Genesis

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus

Belated warm and happy wishes to all of my boogieing moms! I hope Mother’s Day was ever bit as special as you are because you’re worth being treated like a queen.

We’re kicking off a new work week, so let’s get this Monday started off right with some music.  This week’s theme is Single word song titles or single band/artists name! In 2018, I did one-word song titles by a single artist.  I haven’t done the research but I probably can come up with another playlist of one word song titles but I think I rather like the idea of going with a single band name because that’s sort of been in the back of my mind to do for awhile.

In the beginning…well, not exactly but in the 80s it seemed every time I turned the radio on Phil Collins was singing.  Yeah, that’s not following the theme but Genesis, not the book from the Bible, the pop band fits it like a glove.  Someone posted a large collection of Genesis’ Greatest Hits, so I’m borrowing it to share it with y’all today.  Who’s ready to boogie?

This is a music link up.  The party co-hostess are now featured in my right side bar underneath the 4M banner.   Every other week, a suggested music theme is given for party goers to build a song set around using YouTube or other music sources for our guests.  To access the dance floor, a theme isn’t mandatory,  but failure to meet the basic guideline (post must contain music) puts your URL in danger being labeled – NO MUSIC.

Earlier this morning, my mid-month BOTB published for those interested in casting a vote for your favorite cover artist.  Watch for an unscheduled post with my photo share of our trip to Biltmore Estate on Wednesday.  This is CAAC signing off,  have a boogietastic day.  X💋X💋, Cathy

Sparks of encouragement…

Live for each second without hesitation. 🎶 Elton John

  1. This is a playlist for several occasions and full of songs I’ve enjoyed over the years. It did make me sad that some of the Genesis music videos were blocked in the United States. We had the Abacab album and probably came close to wearing it out. I am also a fan of Mike and the Mechanics and Peter Gabriel’s solo work. It’s so sad when aging takes artists from us, either by death or disability. (And, oh, The Living Years is such a wonderful song….sing it loud!) Alana ramblinwitham

    1. Alana,

I don’t recall if I noticed the mix of artists on this playlist but for some reason I thought it was all Genesis or Phil Collins music. Oh well…I’m happy you liked it all the same. I believe I’m losing my head!

  2. Thanks darling for adding my link to the table. I joined with two golden oldies and a postie that looks back on the days gone by with gratitude. Phil Collins is all kinds of love.

Have you seen his daughter Lilly Collins in Emily in Paris, a netflix series. She is fabulous and I bet you will enjoy watching it, if you haven’t already. 🙂 And trust me I don’t watch too much of the tube either, but this one was breezy fun.
Another personal favourite is the Canadian series, Schitts Creek. Hilarious beyond words and endearing too. 🙂

    Kisses. xox

    1. Natasha,

No, I haven’t seen the series Phil’s daughter is in. We don’t have Netflix anymore. Perhaps, one day we’ll pick it up again. Thanks for joining the 4M party, my dear!

  3. Glad you included some Peter Gabriel songs at the end. He was what Genesis was all about until the late 1970’s. Pretty comprehensie list of songs here!

  4. Oh on that precious video. Animals are so very smart. You made me smile more than once.

    Love Phil Collins. Well done.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥

    1. Sandee,

Smiles really make a person’s day, don’t they? I’m happy you enjoy the Genesis jam session with Phil Collins!

  5. Hi again, Cathy!

Happy Paw-some 4M Monday to you, dear friend!

That video showing various animals helping animals of their own and other species is heartwarming. It reveals how intelligent, resourceful and creative animals can be and how fiercely they protect their young.

I’m going to need to cut my comment short this morning, Cathy. I started writing it an hour and a half ago. Mrs. Shady came and pulled me away and we have been engaged in intense discussion every since as we plan a major house purchase and a thousand mile move to another state. It is becoming increasingly difficult for me to keep my head in blogging. Very soon, I will need to pull the plug on all blogging activity until the end of the year. Please understand.

I know that Phil Collins loves to pay tribute to Motown and the 1960s in general. He has done some great covers, some of which are here in your song block. Whenever I hear “In The Air Tonight,” I am reminded of its use as a music video to heighten the suspense in a dramatic scene in the pilot episode of Miami Vice. “Against The Odds,” “Take Me Home” and “Sussudio” were all biggies on the MTV station where I worked at the time. Blonde Tennessee born singer Marilyn Martin, who famously collaborated with Phil on the hit duet “Separate Lives,” is a favorite of mine. Over the years, I have posted two of her songs and videos on my blog. Phil’s version of “Going Home” has to be my top favorite in this set. I used it in one of the last posts on my old blog, SDMM, in a tribute to Margaret Schneider, The Oldest Living Dell Rat.

I absolutely need to go now. I will make every effort to visit you again Wednesday. Have a happy day and a wonderful week, dear friend Cathy!

    1. Here I thought I left a comment. I had no udea this man left a wealth of major hits. I like the one video where he is on the sinking ship. He used footage from a great film made about the Titanic called, ” A Night To Remember.” I enjoyed listening to each one.

      1. Birgit,

Phil Collins and Genesis was really on top of things in the 80s and 90s. Your comment caused concern that Phil was no longer with us when you said “I had no idea this man left (as in past tense in my thoughts) a wealth of major hits.” I did some Internet sleuthing and learned of problems relating to a spinal injury that forced him to step out of the spotlight and into retirement in 2022. From the sound of it, his days as a musician are indeed in the past as is Genesis. It’s so sad to learn the cruelties inflected on people, especially as they age. It’s great to just let these long playlists play in the background, isn’t it? I’m tickled you liked it. Thanks for joining the 4M party, my dear. I’m heading your way! 😉

    2. Holy Moly, Tom!

I am soooo sorry for not responding to your message. I could’ve sworn I did on yours and the other but looks like I didn’t. I absolutely understand your need to pull the plug on blogging until after you’re all settled into your new place. I’m sure going to miss you, though. I look forward to reading more about your move. Thanks for making time to dance with me one last time before your major gridlock on time sets in. Take care and happy moving, my friend!
