Favorite friends #FlashbackFriday

Cathy, age 2

Good-morning, kittens & dawgs! TGIF! This has been one frigid week. We’re not out of the icebox just yet here in the Tennessee Valley. We’re expecting another round of sleet and freezing rain to drop in on us late night or early tomorrow morning.  It sounds like another perfect opportunity to snuggle with my favorite friend, DH, on the sofa streaming video entertainment from Netflix.

Speaking of favorite friends, I want to share an old photo a childhood bud posted on Facebook a few years ago. We use to be thick as thieves. Now, time and distance separate us all. However, in our hearts we are still ever bit as close. I don’t think that’s something that you can ever erase.

Pic from Anita 's FB 1_Fotor
Pictured left to right: Pamela Roberts (my baby sister), Me, Valerie Johnson, Anita Davis, and Lisa Gayle Johnson. We were all best buds growing up. Anita and I have been friends, since Kindergarten and she was my maid of honor.

I think the year is 1972. My sister looks to be 2-years old…maybe younger. We were all about 11 years old, except for Valerie who is a year older.

We are sitting on a cinder-block wall that surrounded my parents house in the tiny town of Raysal, West Virginia. They no longer live there. It’s funny, I don’t know who took the picture and was only reminded of this instant when the image popped up on Facebook. I love how captured moments in time like this rekindle lost memories, don’t you?

Do you have any flashbacks you’d like to share? We’d love to see what’s stirring around in your mind ~ an old photo, family recipe, a forgotten song, or anything that brings back a bit of fondness from your past.

Thanks for visiting. If you find yourself having trouble keeping warm hop over tomorrow for a little boogie session with Saturday Songsuasion!

  1. What an absolutely gorgeous picture! With this one the old saying is definitely true, a picture is worth a thousand words 🙂 You can almost feel the friendship, smiles, and giggles you girl’s shared! Thank you for sharing your cherished friendships with us all 🙂

  2. Hey Girl, guess who’s here! hehehe I made it this week that’s for sure. Last week was so hectic for me I just couldn’t make it on time, but better late than never right? Love the picture of old friends. I wish I had more pictures like that that’s for sure. Many pics I have that my Dad took is on slides or video that was taken on an outdated machine. 🙁 Well, you have a nice weekend my friend, and stay warm for pity sakes, and I hope to see you on Monday! HUGS

    1. Sorta, a friend of mine started a similar one, except she wasn’t focused on photo memories as I am. And, I wasn’t using a linky code until recently after she mentioned joining in on the fun. Now, I don’t know, if this will take off or not, but I plan to keep doing it until I feel it drys up for me or others. I am reserving Fridays also for my genealogy discoveries, but I’ve been lax with research for the past two months. Maybe, I’ll pick this up again soon. Feel free to contribute what you want. It’s a fun forum for all to participate in! ;D
