Welcome Kittens & Dawgs! I apologize for the delay in this post. Normally, I set things to go live at midnight but with the craziness going on then it just didn’t happen. I even thought for a split second to not even do one but I hate shrugging things off leaving others in the balance. Anywho, I’m too pooped to do anything and I certainly haven’t been anywhere to take pictures since the fall foliage made its show. Like I said, life is busy. That being said, I’m sharing an old photo from a visit to Highlands, North Carolina. Isn’t this the

Roberts is my maiden name. I know my family heritage hails across the pond somewhere in the UK. This is what I learned from Wikipedia.
Roberts is a British surname of patronymic origin or reflecting servile status, deriving from the given name Robert, meaning “bright renown” – from the Germanic elements “hrod” meaning renown and “beraht” meaning bright. Roberts may mean either “servant of Robert” or “son of Robert”; the latter is more common in Wales, while the former is more common in England.[1][2] Although the name Robert was known in the British isles before the Norman Conquest in 1066, it was mainly introduced into Britain by the Normans.[3] Today the surname Roberts is common in England, Wales, Ireland and the Isle of Man, with the biggest concentration by far occurring in North Wales. The name is also common in Scotland.

Today’s post is sponsored in part by the ABC Wednesday challenge and the letter ‘R’.
I’m gonna leave you with the new release of Knoxville’s very own and a finalist on season nine of The Voice, Emily Ann Roberts’ “I’ve Got Forever”. To my knowledge there’s no close kinship between us but who knows we might share some distant blood ties somewhere down the line. 😉 Don’t forget to check back tomorrow to see who won King Vs Queen #BoTB showdown!

That, my dear, is a most lovely photo of the lake!
What a lovely and beautiful lake. Thanks for sharing it with us. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.
Patrick,
You’re welcome. The western North Carolina mountains are filled with charming little towns that we love to explore over and over. It’s a great way to spend the day. Thanks for dropping in for a visit!
That’s a lake i would enjoy spending a summer exploring.
Be careful, my understanding is that once you start looking up family history, you never quit. 😉
Mimi,
A few years ago I subscribed to Ancestry.com and began the process. You’re right it’s addictive but the fee kept my fever down not to mention time restraints, so I just stopped doing it. My account is still there but it’s not active. Hopefully, my information won’t get deleted should I wish to resume someday. Thanks for visiting!
That’s a beautiful lake!
Mary,
It really is a lovely lake! I’d love to have a summer home in this part of North Carolina. The winters would be a bit hard so far away from everything and the climate is similar to Canada’s, so I wouldn’t like that too much.
I agree with you. I’m not one from cold but it would be awesome for summer
Wooo! Gorgeous photo, CATHY!

Stephen,
Thanks!
Love the lake which looks like up north to me (in Ontario…the Muskokas). Love the history of your name and I always find this interesting. My mom’s maiden name is Ortmann which is German and means that there was a person of higher ranking who came from a higher place like some hill (Ort part). The Ortmann coat of arms is mainly blue and white and there is a fish on top with ostrich plumes. I know everything means something but I can’t recall. If you find out where your family hails from you might find your coat of arms. My hubby’s has a squirrel on top…hahahaaaa
Birgit, the climate in this part of North Carolina is similar to Canada and I’d imagine the landscape resembles the area, too. But, I can’t swear to it since I’ve never been to Canada. Maybe someday I’ll get a chance. 🙂
Love that little lake. What a beautiful place to have your home.
Love the video. I’d not heard that one before. Love it.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday, Cathy. Love you. ♥
Sandee, I wish this lake was at my home but it’s in the western North Carolina mountains. We’re in East Tennessee if you recall. 🙂
Your lake–you just know there’s a river around there somewhere. What feeds it!
Jacqui,
There are several small lakes in the Highlands, North Carolina area. If you look at Google Maps on the Bridal Veil side of the city that’s where this picture was made and I did spot a creek (Monger) that’s connecting it with another lake. It’s just a beautiful area.
I hope things calm down for you. Thanks for hosting. XO
Oh, Sista yeah, I hope it calms down soon, too! I really don’t see that happening for several weeks yet.
Ellen,
I hope so, too. Unfortunately, I don’t see it happening until after the holidays. There’s just a whole lot of craziness going on! Lord, give me the strength to endure. lol
Cool way to cover the R today!
Brian,
It was something right under my own roof that I can relate to! Look at all those Rs?
Brian,
Yikes, I didn’t realize that I had left a response already.smack forehead Anywhow, you’re most welcome to join my WW linky party anytime you want. Thanks for visiting! 😉
