I Was Made For Lovin’ You BOTB Showdown

MAY 15th BOTB RESULTS

I scheduled this post then sent it back to draft after feeling overwhelmed and a bit burned out, too.  The thing causing this won’t change anytime soon I don’t believe, so after getting a few nudges from friends expressing hopes that I join the fun I caved and decided to do it.  I’ll just go with the flow, kicking stress in the pants to play along.

Gene Simmons furball double

Speaking of Gene Simmons, DH and I are watching The Family Jewels TV series on A&E.  Have you seen it?  It’s quite fun.  Maybe, I’m just easily entertained but Gene seems like an regular fella for the most part.  Okay, you aren’t here for TV programming reviews so let’s move right on to the main event.  More than a year and half ago I found a cover of I Was Made For Lovin’ You (Kiss) [<–vid link for reference only) and that’s how this battle idea was born.

The first cover band is the one that got the wheels turning. According to their Pateron page they are a YouTube band who puts their personal spin on popular songs. The band’s female lead is Audra Miller with Matt Yost on guitar, Sam Gilman on drums, and Ryan Krysiak on bass. Meet First to Eleven!

First to Eleven

The next group is a rock/metal cover band from the Ukraine.  Female lead, Daria Zaritskaya with guitarist, Sergey Sershen,  Alex Shturmak on bass and Dmitry Kim playing drums forming NoApology (formerly known as Sershen & Zaritskaya).   NoApology feature vocalist, Addie Amick of Holocene on this cover.  Don’t let the smoldering sex appeal of the babes singing sway your vote. lol  Please give NoApology a listen!

The final contender I’m positive one of you introduced to me.  Please let me know if you did. The details accompanying the video aren’t clear who’s who. I pieced together a few of the band members playing Sherlock Holmes.  Singing is Andreea Munteanu with Andrei Cerbu on guitar, and Katarina Flöerkey on the keyboard but the bass player and drummer don’t quite look like the dudes on their website. If you’re curious then you can take a peek.  Please listen to Iron Cross!

The Iron Cross

At our son’s wedding rehearsal last October, the chapel director mentioned that they hadn’t figured out a song to play as they are presented to those gathered for the occasion.  He said, he wanted “I Was Made For Lovin’ You” but hadn’t gotten his then fiancee on board with it. As it turned out,  he won her over and when it played everyone laughed. I think it was a great choice!

I’ll report the results of this battle in my July 9th Sunday’s edition of Monday’s Music Moves Me. Be sure to check back then to see if your favorite cover artists is named the winner.  I invite you to take part in more showdowns.  There’s a list of participants in my side bar beneath my BOTB banner.

I’m not active in Blogosphere or other social media platforms on the weekends but I’ll be by your place first thing Monday morning.  Have a bandtastic day and thanks for joining the fun. X💋X💋, Cathy

Polls close at noon (ET) on July 7th!

  1. HiYa, CAThy!
I’m glad you decided to participate in the July 1st BOTB extravaganza.

Every single one of the lead singer gals sang, “I was made for you; and, girl, you were made for me!”

Hmmm…. What were the odds that all of the lead singers would be lesbians? Those were some serious Vegas-line odds on that bet!

I’m voting for the first group. Primarily because, not only were they “cranked up to eleven”, but they were even the FIRST To Eleven! (And here I always mistakenly thought that SPINAL TAP was the “first to eleven”.)

    1. Stephen,

LOL, you’re so funny! I hate to burst your bubble but I think the lead female vocalists aren’t lesbians…maybe a little bi? But, I think it’s just a case of the cover artists didn’t change the lyrics to match the appropriate gender. Who can tell, I could be all wrong and you’re totally right. I guess we’ll never know. I have your vote logged for First to Eleven, my friend.

  2. Iron Cross for me, my dear! I really liked their sound – and vocals. Even the (outdoor) venue was pleasing 😉

    1. Diedre,

When a band sounds good live then you know they have “real” talent. I’ll put you down for The Iron Cross. Have a good day, my dear!

  3. I’m loving this battle, Cathy! As you know, rock and metal are my favourite genres and I enjoyed all three contenders. That said, I’m voting for No Apology, the Ukrainian band. They gave it more drama, and the vocals sizzled!

    1. Debbie,

Politics has no place in entertainment. I like to make good decisions based on talent. Thanks for dropping by to give your vote to Sershen & Zaritskaya.

      1. Politics never entered my mind. 🙂 Plus, we are sympathetic to Ukraine here in Canada. I don’t understand the vitriol…

        1. Debbie,

It’s good that you didn’t let politics sway your decision. I believe Americans are sympathetic with the Ukrainian people. Personally, it’s the innocent ones in these times I feel the most for, not a corrupt, evil government. The ugly truth is the Ukraine is in some deep doggie doo. Money laundry to weaponizing viruses and our government unfortunately has been supporting the evil. MSM hides the truth from the Americans and the rest of the world. I’m thankful for the conservative news outlets that report what’s truly going on. This is a post meant for fun but I do understand the negativity and I certain do not begrudge anyone for expressing themselves. Our freedom to speak our minds is threatened constantly with censorship and banning accounts. The very things that’s popular social platforms are guilty of doing to anyone whose views do not line up with theirs. The agenda pollution found in much entertainment today is ruining the industry. Gone are the days of watching/listening to something for the sheer pleasure. It’s almost impossible to escape the garbage. That’s when I exercise my rights by turning it off. I’m not super political and find it difficult to convey what I mean while not hurting anyone’s feelings. The bottom line is respect for each other at all times and resigning oneself to agree to disagree on somethings because in the end friendship or family ties is the most important. Thank you for for always sharing what’s one your mind, dear friend. You rock!

  4. Hi Cathy!

It’s a definite vote for First to Eleven from me. They just sounded better in my opinion.

    1. I’m so happy you showcase a Ukrainian band even though I’m not voting for them. Ok, maybe I’m qeird but I like the first band because they are good yet don’t take themselves too seriously. They were fun to listen to.

      1. Birgit,

You’re not weird. F211 does a fab job, too!

  5. If this is considered a good song then maybe this Battle was too much of a good thing.

I hated the opening chatter of the first band but they were definitely good.

Not voting for any Ukrainian band. They were good at what they did, but they don’t get a vote from me.

The vocalist of the last band put me in mind of my granddaughter Marley singing with her band. I liked their busking presentation as well. Give my vote to The Iron Cross.

    Lee

    1. Lee,

I can do without the chatter as well on the first video. When it comes to entertainment, I try to put aside politics if I can and hope the Ukrainian people are victims of the state. Our government is in bed with the Ukrainian government doing things we Americans can’t against and even though we try to stop it with our votes, liberal politicians have enough minions to help them steal the election. It’s really quite sad how far our country has spiraled downward. The Ukrainian contenders are quite good, though. I’m glad you enjoyed The Iron Cross well enough to cast a vote for them. They are a super talented group.
