Clocks TAD

I’m following Rain’s prompt, “clocks” for this week’s art date.  I haven’t done much sketching over the past few weeks. Other things had my attention and then with last week’s brush of Arctic air, not really “Arctic” temperatures but for this southern girl it may as well been. Our coldest day time high was 21º and our coldest nightly low was 3º.  Plus, we had nearly a foot of snow, shutting folks in their homes in neighborhoods around town. It was just craziness!  Anyway to get back on topic, I thought I’d resurrect art and photos from my archives that work.

I reworked my “holding onto time” sketch which is a good example for today’s art challenge.

I didn’t find too much in the way of art other than the above drawing and the next one below which I didn’t have time to rework.  My lil’ chef is leaning backwards but I’ve learned a lot in the past three years since I drew it.  There is a cat clock on the wall, though. My mom had one of these in the kitchen when I was a kid.  I thought it was the craziest thing and hated it but now it brings back fun memories.

From here on, I’ll share photos I’ve taken of clocks and to my surprise I had more than I thought.

I’ll end things by saying I’m thankful the dental pain I had last week is not nearly as intense. I’m thankful the snow is melting away. It’s been a slow process with the cold temps but we’re getting there.  I’m thankful for visits from the little rabbit in the snow who triggers our outdoor cameras.  And, as always, I’m thankful for life’s simple pleasures home, health, and happiness.

In every thing give thanksfor this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. ~1 Thessalonians 5:18 KJV

  1. Hi, Cathy! I enjoyed your clocks. I have a Kit Cat clock which I bought because of memories I have of my Great Aunt Maude taking me to a restaurant that had one when I spent some summers with her as a child. I hope your dental pain goes away completely! Have a great week!

    1. It’s fun that you have memories associated with the Kit Cat clock. Is that what they were called? I don’t remember that. 🙂 Thanks for the well wishes for my dental pain. Thankfully, it’s much better but I do have an appointment set to see my dentist.

  2. Nice photographs and drawings! Things have warmed into the 60’s here, as Eugi says, and it looks lik those temps are here for a while, so don’t be surprised if they warm up for you soon…

    1. John,

We had some 60s here, too. It was wonderful and it spoiled us. This week, it’s going to be cooler but nothing like the previous week. Although I don’t like it, I can tolerate it for awhile. Where are you springtime?

  3. I love the cat clock, Cathy! I hope your dental pain subsides and your weather improves. It seems to be a lot warmer where I live. Yay!

  4. I love your “holding onto time” sketch. It always flies away much too quickly. 🙂 Such a cute little chef and I remember seeing those cat clocks, although we didn’t have one. Your weather was even worse tha ours! 😮 Glad it’s eased up in the meantime. We have dreary pouring rain now. Better than freezing, though! Dental pain is awful and I’m glad it’s eased up for you.

    1. Debbie,

I’m very glad the weather and my dental pain is improved. I still can’t wait for spring to get here, though. I appreciate your words about my art. 🙂

    1. Thanks! That floral clock is pretty cool. One time, many years before I took this picture we were there and they had flowers growing in the floral clock. It was lovely!

  5. I was watching your weather on my phone last week. Called a few people back there to get snow reports. It was chilly here too, but not as cold as you all had it.

    1. I think the weather was colder than usual for a lot of people. The weather was much warmer last week but it’s chilly again this week but not anything like the previous week. I’m very happy about that! I’m ready for spring to get here. 🙂

  6. Oh, I love that clock! Same here, my Dad was a watch maker and I hated the ticking sound. Now I can´t have enough of that, my friend K always says, how can you stand all that clicking?! Sweet memories (Dad passed 2002).
Yikes dental pain is the worst!

    1. Iris,

Your dad had an interesting job. A watch maker requires working with small parts and staying bent over a lot. One would need really good ears for that job, too. It’s sad he’s no longer with you but at least you have good memories. I lost my daddy last September. You’re right dental pain is the worse!

  7. Nice drawings. I love the kit kat clock, that must have been hard to draw so small. I am sorry you have dental pain. Hope you are pain free soon. XO

    1. Ellen,

When I need to draw small things in Procreate, I can enlarge the area I’m working just like when you view a photograph. That’s a huge help. I marvel at those who actually do miniature artworks. That has to cause a lot of eye and neck strain. Incidentally, my dental pain has gotten a lot better. Thanks for your concern!
