Welcome to Monday’s Music Moves Me! This week’s theme is whatever music moves you. I’m carrying music over to the dance floor from last Monday’s prompt submitted by John with Italian Rock Bands Continue Continuano le band rock italiane! Previously, I shared a couple of songs by 1990 Eurovision winner, Toto Cutugno. I really enjoyed this Italian pop singer. Curious to listen to more, I found the below “L’Italiano” playlist on the singer’s YT channel.
It seems the more and more I listed to Toto his music felt familiar, perhaps my ear just connected with his voice in away that gave me this sense.
My next artist feature I recognized the name. I’m 99% sure I’ve heard some of their music since I started blogging. Vanilla Sky is an Italian pop punk band from the early millennium. Generally punk isn’t a genre I gravitate to and generally veer away from artists/bands who fall into this category. Of course you can’t always judge a band by its genre. I learned many years after the fact that one of my all-time favorite 80s bands, Blondie, claims to be a punk rock band. Clicking on Vanilla Sky’s Another Lie: Like Home album and I was like “Okay, not bad! Not bad at all.” Hit play to begin now!
All of this Italian music puts me in the mood for pizza. I guess I’ll need to turn my kitchen into Mama Mimi’s pizzeria. What should I make, a supreme or hamburger cheeseburger pizza?
This is a music linky party. Your co-hostess are Stacy, Alana, and Me. Every other week we have a suggested music theme (see weekly prompts here) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our music enthusiasts. Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.
Unless volunteers sign up to co-host in the new year, I thought we’d try for-going this formality but let’s keep a theme going using y’alls suggestions. That being said, put your thinking caps on and send in your music prompts right away. I’ll be sure to credit every person who throws something this way. This is CAAC signing off, have a boogietastic week! X💋X💋, Cathy

I liked Toto Cutugno and I think my late mother in law (whose parents were both born in Italy) would have also. Now, Vanilla Sky, the more I listened to them the more I liked them. Thank you for the intros, and I’ll thank Debbie for providing the You Tube availability link. I never knew how to do this and it has to be frustrating for the Music Moves Me folks in countries other than the United States to run across our video offerings that don’t work in their country. So, hopefully I won’t lose the link! Alana ramblinwitham
Really love the music. Have a great day today
Thanks, Nicole! I’m glad that you liked this week’s line up.:)
Cara Catarina, da amante di lunga data della musica italiana in generale e di Toto Cutugno in particolare, questo post è davvero emozionante! (Translation: Dear Cathy, as a long-time lover of italian music in general and Toto Cutugno in particular, this post is quite the thrill!) 💖🎶 Vanilla Sky sounds familiar but I appreciate the further education about their music, which is not bad at all. 🙂 There’s another Italian rock band making headlines these days – Måneskin. They won the prestigious Eurovision song contest last year and have become a world-wide sensation. 😎
Debbie,
Maneskin was on the radar of others’ playlists last week but I had heard of them before. Maybe from you but I do recall they won Eurovision. I’m not familiar enough with this Italian band to know what I like and don’t like about them yet. I guess I need to take more time to pay closer attention to their stuff. Thanks putting Maneskin in my head today. Maybe, I’ll find time to check out their music on YouTube. Incidentally the video you shared doesn’t work in the US, so I found what I suspect is the same one and copied it below. Thanks for joining the 4M party, my friend!

Oops! I didn’t think to check the video’s availability. Sorry about that! It’s their live performance at Eurovision after winning. You posted the official video version of that song, which is also great. Thanks. 🙂
Debbie,
Don’t worry about it. I never check the video availability. I wish there was an easy way to note if it’s friendly in all regions around the globe. That’s so aggravating when you want to share something and it doesn’t work properly. I spent a lot of time yesterday at YouTube just letting Maneskin’s music play while I did somethings. I enjoyed the sample. 🙂
There actually is an easy way to check video availability, but I often forget to do that. Just copy and past the video link into this site:

Thanks for sharing the link. I knew there was a website you can use but like you I forget to use it. 🙂
Fun post and fun playlist. Boy our Dda sure misses pizza.
Brian,
Oh no, the dad can’t have pizza?! That’s a major bummer! It’s terrible when health reasons get in the way of enjoying the foods we love. I’m not sure why the dad can’t have pizza but perhaps there’s an alternative for him. Has he looked into it? Several years ago I made flaxseed pizza crust with some of my favorite toppings. I did this to cut carbs. It wasn’t as terrible as it sounds and it helped to satisfy the craving.
Great music and a fun post!
Mimi,
Thanks for popping by for the music, my dear. 😉
Hamburger cheeseburger pizza????? That’s not sounding very Italian! Hahaha!
Lydia,
Of course it’s Italian sounding! I said hamburger cheeseburger ‘pizza’. Maybe, it would help if I said it with an Italian accent. 😀 And, yes I’m super silly! I’m now thinking about making a sausage, green peppers, and onions pizza. I’m really unsure. I guess I’ll have to see what toppings I have.
Love the Awww. So cute.
Great playlist.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Big hug, my friend. ♥
I love those pussy cats but ms. Persian does not seem amused…lol. I love the first person singing which was nice to listen to but not a fan of Vanilla Sky. They are not ad punk as some others but not my cup of tea.i hope you had a nice weekend
Terriffic list, CK, Vanilla Sky is great, we didn’t know they were from Italy, I think they have kind of mix of effurrything, from punk to psychedelic sounds, we love that😸We remember Toto’s l’italiano, but we liked the song Sara most of all😺Double Pawkissies from us especially for you🐾😽💞
Hi, Cathy!
Happy Paw-some 4M Monday, dear friend! I hope you and DH had a nice weekend.
Awww… I just wanna smooch those cute little kitties riding in a gondola on the waterways of Venice. If I did, I’d like to think I’d get my face licked rather than clawed.
I enjoyed the introduction to Italian singer Toto Cutugno and listening to his 1983 album L’Italiano. Toto’s record label released L’Italiano as a result of his success with the single of the same name. In February that year, Toto placed #5 with the song at the San Remo music festival contest. I read that the album is basically a compilation consisting of singles and album tracks released by the artist from 1978 to 1982. I think it does us good to cleanse the palate once in a while by listening to foreign language songs. In addition, we get to see in Toto’s music video, indoor and outdoor backdrops of Italy.
I also enjoyed the more familiar sound of Vanilla Sky, an emo pop punk band based in Rome. I too remember hearing them before on your site and others. Another Lie: Like Home is an 8-song EP released in Europe, the U.S. and Canada just before Christmas, 2014. I enjoy the Vanilla Sky brand of pop punk because of its dense wall-of-sound and because it has a hard enough rock edge to suit my sensibilities.
If you’re making pizza, I’m hopping in the car and heading up your way. It will be worth the long trip to taste one of your pies hot from the oven. Thank you very much for the morning mewsical entertainment, dear friend Cathy. FYI, the current post running at Shady’s Place is in its final day and will be bumped first thing tomorrow morning. I hope you can find time to swing by while it’s still on the front page. Have a super week, dear friend!
Tom,
I don’t know why I didn’t notice this before now but Miss Kitty doesn’t look especially warm. You may want to keep your distance from that one. I remember years ago one of our neighbors went to Venice and she told me that she rode in a gondola. I’m delighted you enjoyed another round of Italian music. It is nice to listen to non-English bands/artists for a change. I’m undecided on making pizza. I’ve been under the weather with seasonal allergies pretty bad lately. I haven’t done hardly anything today because of being in a wrecked state. I hate being sick. Blah! Thanks for stopping by, my friend!
