dance floor with the Monday’s Music Moves Me crew and if you’re looking to boogie with me, then click here, but don’t rush off before checking out my newest Looney Tunes A-Z Art Sketch!
The letter J is the first without a Looney Tune character to match up but it wasn’t too hard to get inventive using ‘joke’ + ‘Looney Tunes’ at DuckGo. I found an image that inspired me to sketch Foghorn Leghorn mouthing his famous catchphrase, “Boy…I say boy…” which I knew I had to draw.
Now for some laughs with these “That’s a joke boy/son” moments found in these two funny clips.
While hunting around on YouTube for “That’s a joke, son/boy” clips I stumbled across the full-feature comedy movie , It’s A Joke Son (1947), with the character Senator Claghorn whom the creator of Foghorn found inspiration if you recall with my Foghorn Leghorn illustration post.
Thanks for allowing me to be a part of your day. Please leave a direct link for today’s post in comments to ensure others can find an easy way back to you or at the very least make sure your Gravatar profile is updated with your active blog address. I’m heading over to the A2Z headquarters to see who’s joined the party now. I hope to see you again tomorrow for the next letter in the alphabet in my Looney Tunes Art Sketch series! X💋X💋 Cathy

Nice one for J
So glad you used Foghorn who would say this in almost every cartoon he was in and boy did he deserve that wallop. I think we can all say we have met some foghorn Leghorns in our past. I love your drawing and that joke is hilarious. Rodney Dangerfield would be proud.
Excellent sketching, Cathy, and thanks for the smiles! 💖
An excellent idea for a letter that doesn’t have a character assigned to it.
Love those! They don’t make cartoon characters like they use to.
Girl, you have so much on your plate. No one ever contacted me about the A to Z fun! 🙁 Especially since I’m back I’d really like to & catch up with everyone. Right now I’m on hold I guess! Anyway, did you see my post & can you help me in posting it? So frustrating. THANKS!
Marie,
No one contacts me about the A2Z challenge, either. I just know it takes place every April and keep my eye on their site for updates. Maybe next year you can join the fun!
More Foghorn! More Foghorn. Oh how I love him, and I never knew the character originated on the Fred Allen radio show. Before my time. Or that there was a full length movie with the beloved June Lockhart of Lassie (so popular when I was growing up).
More of Foghorn Leghorn… that’s a bonus! “Yer built too low… the fast ones go over yer head.” Thanks for the laugh!!
So many jokes and I love when Foghorn gets on a roll – you can always see whichever character he’s talking to slowly getting more and more frustrated. Great post.
For some reason, I always think of Forrest Tucker when I hear Foghorn…
I’m glad you chose Pete Puma to join him in your drawing. Nicely done and I love both of the characters.
My “J” song:

Hee hee…I love that. Another one of my favourites from Foghorn Leghorn is “Boy, I keep pitchin’ ’em and you keep missin’ ’em”…Thomas is right about Senator Claghorn from the Fred Allen radio show. I learned about that from listening to the Jack Benny radio show – my favourite. Those to has a rivalry. I think Mel Blanc was the only one who coyly admitted that Foghorn Leghorn’s voice/persona was based on the Senator!
Thanks for the smiles.
That was cute. Good job. 🙂 XO
Joke is the perfect J, after all, that’s what Looney Toons was all about!
Hi Cathy,
LOL, I love the sketch! In my head, I thought there was a Looney Tunes character named Jasper, but nope, I was wrong! The only Jasper Google found was the one made by Paramount Pics where Bugs made his debut cameo appearance.
You know how I love your sketches and jokes. Well done.
Have a fabulous day and week. Big hug. ♥
Good morning Cathy, I have say this was the perfect JOKE for a Monday. Mondays always come too soon, and I can relate to Foghorn Leghorn and his famous catchphrase, “Boy…I say boy…” I hope you have a great day and can’t wait to see what you have planned for the week ahead. I’ll be reflecting while I’m journaling
Cheers,
Crackerberries
Hi, again, Cathy!
Happy J-day to you, dear friend!
I’m pleased to see that you found an inventive way to use the letter “J” even though you couldn’t find a corresponding Looney Tunes character. “J” is for joke, son, and that old blabbermouth Foghorn is becoming the star of this year’s A to Z series. 🙂 It was fun to watch the rambunctious rooster in that clip verbally bombarding Sylvester until the cat couldn’t take any more and bonked him over the head with a big stick. I love your sketch showing Foghorn doing what he does best – crowing. I hope you bring it back In Living Color someday.
I never knew they made a feature length movie based on the Senator Claghorn character. I never heard of Kenny Delmar who starred as the windbag Senator in the 1947 picture, but I have heard of co-star Una Merkel and, of course, actress June Lockhart became famous for her roles in the TV series Lassie and Lost in Space.
Thanks for the smiles this morning, dear friend Cathy. Have a safe and happy week!
