Daddy’s Little Girls #AprilA2Z

Daddy’s Little Girl s a favorite at weddings for the father/daughter dance. The lyrics and music was written in 1906 by Robert Burke and Horace Gerlach. The Mills Brothers recorded the number in 1950 and other artists have covered this song, but Al Martino’s 1967 version is my favorite.

And you’re Daddy’s Little Girl
You’re the end of the rainbow
My Pot of Gold
You’re Daddy’s Little Girl to have and hold
A precious gem is what you are
You’re Mommy’s Bright and shining star.
You’re the spirit of Christmas
My star on the tree
You’re the Easter Bunny to Mommy and me.
You’re sugar
You’re spice
You’re everything nice
And you’re Daddy’s Little Girl.
You’re the end of the rainbow
My Pot of Gold
You’re Daddy’s Little Girl to have and hold
A precious gem is what you are
You’re Mommy’s Bright and shining star.
You’re the spirit of Christmas
My star on the tree
You’re the Easter Bunny to Mommy and me
You’re sugar
You’re spice
You’re everything nice
And you’re Daddy’s Little Girl.

It wasn’t until recent years I heard this song for the first time and it absolutely melted my heart because a daddy (DH) got this song for his little girls to express how much they mean to him.

Meet Daddy’s little girls, DD#1 not quite 6 and DD#2 barely 4, our darling daughters.

DH snapped this photo while I took a Cathynap with my baby boy. It never fails to put a smile on my face when I see this picture of Daddy’s little girls.

  2. Beautiful pics their girlfriend, and that song always makes me cry. My Dad wanted that song at my wedding, but he never made it. He died of lung cancer before I got married. I was such a daddy’s girl too. 🙁 HAPPY EASTER my friend have a wonderful holiday! 🙂

    1. Yeah, I remember reading the post you did on your dad dying from lung cancer! That breaks my heart. I know you thought of him on that day, as you do every day. Thanks for the Easter wishes. I hope you had a good one, my friend!

  3. What a great picture of your beautiful little girls. The song really says it all, doesn’t it. Wishing you a lovely weekend and a Happy Easter!

    1. So, you’re helping Stephen this round of A2Z. It’s nice meeting you, Barbara! I definitely will scoot over to pay you a visit. The weekends are usually a no-show for me in Blogosphere for the most part. Sure, I check my email and see comments that filter in while I’m away, but I save my visits for the week and Mondays are usually a bit hectic for me. lol That’s okay, I’m Superwoman (I wish!)! Keep up the good work!

  4. For some reason, we haven’t been getting your post notifications, until now. Well, I am glad we did today. Happy Easter!

    1. I don’t know why that is, Ann! I noticed this happens to me on occasion with my own posts. I’m glad that you’re getting notification now.
