Day 31: S.a.D At This Time of Year

This is it the last day of the year, folks! I’ve shared all month long a Christmas song a day and I want to say thank you for tuning for my daily music picks.  Today won’t be any different.  I’m going to pull out of the old bag of UK Forgotten Christmas Pop Hits a song that’s new-to-me but I like the mellow sound.  It definitely matches my mood.  Here is Craig Phillips singing At This Time of Year!

I’m not sure if you’re like me but when I don’t know an artist I like to learn a little about the person, so who is Craig Phillips?  Wiki says he’s an English TV personality and builder.  He won the first series of Big Brothers in 2000.  From what I read, he has a big heart, too.  Prior to his Big Brothers’ appearance he began raising the money for his friend, Joanne Harris, with Downs for her heart and lung transplant but only got a small portion of the ₤250,000 needed for the surgery.  He used his winnings (₤70,000) to make up the difference.  The same year at Christmas, Craig released this single for the Down Syndrome Association through Warner Music.  The song hit  #14 on the UK singles chart where it stayed in the top 40 for three weeks while raising ₤40,000 for Craig’s charity and it received silver disc status.

That’s it for the 2021 Christmas song-a-day challenge.  I appreciate each of you who included me in your holiday season celebration. The fun isn’t quite over.  I’m sure everyone has plans for this evening to see the old year out and the new in.  Whatever you do, please be safe.  We’ll enjoy our evening the same as every year with lots of good snacks and a movie marathon.  We will break away to watch the ball drop in Time Square and raise our glasses of non-alcoholic sparkling apple cider to greet 2022.

I am looking forward to promising days ahead with the hope of good things in store for me and mine as well as for you and yours.  CAAC launches its first post of the new year tomorrow with the All Time High BOTB Showdown.  I hope you’ll find time to play along!

Happy New Year and God bless, my friend!  X💋X💋, Cathy

  3. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Friday, last day of the year 2021, and last day of the December Song-a-Day Challenge, dear friend!

You completed the holiday mewsic marathon in fine fashion, Cathy. “At This Time Of Year” is a wonderful song to end the year.

At this time of year friends and lovers should be near
Share the laughter and the tears
For the days that now are gone

Yessum, I see the Downs woman in the video. Thanks for telling the story of UK artist Craig Phillips’ generosity and philanthropy. He has a big heart.

Thank you again for another year of friendship and all the sharing and caring that went into it, I hope you and DH find good movies to watch tonight. Mrs. Shady and I are going to watch the Aretha movie. I’ll be back tamale to cast my vote in your band battle, and I will also publish my annual New Year’s Day post followed rather closely by a Part 2 post on Wednesday, Jan. 5.

Happy new year and many blessings to you and yours, dear friend Cathy!
