We were exploring some out-of-the-way country road when we discovered this mural with two East Tennessee landmarks (JFG and Mayfield Diary) on the backside of this property owner’s garage. Knowing there was no way we’d return to this place, I did not let this opportunity slip away. A big dog stood guard barking the whole time until we left. No doubt thinking, “Mission accomplished! I scared the intruders off.” I should’ve taken a picture of him while I was there, too.
[tweetthis]I linked up with Curious as a Cathy for some not-so #WW fun & I invite you join the party! #photography[/tweetthis]
Today is my FIL’s birthday. Austin turns 95. I don’t have any recent photos. So, I looked through my archives of old photos I scanned from their family album years ago and found the below picture of him with DH taken at my belated MIL’s parents’ homestead down State Line Ridge. Although, he’ll never see this I wanted to say Happy Birthday to a very dear man who treats me like a daughter! You’ll never know how much you mean to me. I love you and God bless!
After this week, I’m scaling back on my daily posts while I prep for next month’s A to Z Challenge. Have a good day and please join me tomorrow for The Results: The Winner Takes It All BoTB Showdown!

Hi Cathy, It’s been awhile since we messaged. Love that mural and its such a nice thing to pay respect to your FIL. We have now moved to Vicenza, Italy. Its beautiful over here! KIT, ok?
Rosa,
Thank you for stopping by for a visit. I was surprised to learn that you moved from the US to Italy. What on earth made y’all do this? Have a good day!
That’s a very interesting mural, Cathy. Glad you shared it here with the rest of us. I am always on the wacth out for such things when I go traveling. And btw, A very Happy birthday to your amazing FIL Austin. 🙂
Esha,
I like finding interesting subjects to photograph when I can. Perhaps, this summer’s outings I will be lucky to discover more hidden treasures. Thanks for stopping by and linking up. Have a great week!
What a find! There have been a few things i’ve seen that i knew i would never get back to and i did not have time to stop and snap a shot, and i do regret it.
Wishing many happy returns of the day to your FIL!
Mimmi,
I’ve done that many times, too. That’s why I made the effort to take this picture when I did because I definitely knew we wouldn’t be that way again. I just need to do this sort of thing more.
Mural awesome photo and lovely post too!
Happy Week to you,

Carol,
Thanks for stopping by!
Your mention of JFG coffee brought back memories of the early seventies when I was working at a warehouse on E Jackson Ave in Knoxville while I was still in college. In the mornings walking from the bus stop on Gay St to my workplace, I could smell the powerful coffee aroma that emanated from the JFG company that was located nearby. Man, that smell was really strong. I’ve heard that this coffee processing plant is no longer there having moved elsewhere. I’ll never forget that morning smell of coffee beans roasting.

Tossing It Out
Lee, smelling the coffee roasting in the mornings while I waited for my KAT bus line to take me to school on the west of town delighted my senses, too. That was in the day when I really didn’t care for the taste of coffee. I don’t know where they moved JFG so I guess I’m going to have to ask Google. They turn the old JFG building into an apartment complex now. I bet their expensive, too.
that’s a lovely mural!
our doggo also stands and barks, but he’s 30 pounds of fluff and I laugh and laugh whenever I think of what a “ferocious” guard dog he thinks he is. 🙂
Alex,
The important thing to remember is other people don’t know that’s he’s 30 pounds of fluff. Hopefully, they’ll see him as a killer beast ready to defend his master and home. 😀
I too love the mural. What a find.
Awww on your FIL. They are indeed precious aren’t they.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday, Cathy. ♥
That is a really awesome find! It looks really well kept too. Have a great week!
Amanda,
I think it’s the backside of a garage. There was a nice home nearby and the road dead end with a small cemetery. Luckily, we were able to turn around at that point.
God Bless your father-in-law. Happy Birthday to him and a great pic.
Love the mural. Super cool.
Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful rest of the week.
Beautiful mural. Happy Birthday to your FIL. How blessed you are too still have him. XO
Cool mural!
Thanks, Beth!
Hi, Cathy!
Happy birthday to your wonderful father-in-law Austin! That is an excellent picture of young DH and his daddy. I hope there is some way that Austin can take a look at your post. It would make his day. I invite you to join me later this month, on the 25th, as I pay tribute to my mother on what would have been her 100th birthday.
I always enjoy gazing at murals. You guys spotted an interesting one in your Tennessee travels. I am sure that barking dog helps deter vandals who might be tempted to apply graffiti or otherwise deface the mural.
Enjoy the rest of your week, dear friend Cathy!
Tom,
Thanks for the birthday wishes to my FIL. He’s an amazing person. Unfortunately, his health is rapidly declining. Every time DH’s oldest brother calls, I’m concerned he had bad mews to report. Your parents were born in the general time era as my FIL. I’ll look forward to catching your mother’s 100th bday tribute. It would’ve been amazing to have her celebrate it with you but she’s in a happier place free of this earth’s burdens and pains. Have a good afternoon, my friend!
