This is the second annual Roctober Mewsic Festival hosted by Mary from Jingle Jangle Jungle and I’m happy to join along with her in the fun.
I always considered myself a soft rock to middle of the road rock gal but in the last 10 years, I realized that my rock n’ roll roots lean a little heavier and harder than I first thought. This month, I’m revisiting some of the classic 70s bands that I loved as a preteen/teenager and you’re welcome to come along for the ride.
Today, I’m killing two birds with one stone so-to-speak no pun intended but it sure makes for great use of the phrase considering my playlist consists of songs pinned or co-authored by Don Henley (drummer…I knew there was a reason I liked this guy) while with the Eagles in the 70s.
Unfortunately the link no longer works but the playlist included these tracks:
- Witchy Woman (1972)
- Desperado (1973)
- Tequila Sunrise (1973)
- The Best of My Love (1974)
- Lyin’ Eyes (1975)
- Take It To The Limit (1975)
- One of These Nights (1975)
- Hotel California (1977)
- Heartache Tonight (1979)
- I Can’t Tell You Why (1979)
The Eagles broke up in 1980 but have gotten together for reunion tours. The group produced some mega-hits as a collective body and many of the band members did well solo, like Henley or Eagle’s late founding member, Glen Fry (2016) whose mewsic I remember from the 80s.
It’s the weekend and weekends mean I’m MIA in Blogosphere but do join me a little later in the morning for Friday’s Fun Stuff edition.

Glenn Frey was my fav Eagle!! The band is one of my top favs!!
Dee,
Glen Frey was an amazing artist! Thanks for the return visit, my friend!
I really like The Eagles and didn’t realize I knew all the songs you mention here. I forgot Glen Fry passed away which is sad.
Birgit,
With some of these older groups, I find that I know more of their songs than I first thought, too.
That really is one of those magical groups that will live on forever!
Brian,
Yep, I think you’re right and they shall through their media for generations to come. Who knows maybe they’ll inspire the younger generation to be better mewsicians, singers, & songwriters. Today’s mewsic just isn’t awe-inspiring or calls me to hit replay time and time again. Nope, nothing special with today’s sounds.
I have loved the Eagles since the beginning of time, it seems. I had them on my lineup but they got ‘bumped’ for another band. Maybe next year…
Mary,
It’s a tough call figuring out which artists/songs to use in the challenge but as you said, there’s next year. 😉
They are favorites at our house!
Mimi,
I’d say a lot of folks feel the same. 🙂
Most favourite band of Grandpaw and of course we love them too😸Every song is going straight to the heart💗Pawkisses for a Happy Weekend🐾😽💞
Binky,
I knew I liked your grandpaw for some reason because the Eagles is one of my favorite bands, too.
Missed a couple of my favorites (“Take It Easy” and “Peaceful, Easy Feeling”), but good set nevertheless!
John,
Your favorites are some of my favorites too. I’m not sure now why I didn’t include these but oh well…that’s the way it goes sometimes when my mood gets moved by the groove.
Interestingly, I have never seen them live although I do like a lot of their music. Glen Frey was a good friend of Bob Seger and Bob’s last album was dedicated to him. Nice selection of songs!
Janet,
I can’t believe you haven’t seen the Eagles in concert. I figured if anyone had it would be you. 🙂 That’s a nice tidbit to know about Seger and Frey. Thanks for sharing it!
One of my all time favorite groups, and one of the few I never saw in person. I’ve always regretted that. Lyin’Eyes and Desperado major favorites. So sad when Glen Frey passed away.
Janet,
The mewsic industry lost a real talent when Glen Frey passed. At least his mewsic is preserved for generations to enjoy. Thanks for visiting!
Janet,
I’m not a concert goer, but they would’ve been an awesome band to see live and I’m with you it was sad to hear of Frey’s passing a few years back. Thankfully when these mewsic legends cross over we still have their songs to enjoy for years.
