It’s Someone’s Birthday!

The coffee is brewing. Quick blow out the candles and make a wish, Patrice! What didn’t you know it’s Patrice’s birthday? You’re invited to join us for a little chit chat on her farmhouse porch! Whatcha waiting on?

Here’s what we’re talking about today…

1. Would you prefer to watch a movie in a theater or at home?

Definitely, have a movie night in my living room! Going to the theater had its place at one time, but now with media streaming and renting or purchasing movies then why pay out of the nose to see the latest flick? I don’t know how a family of four can have a night out at the movies. Even, if you bought a movie for $20 then this is still less expensive than going to the theater, plus the movie is yours for keeps.

2. Do you have a specific way of managing change(coins)? This could be a bank, a large piece of pottery, or an old bottle. Perhaps you roll it right away for the bank, give it to your kids, or spend it instead of letting it accumulate.

I rarely have any significant amount of coins because I always use plastic to make any purchases. It’s so much more convenient than having to worry about managing any type of currency, then paying our CC company is a snap online. However, there are times when I stumble on some loose change in the wash or find it on the floor, between sofa cushions, … and that’s when I put it in a container on top of my microwave. I may have a couple of dollars in change stored away. You can’t even buy lunch with it. lol

3. How often do you have to vacuum?

Not often enough. I procrastinate on this chore because our carpet is in serious need of being replaced. This job should be done about once a week, if not sooner. When our kiddies were small, it wasn’t uncommon for me to run the vacuum cleaner once every two or three days.

4.Do you prefer flooring, carpet, or rugs?

I like both carpet and hard covered floors best. Rugs are something to trip on – very dangerous! I keep thinking, when we get into another house then I want nothing, but hardwood floors. I won’t have to worry about carpet wearing out. However, eventually, the floor will need to be refinished. There are drawbacks to both. I’ll worry about this decision when I come to that bridge.

5.This week is my birthday! Yay! If I could visit you for 1-2 hours, where would you take me? Patrice, Aren’t you being a bit presumptuous? Do you think I’d actually want to take you anywhere? Don’t you know I only read your blog to see Wendell? Seriously, well not exactly, but humor me anyway- would we go for a walk in your garden, to a nearby antique store, to a tea room or coffee shop? A Happy Meal? Hello- are you still there? I just thought this question would be fun.

First, we would start your birthday off with breakfast. I think it would be awesome fun to take you to Cracker Barrel. Do you have those in your neck of the woods? I know they can be found in certain parts of the north. Cracker Barrel is country-style eating where you can get breakfast anytime they are open. We would eat there on Saturday morning when we were first married. They have yummy pancakes served with maple syrup and your choice of sausage links or bacon. You can also have the whole shebang – eggs, grits, gravy, biscuits, and sausage. Let’s not forget, lots and lots of fresh, hot coffee.

Next, I think it would be nice for us to take a drive along one of the Dogwood Trails. Knoxville has officially kicked off their Dogwood Festival this week. After touring one of the lovely trails by car, then we can stroll the heart of the festivities in downtown Knoxville on Market Square with local artists, craft & food vendors. Maybe, we can share a funnel cake. It’s pure naughtiness, but most locals love it! It’s kind of tasty, but I like it because it’s just one of the fun things to do once in a Blue Moon.

After spending the entire afternoon at the Dogwood Arts Festival, then we can slip away for a quiet evening on the town. I’m not a party-goer, girlfriend. So, you don’t have to worry too much on this score. K’ville isn’t a huge city like our capital city, Nashville, but surprisingly there’s a lot of ethnic type restaurants in our community, there’s Mexican, Asian, Italian, German, and of course Americana cuisine. I think you may like it if we celebrated your birthday in quiet sophistication at Copper Cellar. You won’t be disappointed, if you dine there – trust me! I would give our server advance notice it’s your birthday, and I’m certain you would receive a complimentary dessert. This is one of my favorite restaurants in town. It’s excellent!

In honor of you, on the day you were born… Happy Birthday, Patrice! *

Next up, Angela and I would like to welcome you to …

This week marks the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. The vessel once thought unsinkable even by God.

Titanic display in Pigeon Forge, TN – cool building!

If you had been a passenger aboard the RMS Titanic, would you be one of the upper-class passengers or amongst the employees or poorest in the lower quarters?

I can’t imagine myself in the élite circle, even though that’s certainly where I would want to be. Having not come from money, chances are slim I’d be in said company and would find myself among the less fortunate. Poor souls!

Be taken wayback with actual footage of the Titanic.

Now, it’s time to look at others’ Wayback Wednesday flashbacks. Why not join the fun, simply create your own post and link up. It’s that easy! Wanna a return following or visit? Then, leave us a comment and we’ll do the favor in like kind.

  1. Wow I like all of the things you have planned for Patrice’s birthday.
That would be so much fun.
I know that my Mom’s favorite place to eat was the Cracker Barrel. We don’t have them out here. It sounds wonderful.

  2. The birthday celebration was great! We do have cracker barrel a few hours away. I’m not much of an “on the town” partier anymore, but I love to see new places. The dogwood trail sounds wonderful!

Home for movies! I am into finding change, but I tend to get lots of it from shopping. I also have to handle the business change bags.I like my flooring and don’t have a problem with rugs if they are heavy enough, or I use a rug backing to anchor it.We are slowly trying to phase out all of the carpet here. It was great when babies were crawling. That just brought back memories of baby “peach fuzz hair” with static charge from crawling on the carpet! lol 🙂

Thanks for the YouTube. That’s a fun song. The traditional birthday song doesn’t have nearly enough pep to it!

Thanks for joining in. Have a great week!
