Fear Not

Normally, I share my latest Thursday Art Date with Rain sketch here but this week I’ve been a bit pushed and came up empty handed in the creative realm.  Rain’s prompt for today is Light and Dark.

Right now many are scared and rightfully so, the unknown shakes us all.  The threat of illness, self-isolation, our economy, …. these certainly are dark times but we will see the light again.  The thing that gets me through moments like this is my faith.  I find strength in His word.

This morning Bible Study Tools shared 10 Bible Verses about God’s Protection from which I created the below inspirational reminder that I am not alone for God is with me keeping me safe through the eye of the storm.

You’re in my thoughts and prayers daily. Be well, my dear friends. Blessings to you and yours! X💋X💋, Cathy

  1. We are not afraid here but we’re concerned about those who seem to brush of the evil bug. We’ll all get though this.

    1. Brian,

A lot of people don’t place importance on keeping distance from others who appear to be sick no matter what and I wonder now if the demographics I’m seeing being affected most by the virus are those who thought they didn’t have to worry so much about the thing, thinking it was only the elderly and those with pre-existing health concerns. It just pays to use common sense no matter. Unfortunately that’s something lacking in our society these days.

  2. One of my favorite verses of reassurance is Matthew 6:34

“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.”

Or as Bobby McFerrin sang, “Don’t worry, be happy”

    Tossing It Out

    1. Lee,

Yep, no need to worry about tomorrow, tomorrow will take care of itself. I was just thinking about Bobby McFeerin’s song earlier today after reading someone’s Facebook message. I decided it was a good time to share it with my friend, too. 🙂

  3. These are trying times but we can’t let fear rule our lives. I’ll trust in God as you do.

Have a fabulous day, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥

    1. Colette,

Yeah, this is a bit surreal. I was thinking the same thing. Being human has its draw backs like impatience and fear but my peace and assurance comes from the Lord. I know this will pass in time. Be healthy and safe, my dear!

    1. Rain,

I’m thankful to know where I stand in this life and the next. The things of this world are temporary and everything herein God has control over. I can my part to do what’s reasonable and then the rest is up to the One I serve to watch over me. It’s when I put my full faith in Him that peace fills my entire being. Be well and thanks for visiting, darlin’!

  4. Amen! I set my alarm music to the song “Confidence” by Sanctus Real and make it a point to listen to Zach Williams “Fear is a Liar” before, between and after prayer time. Stay well and be blessed!

    1. Anita,

Thanks for the two new song titles. I will hop over to YouTube to listen to them. Music is a great way to soothe the soul and conquering one’s fears. In time God will calm this storm but He can give us peace if we just let Him have control of our minds and trust Him. That’s what I choose to do. 🙂

  5. As God’s people we are the light of the world and in times like these we have the opportunity show the world just how much we trust our Savior. 2 Timothy 1:7 tells us, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” I LOVE the song you have chosen to share today. Have a blessed and powerful week.

    1. Driller,

I love that verse from 2 Timothy and it’s so true, fear doesn’t come from God. I remind myself of this often and I strive to not allow Satan to have control over my mind that way. That’s never a good thing. I trust the One I serve. He has every thing under control even when it all feels so out of control.

  6. Hi Cathy, this is a lovely post. We all need to stay calm and sensible in these troubled times, so thanks for the inspirational words and pictures and music. Our county here is the one with the most cases of Coronavirus, so it’s not easy. We need to stay in the light. Wishing you and yours well in these scary times, stay safe, hugs, Valerie

    1. Valerie,

Yes, we do need to stay calm. It’s easy to get scared but choosing to dominate our fears instead of fear dominating us is essential. We’ve read the news about how difficult it is for your part of the world. Hopefully, things will get better soon for you and your country. God bless!

  7. Thanks for this posting
o yes we are not alone, we will be strong and brave to go this way through this difficult time. If we all stick together !!! The video is beautiful.

    1. Elke,

We’re doing our part to try to keep healthy. I’m amazed how some people don’t get the need to keep distance between you and them. I get it, most people like the sense of closeness but we have to be smarter than that. Thanks for letting me know how you did got the gold effect on your painting. I will check out the link you provided.

  8. Hi, Cathy!

I want to thank you for the inspiration in these troubled days when the threat of the spreading virus rises by the hour. The Doors song “strange days have found us” seems to apply as does the term “March Madness” which has taken on a new meaning this year. Faced as we are with a national crisis of this magnitude, fear is to be expected, but calm, unified cooperation and action must prevail.

“Do something every day that you don’t want to do; this is the golden rule for acquiring the habit of doing your duty without pain.” – Mark Twain

“Do the thing you fear most and the death of fear is certain.” – Mark Twain

Thank you for the blessings. Take good care of yourself and your loved ones, dear friend Cathy!

    1. Tom,

Indeed March Madness has taken on a different meaning. I guess we’ll not forget this ordeal for years and I imagine in the far off future my grandkids asking how we managed during the days of the Coronavirus? Perhaps, I should keep a journal of things but I’ve never been one for diary keeping even though part of me really likes the idea. I believe to keep the madness at bay, we need to keep to a normal daily regimen and it is hard to get motivated some days. I think the news is taking a bit more of toll on my personality today. I’m sure once DH comes home I’ll feel tons better. 🙂
