Half & Half

Last night, I waited with on the edge of my seat to catch the results of the American Idol’s Wednesday night’s show. Would my favorites survivor? I held my breath and kept my fingers crossed for the best.

Here’s what how things played out…

American Idol opened with Lauren and Scotty doing a duet. They were well suited. Their performance of “I Told You So” was a real joy to listen to, heart-felt and beautifully sung. Ryan revealed afterwards, they were both safe for another week.

Naima and Jacob were the next couple to performed, “Solid” as a duet. Lets just say, these two were not a good pair. Jacob belongs on Broadway and Naima…well I’m not sure where she belongs, but anywhere else as long as it’s not on stage. Ryan announced that Jacob gets another shot, but Naima is in the bottom three. Now, that’s some good results I can get behind.

Performing “Teenage Dream” was a trio Thia, Haley, and Pia. I didn’t get to see their entire rendition, but what I did hear wasn’t bad at all. Better than I expected with Haley in the mix. Thia and Pia are really classy singers with wonderful control and range. Two of these three were safe from elimination. Unfortunately, Thia was in the bottom three. Drats! I love little Thia, too.

Singing “Band on the Run” were Paul, James, Casey, and Stephano. These young men are all so different in their singing styles. I don’t know who decided to bunch them together, but it was not a good job. Ryan quickly got to the punch after their performance with assurance that Casey was safe and then announced Paul was in the bottom three. “Alright!” is what I thought.

Tonight, two would be eliminated. Two of the three, Paul and Naima, were thiamy least favorites. I hoped to see them both get booted off last night. To my shock, Paul managed somehow to make his way to the next round of the competition. Naima got voted off. Yay! But, Thia? The youngest contestant and one of the best singers got ousted, too!  I felt crushed by the outcome. How can this be?

This may be the end of American Idol for Thia, but a door of opportunity will open up for her with great potential for this young star. How can it not? She’s way too good to stay under the radar. Unfortunately, my joy was only half and half.

Good luck Idol contenders!
